Stranger Things 3 avec spoilers

Eric Weinstein recently said -- that when Google first appeared-- it was like we all received a new sense or superpower. Like a new eye. Or access to a massive library which indexed all sorts of information.

But the providers of Google have decided not to let us use our new power as we see fit. So now Google is a censor or an editor-- designed to filter what we're allowed to see, encouraging only the opinions They see fit to allow.

Likewise-- the first season of Stranger Things humbly offered to entertain us... hoped & begged us to like it-- make it popular-enough to renew for an additional season. We were free to choose whichever characters we wished-- as our favorites. Enjoy whichever aspects suited-our-fancy. But now it's Season 3. Stranger Things is an established Hit Show. And it's time for our Hollywood betters to tell us what we're Supposed to Think.

Welcome to the Upside-Down. The other side of History. The time After Trump was elected & Stranger Things was a hit & that first award-show season afterward was endless virtue-signaling damsel-swooning from woke anti-trump award winners. Including the cast of Stranger Things (mostly CHILDREN) drafted into an acceptance speech by actor David Harbor ('Chief Hopper')... which advocated the political violence of punching people you disagree-with politically. On one fist-- the actor said his speech didn't actually single-out any specific political group or policy for punching. On the other fist he told Vanity Fair that he was referring to punching anyone who 'advocates' genocide of an entire race or group of people. ((Personally, I think it's ok to punch anyone who actually ~conducts~ a genocide. But 'advocates'... ???... maybe not.))

So now-- in Season 3-- it's not ok to adore the original cast of mostly-boys. There are some new affirmative action hires. Ass-kicking name-taking no-nonsense black & lesbian females, to put those awful toxic-masculinity males (shrimpy sensitive nerd boys) in their place. Also-- Season 3 features RUSSIANS INTERFERING WITH THE ELECTION of the town mayor. And Chief Hopper writing an impassioned speech on a scrap of paper identical to the one in that anti-trump awards show. But in the fictional version-- a female character actually wrote the speech For him. You go girl.

The SJW stuff isn't so intrusive that it ruins the show... but it reduces the show from being as good as it was previously-- to a clunkier propaganda vehicle. It's now more like actual 80's b-movie schlock... on the level of Fright Night or Iron Eagle, rather than top shelf stuff like E.T. or Back To The Future.

After watching the season-- I clicked on a few blog-y articles. Apparently Generation Z really-are a bunch of namby-pamby bedwetters who can only handle hearing pedantic bedtime stories in which their designated-victim-groups get special-rainbow-points for being so special. No dramatic setbacks or unfair twists of fate allowed.

CHECK OUT this male feminist dweeb, "We need to talk about Hopper"...
https://www.indiewire.com/2019/07/stran ... 202155392/

I like all the comments which call-out the writer for saying Hopper is gross & ugly... and all the females are beautiful & perfect... and He Doesn't Deserve Them (i do)... typical loser player-hater white-knighting.

Or Variety's official youtube review... a gay soyboy & an adult woman who talks like a teenage Joss Whedon character... unable to handle that a single-father cop-dad who witnessed death & destruction... might be a big surly. But you-go-girl to the gay character for being gay.
https://tinyurl.com/yx9r6fxw

I think we live in a time when some people Enjoy being pedantically talked-down-to in oversimplistic terms. And told who who cheer & boo-for... by Ocasio Nanny Authorities. And some of us could do without the attempted-mind-control.

Another thing I read-- after watching Season 3-- was a bunch of articles about Coke re-releasing 'New Coke' as a promotional stunt, in tandem with Stranger Things. The people who wrote these articles weren't alive when New Coke came-out. They get it all wrong. One said New Coke was a 'Limited Edition' flavor which was only available for 73 days in 1985. Limited Edition? Others said New Coke was reputed to taste terrible-- but today's reviewers were shocked to discover they liked it. They had no firsthand memory that the Take The Pepsi Challenge ad campaign was such a big success-- that Coke felt compelled to respond with a product which would fare better in blind taste-tests. Not-realizing that people's attachment to the iconic eternal taste of Coca-Cola was more-important than whether it was techinically 'better tasting' than the competition.

