We used to have one of those, in my neighborhood. She sold her used 'elf panties' online & drank Budweiser. Ended-up with a friend of mine, long-term, & she stuck by him when his brain turned into cancer. She's the real-deal that all the blue-haired quirky feminists fail to emulate, today:

If Farage was referring to Rotherham and all the rest, I'm not sure how they can begin to call it a "baseless claim". But the link is to a BBC article which describes an Ofcom decision about Fox News in 2017. Rotherham was public knowledge by then, even officially acknowledged as a failure on the part of the police and local government agencies to do their jobs. The rot must be deep at both the BBC and the NYT if neither is willing to let even the evil Farage say that thousands of girls were abused and raped by Muslim grooming gangs. They might not like it, but it is true.A separate investigation by British regulators found that Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson had violated British impartiality standards: Hannity for ridiculing critics of Trump’s proposed travel ban without presenting a full version of their views or giving them an opportunity to respond, and Carlson for allowing Nigel Farage to make baseless claims that British officials had failed to protect “thousands of underage girls” from rape and abuse by Muslims.
No idea - I might as well live a million miles away from the setting(s) of his books and have no experience of the places in question. Love his books though and his writing style.
Very familiar. It's distressing to see the tactics employed by lowlifes like PZ, Watson and Zvan go global. Back in the day when we Pitters had so much fun mocking the people infecting the A/S scene, we had no idea that their shitty entryism tactics would go so globally mainstream. While the roots of "woke totalitarianism" go way back before Elevatorgate, it almost seems from today's perpective like the attack on the A/S institutions was a practice run in anticipation of greater "woke" battles in the future. Unfortunately, no one listened to the Pit when we warned the internet at large about the danger of laying down for these shitheads. Maybe the crude style of the Pit turned people off of the message, but I tend to think that we would have been ignored regardless... and look at where we are now. At least the Pit achieved one goal - relentlessly mocking Peez and FTB into total irrelevance. Unfortunately, SJW tactics live on, on a scale that dwarfs what we were fighting back in 2011. So, not much was gained by beating PZ into the mud, although it was hella fun. But there's only so much one site can do.Matt Cavanaugh wrote: ↑ Sound familiar?
How Our Little Humanist Club Got Taken Over by Social Justice Dogmatists
Double jeopardy is not an issue here, for the simple reason that jeopardy has never attached. For that to happen either a jury would have had to have been enpanelled. That never happened.Service Dog wrote: ↑ Lastly, there's a petition from a-former-assistant-state's-attorney-under-Kim-Foxx, named Saani Mohammed. My sympathies err on the side of accused individual walking-free when the govt fucks-up... but I think there's some poetic justice in Smollett having-gotten such an impossible sweet deal from Foxx... that Smollett lost the protections which come-with an actual deal. The $10,000 'fine' doesn't count, because there's nothing on the books about it. The 'community service' doesn't count, because it wasn't arranged or approved in the normal way.
I still don't get American Psycho. So...what was it, all a dream then? Some sort of fantasy? I'm guessing there must be some kind of profound or satirical statement on the human condition as it relates to 1980s yuppiedom in there somewhere, but I'll be buggered if I can find it.
Sorry, that should have been "jury would have had to have been enpanelled or a witness have been called in a non-jury trial".BoxNDox wrote: ↑Double jeopardy is not an issue here, for the simple reason that jeopardy has never attached. There may be some local rule about multiple indictments or whatever, but that's not the same as double jeopardy.
Andy Ngo does awesome work. One of the few reputable investigative journalists left.Service Dog wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2019 7:09 pmIn the past month, post-Jussie Smollett, there have been a rash of 15 anti-gay, lesbian, trans hate crime attacks in Portland, Oregon; perpetrated by armed gangs of white homophobes, according to LGBT activists.
The activists posted names, addresses, & phone #'s of men they allege were the attackers.
A reporter named Andy Ngo looked-into the claims, and found only one had been reported to police... and the incident report described the trans-victim as being so drunk s/h/it probably fell & hit her own head. S/h/it lost the gun s/h/it was carrying. S/h/it had no memory of what happened.
The NY Post ran Andy Ngo's story. I haven't read it.

The gory bits were fun though.
And I'm relieved I don't have to watch Last Exit to Brooklyn again - miserable and un-enjoyable enough as it was the first time. American Psycho was a bit less wretched, but not by much. The truth is that lots of bad films have been made. Just because they were made does not mean we are obliged to watch or enjoy them. Hollywood has made mistakes. Big deal. Use your sensibility and like, or dislike, what suits you. It's that simple.Bhurzum wrote: ↑This is not an exit.Tigzy wrote: ↑I still don't get American Psycho. So...what was it, all a dream then? The only movie that I cannot endure is "Eraserhead" - I get bordeline suicidal watching that accursed film. Everything about it strikes a nerve with me: the black & white, the industrial background noises, the stilted and confusing dialogue, everything is perfectly tailored to make me want to kick my air addiction.
I've not seen it in years. I heard that Lynch made it shortly after his wife gave birth - leading him to incorporate some of those feelings of alienation into the movie.Bhurzum wrote: ↑

Shuddering just thinking about it...
Credit were credit is due, PZ & co would have reached total irrelevance sooner or latter anyway.Matt Cavanaugh wrote: ↑Our crude style and relentless mocking is also what goaded the Baboons into revealing their true inner selves to the rest of the world.Gumby wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 4:50 am. Though Rebecca Watson's B.O. is probably what did it for Dawkins.

I'll buy that 'Double Jeopardy' might be defined in too-specific & narrow a way to apply, but there does seem to be a principle at stake here, something like 'Res Judicata' or 'Collateral Estoppel' or invoking the 5th Amendment. The State decided not to prosecute. A valid court accepted & processed the nolle prosse. Game Over.
I'm surprised it took so long for her to play the race card.Service Dog wrote: ↑Chicago prosecutor Kim Foxx suggests race is involved in Jussie Smollett dismissal backlash

Presented another way: all of the UK favored brexit except NI, Scotland, and London. The Northern Irish don't want the hassle of border crossings, the Scots don't want the hassle of learning to speak English, and the Londoners want to remain in the coming EU Caliphate.