The same people who are too young to understand what New Coke was about-- are too young to understand anything-else about 1985. Another thing the Generation Tidepod reviewers can't-stand... is that the Soviets in Season 3 are portrayed as threatening military-uniformed enemies of the US of A. It's not nice to depict them that-way. Pee pee poo poo.

"Stranger Things 3 is being largely hailed as a triumph. It jumpstarted the narrative, gave some much-needed credit to its female characters, and is generally just a good ol' time (except for the Flayed, R.I.P.).

But there's one baffling gap, and that's Jim Hopper's terrifying anger management issues that build to a boiling point from the season's very opening. Hopper is a rage monster almost as volatile as the Mind Flayer, and it's not okay."

Well, bend me over a barrel and bugger me with a toasting fork! As already mentioned, I've been exploring other types of music (still horribly hooked on blues!) and have been playing some...interesting stuff. However, there has always been one genre I've avoided like the plague - jazz: atonal trash, a hot-mess of musical gibberish, utter pish.

That being said, I think I've just stumbled onto an "in" track. Stick with me, this might be a bumpy ride.

For those of you who don't listen to them, Radiohead are a rather odd band - over the years, their growth has seen them transform from a relatively unheard of indie/emo-esque group into the industry giants they are today. At the risk of sounding like a hipster, I've been a massive fan from "Pablo Honey" (their second release) all the way to present day. Anyhoo, what has this got to do with jazz?

Listen to this (classic) track - it's fairly short but is a good example of their stuff.

(Thom Yorke is one ugly motherfucker!)

So, I blundered onto a jazz cover (don't ask what I was searching for) and out of idle curiosity, I clicked the link.

No idea what type of jazz this is (sounds very 50's to my ignorant ear) but god damn! They now own that song!

Just wanted to share.

Was listening to 80s rock station today and happened upon this jem:

It must be the Incel anthem, lol.
Girls have it made
Girls have more fun
Girls have their way
To get lovers anytime they want
Anytime she needs some lovin'
Anytime she just gives a sign
It won't take her long to find a man to oblige
Guys got to plot
Guys got to plan
Guys got to lie, cheat, steal
Do anything he can
Anything to get her to love him
Anything to make her agree
That's the way it's been since Adam and Eve
Girls can get it anytime they want
Girls can get it where a man often won't
Everybody's always after some lovin' now and then
A woman gets it faster than any man can
Girls can get it anytime they like
Girls can get it a fact of life
If she calls you for some lovin' in the middle of the night
She can get a man runnin' at the speed of light
We all look for love
Somewhere, sometime
Girls find it first
They find it morning, noon and night
And it's a wonder of nature, eighth wonder of the world
That a man's got to chase her if he's gonna get the girl
Oh, when a woman wants love
A woman gets love
And it's for sure she's gonna find it
Before the sun comes up
Girls can get it, they pick and choose
Girls can get it, men are always in the mood
If she calls you for some lovin' in the middle of the night
She can get a man runnin' at the speed of light
Girls can get it anytime they like
Girls can get it a fact of life
Oh, you know she'll find it easy
You know that she can
It's like givin' a little water to a thirsty man
Girls can get it anytime they want
Girls can get it where a man often won't

Yup, it's brilliant!

The jury is still out on the "High and dry" cover but it's growing on me. Gutted there's no version of this - my #1 Radiohead track:

I defy anyone to not like this song...it's 100% pure bliss.

Lyrics are poetry...
Slight of hand
Jump off the end
Into a clear lake
No one around
Just dragonflies
Fantasize
No one gets hurt
You've done nothing wrong
Slide your hand
Jump off the end
The water's clear
And innocent
The water's clear
And innocent

Heh. A couple of years ago I was on a long drive in a rental. At roughly 04:00hrs, somewhere just south of the border, a track came on the radio - a very stripped down "surf-punk" track (DJ's words, not mine) that had me toe-tapping and banging my head like a nutcase. After it was finished, he named the band & track so I pulled over to write it down. No pen in the rental, I whipped out my phone to make a text with the band/song - battery dead, no charger with me.

I drove like a fucking psycho - chanting the band name like a mantra - screeched into the next service station and hoofed it into the 24 hour shop. Pen purchased, I scribbled it down.

Long story short, the song is brilliant (I still blast it out once or twice per week) but the band are a no-hit wonder and the rest of their stuff is crap. Anyway, this is the song that had me doing 100mph+ to buy a pen...

Nice rant from the prior page dog.... haha.

I find almost all movies and TV and Netflix shows.... whatever media outlet.... I find almost all of it unwatchable. Nothing fresh. Just rehashed bull shit with a twist. My wife love all this stuff. Good for her I guess. She can sit down in the La-z-boy when she rolls out of bed at 2:00pm and binge watch a series till 2:00am when she rolls back into bed. I think she can watch police procedurals over and over. Fuck me. She has been watching iZombie for the last two days. I can watch about a half episode before I start yelling at the TV. haha. I am like "why the fuck would they do that without backup.... why would you drop your gun when the bad guy is threatening a hostage.... why would you separate, am I watching fucking Scoobie-doo- ruh roh Shaggy." I drive my wife crazy and she yells at me to shut up all the time. Seriously, every time the good guys decide to separate when they are investigating something I do my Scoobie-doo imitation.... "Hehehehehe Shaggie.... let separate... ruh roh!"

It is like all the adults I know enjoy thinking they are teenagers. My friends pick teen-books for our book club.... fucking "Fault in our Stars". WTF.... is this goddamned Oprah? Grow the fuck up..... I just read Crime and Punishment and the Odyssey..... what the fuck is wrong with you guys?

Anyway.... most stuff is shit cause most people are shit. They want to be treated like teenagers.

I guess you can't blame them. If you really accept the existential crisis of life you pretty much just want to kill yourself. Deep reflection carrys great risk. You might end up figuring out how stupid you are and just wallow in regret.

I have put on a bunch of weight (15 pounds?) so I am going back on my diet of fasting two days per week. I will work out on my fasting days. I told my wife this and she snapped "You do whatever you want!" I am like... okay.... and I started thinking I need to find a girlfriend once I get in shape again. That sounds really good honey. Thanks for the suggestion. Over the next few years I will get in really good shape and find a girlfriend.... I will "do whatever I want". Thanks for the suggestion.

If you're confused about musical styles, Scott Bradlee created this handly guide for you:

Unfortunately it doesn't cover Jazz styles, which are essentially a separate timeline.

As for PMJ, I highly recommend seeing a live show if possible. The videos don't really provide the full experience. I will note that it's now essentially a franchise, with multiple groups, so you're not necessarily going to see Scott at the piano. Even if you don't, the other pianists are quite good.

Alas probably no video of this..
Man pretending to be a cop tried to pull over a real deputy and got arrested

On July 4, 2019 just before 8:30 p.m., an off-duty Lee County Sheriff's deputy was traveling eastbound on I-4, when a black Crown Victoria with white and amber lights pulled behind him with the emergency lights activated.

The Lee County deputy pulled to the shoulder and the Crown Victoria pulled beside him. Barry Lee Hastings Jr. told the deputy to "slow down." The deputy challenged him for credentials twice, to which Hastings responded he is a law enforcement officer and his credentials were at the office. He told the deputy he could follow him back to the "station" so he could obtain and show him his
credentials.

The deputy then told Hastings he was going to get law enforcement involved and dialed 911, at which point Hastings fled eastbound on I-4. He exited on Branch Forbes and was stopped by a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputy, where he was detained while the off-duty deputy was interviewed.

A functional siren box and light setup, similar to HCSO's, was discovered within the Crown Victoria. There was also a CB radio. No handcuffs or firearms were located in the vehicle.

Hastings was placed under arrest for Impersonating a Public Officer.

Well, I guess when your sugar baby starts asking for too much sugar, you just torture & murder her, then burn her remains in your back yard.
While the neighbors are watching.
After leaving a social media trail connecting you to your victim.
After you ask the local handyman to build you a secret dungeon with hooks on the wall.
After you self-publish a semi-autobiographical novel about someone obsessed with watching people being burnt alive.

Need to attend to all the details before pulling off a crime like this, ya know.

I worked half-a-month, one Fashion Week, with a sugar baby. Or maybe just a gold-digger?

Anyway-- I recall her saying that the guys who pay her for dates or sex-- wouldn't have to pay. Girls, including herself, would go-out with them.

But the guys don't believe that to be true, so they pay because they think they have-to, to get laid-- or get a hot one. And the girls just go-along with it.

Likewise-- I recall an informal survey asking guys how much they thought they'd have to pay for sex with a '10'. And asking girls how-much they'd have to be offered--
to fuck a guy. The guys were guessing, like, $10,000. Not a single woman priced herself above $1,500. Almost all said they'd take half-that.

Currently, I'm watching a scenario unfold. A young nerdy videogamer guy started a long-distance relationship with a hot girl from his World of Warcraft fighting guild.
At first-- he was all-about old fashioned monogamy & commitment. He sneered at his young generation's revolving-door sex life. She visited his city-- they had a fling. Talked about her moving to his town. She went home & her enthusiasm cooled. His feelings were hurt. They kept going long-distance-- her increasingly regarding him as needy & pathetic... waiting for him to give-up. Him aching for her. A few days ago, he hooked-up with another girl. Had a great time. Is getting what he wants. Told the first one. The first one sez she can hardly complain/ since she had been the disinterested party. Said, 'ok, I guess that's it for us.' And Mr. Conservative Modesty was like, "No wait. I'm not sure this new girl really wants a relationship with me. LET ME CHECK, and then I'll keep going with you if she doesn't want me'. The gall of him! I laughed so hard that he thought it was reasonable for the first one to wait & see if he'd settle for her. Laughed because he's right--- these days, it's worth a shot to see what he can get away with. Girl #1 says he's a huge 'Min-Maxer'... a gamer term for building absurd characters... such as trading-down intelligence points to retard levels... to transfer those points to muscle strength points. She says he's trying to Min-Max pussy. Yep. Shit has tilted in favor of those bold-enough to dare to reach-for previously-absurd decadence & gluttony.

I don't think the Feminists & Progressives tampering with the traditional social boundaries-- really expect anyone-but-themselves to try to benefit from the tampering. They don't have any idea how much they'll get cleaned-out... when they let dudes min-max the game.

Good luck.

I was hoping a jazz version of radiohead would approximate the noisy soundscapes of radiohead with jazz instruments. kinda like these jazz guys' garbled-translation of funk...

Oops... fixed this. Interesting.... but how much is this sort of thing going to cost? I am pretty damn frugal. I am okay with covering the cost of a show and a meal...but.... diamond rings are out of my budget.
I’ve heard that there are young women who will trade casual sex for a decent meal. Apparently, it’s called a “Foodie Call”. Although, with the price of a decent meal nowadays, it might be cheaper to just pay up front and skip the meal.

Or take a pipe-wrench and skip payment altogether.

My understanding of the foodie call is that it is really just a way for cute women to get a free meal on a date.... and then walk away. No exchange involved.

What the fuck happened with Stranger Things? First season was a celebration of the 80's. With Season 2, it was like a throwback to all the 80's kids films we saw when we were growing up. Now?

What am I even watching? I'm only halfway through episode 3 and almost every established character is different from how they were the previous two seasons. And the new character, played by the daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke? If she wasn't called Robin, she could've been called Mary. An insufferable know-it-all, who on top of being fluent in four languages also happens to be an incredible problem solver. The only one being more obnoxious is Max, who they turned from being a somewhat sympathetic character because of her relationship with her brother, into a completely manipulative, and dare I say it, gold-digging, bitch.

They removed any kind of agency from the boys and the men and left it all in the hands of the girls and the women. And don't even get me started on what they did to Hopper.

That was pretty cool; I'm impressed he managed to put the bass-drop into the dubstep! Also loved the transition into techno, very catchy indeed.

Ed Brayton has some troubling health issues. He says he has lost 3 units of blood, which is about 3 pints. I presume this is over some length of time, because 3 pints of blood is a lotta blood.

I don't begrudge him asking for Patreon/PayPal donations, but I do wonder if all those SJWs moaning at Andy Ngo and his Patreon fundraiser would have an issue with Brayton. Of course not!

I read the book instead. It was pretty crap; boring, 2-D characters, uneven pacing, terrible dialog.

Haha, I just read a story that's happening in Sweden and I have to talk about it.

So recently a rapper called ASAP Rocky got arrested in Stockholm because he assaulted someone he claimed stalked him. After the arrest, he was deemed a flight risk and he's currently being held in custody.

Hearing about this, Tyler, The Creator (yes, that Tyler) said he would never visit Sweden again, ever. The Twitterati is also on the case. They started the hashtag #FreeRocky and they think what's happening is all so very unfair.

The reason why I think this is funny, and why I laughed when I found out who the culprit was, is because the person Rocky assaulted wasn't Swedish at all - he was a migrant, from Iran. Tyler has been vocal about his pro-immigration, anti-Trump stance since even before Trump won the election.

This video clearly shows Rocky is being stalked by a group of migrants.

I wonder if this is cause for Tyler to reconsider his liberal policy on immigration. Somehow I doubt it.

Girls have it made
Girls have more fun
Girls have their way
To get lovers anytime they want
Anytime she needs some lovin'
Anytime she just gives a sign
It won't take her long to find a man to oblige
Guys got to plot
Guys got to plan
Guys got to lie, cheat, steal
Do anything he can
Anything to get her to love him
Anything to make her agree
That's the way it's been since Adam and Eve
Girls can get it anytime they want
Girls can get it where a man often won't
Everybody's always after some lovin' now and then
A woman gets it faster than any man can
Girls can get it anytime they like
Girls can get it a fact of life
If she calls you for some lovin' in the middle of the night
She can get a man runnin' at the speed of light
We all look for love
Somewhere, sometime
Girls find it first
They find it morning, noon and night
And it's a wonder of nature, eighth wonder of the world
That a man's got to chase her if he's gonna get the girl
Oh, when a woman wants love
A woman gets love
And it's for sure she's gonna find it
Before the sun comes up
Girls can get it, they pick and choose
Girls can get it, men are always in the mood
If she calls you for some lovin' in the middle of the night
She can get a man runnin' at the speed of light
Girls can get it anytime they like
Girls can get it a fact of life
Oh, you know she'll find it easy
You know that she can
It's like givin' a little water to a thirsty man
Girls can get it anytime they want
Girls can get it where a man often won't
Thanks for posting this. My wife and I got such a kick out of this song. She had a good day yesterday (compared to most days). We watched this and then played some other old Dr. Hook songs "Cover of the Rolling Stone", "Sylvia's Mother", "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman".... haha. Great druggy pop songs. She even made enchiladas for dinner which is the first time she has cooked anything in a few months. My youngest daughter came over and we watched "Big Brother" together.

We called my oldest daughter who is living out of town with her FTM trans boyfriend... and... they have a new room-mate named "Ell" (sp) who uses the "They, Them" pronouns. Haha. At one point in the conversation my wife told my daughter that "Sometimes you have to take care of your partner.... like your dad has done for me for the last decade." And we all laughed because it is true.

I actually don't mind taking care of her when she is grateful and a bit kind to me. It is when she attacks me for stupid shit that I get frustrated.... but.... yesterday was the opposite of that... so yesterday was a good day.... and it started with Dr. Hook and the Medicine show.

I've actually contacted twitter support, telling them I don't have a phone ( 8-) ) and that if I can unlock my account by some other means, that would be hunky-D. Just to see what happens, really. As it stands, I'm happy enough watching the news feeds without logging in. It feels weirdly more refreshing that way.

Amazing, though, that of all the groups I've vocally wished nastiness upon over twitter, the straw which finally broke the camel(shaggers) back was...ISIS. Twitter truly is fucked up.

There's an article in the Atlantic suggesting that evangelical christians in the US (or at least some of their organisations) are seeing a decrease in numbers (at least among the younger members) by becoming too explicitly political.
