To lovely sacha posting a pic of Watson:

I must say, sacha, my love, my dearest dear (oh woe is me, is truly me, that I could never meet/meat your liqourish requirements ... pout, pout, and pout doubleplus), that that is without doubt the best pic of Watson I've ever seen. She actually looks like an attractive human being, rather than, well, er, um, you know ... the rest of it all.
Just sayin'.
Also, welcome, with bells and vigorous whistles, and cups of Elevatorâ„¢ brand coffee, to all the new members/posters, with most especial and wriggly-lab-dog-wiggly-tail-glee notice to Al SteffiDude, I, sir, am most pleasured with your appearance.

But what is this spartan "gumbercules" thing to which it links?
Anything like tubercules?
Me: Doctor, doctor, I've got a case of the Gumbercules!

He just added Matt Dillahunty today.
I wonder how this will work out? This is a small conference, so not as easy to avoid people.
Actually, PZ probably has more beef with another speaker, Josh Rosenau (who is, in PZ's defense, stupid and whiny). Another example.
It is amazing how many 'enemies' he has amassed, though.
I live near there (well, in LA), so I might show up and bring me some popcorn.

I am not that PRIVILEGED!
BTW, this was a single tiered seated balconied theatre of which I talk, not the whole "hall".
4K isn't bad for Oz, relatively speaking.
It certainly outdoes the Yank-wank Tam-scam attendee/population ratio even further!
1,200/313,847,465 (July 2012 est. ex CIA) = 3.8 per million
4,000/22,015,576 (July 2012 est. ") = 181.7 per million

If you click on the link in the footer you'll be taken to a basic page with a search box at top right. If you purchase your Amazon.com goodies through that search box, it'll help the pennies come in to support the Pit.
Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions...
(I’m assuming when I click the link to take me from amazon.com to the amazon.co.uk front page you lose the referral.)
While my love is great, I’m not sure it’s enough for me to pay for and wait on international shipping.

I'm now going to waste 10 seconds considering why he put those 2 in juxtaposition: Shame/repentance/coverup for the thread about Al, felt a need to get back in with racism-sensitive A+'ers? Had some grand plan all along to post them back-to-back? The pair of topics actually is intended to take a poke at Al's Mormon friends, or at Al for having Mormon friends? (If applicable.) "Confronting" Becca
So, according to Rebecca Watson, this is the sort of "confrontation" that should have someone banned from a conference:
(quoting from original Pit)
I'm interested in the sequence because I suspect that, based on their standard operating procedure:
The DMCAing preceded the tweet in question. That is, he was doxed for his criticism of Rebecca Watson. A later paranoid interpretation of a tweet became the post hoc rationale. Although they claim he was fired for his tweet, more likely he was fired because Rebecca and her friends (she admits to pissing off tweeters, banning them and letting her minions do the work) did a Justin Vacula on him.
If someone can give me a sense of what was said when by whom, and explain it to me like I'm an idiot, it would be appreciated.

gender traitors international
June 28, 10:16 pm
The evening of 9 July, I will be attending “a private meet-and-greet with Steve Novella, Bob Novella, Jay Novella, Rebecca Watson, and Evan Bernstein from “The Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe.†Come join us for some light refreshments, get your picture taken with the hosts of SGU, ask them that question that you’ve always been dying to ask, or just hang out with like-minded folks who are also interested in all things skeptic and science.â€
Any requests? I’d be more than happy to give Beccie a letter from the slimepit, and/or just leave her a card, and yes, I will be wearing an ERV – Gender Traitor badge.
Plus I think I shall make a Gender Traitors International badge as well.
I should have business cards with gender traitors international, and my name to hand out…
So, is the the guy they DMCA the guy who apparently tweeted something rape-y? Hard to know what that was as Rebecca's definition of confrontational, as we see above, is creative. Any screen caps of that tweet? Is this the guy they got fired?JackRayner wrote:By the by, Mykeru, if you're looking for more on the doxxing of @ElevatorGate, you can find Sulky Amy's proxy here.
As you may have already seen from his Tumblr blog, 3 of his posts were DMCA'd by Amy. These DMCA claims were filled on July 25th, July 30th, and August 9th, but he didn't actually notice until August 17th, a few days after GirlWritesWhat posted the video about the DMCA's against her. Around the time, as people were brainstorming ways for GWW to make a counter-claim without having to expose her personal information, [feminists have done some nasty stuff to gender-traitors like her before...] someone suggested this fellow. GWW did something else, but when EG got DMCA'd, I began PM'd him for a bit [I don't think he'll mind it being mentioned, it's nothing exceptional] and suggested that he try that fellow out. He told me he would counter-claim on his own, and I left it alone. I never quite asked him why. It was by the next day, I believe, that I caught word that he was being doxxed by the idiot linked above.
TL;DR:
- Sulky Amy DMCA'd @ElevatorGate thrice between July 25th and August 9th
- @ElevatorGate noticed on August 17th, at which point he either counter-claimed on the same night or the following day.
- By the 18th, Sulky Amy's proxy was created, and began doxxing @ElevatorGate.
I'm interested in the sequence because I suspect that, based on their standard operating procedure:
The DMCAing preceded the tweet in question. That is, he was doxed for his criticism of Rebecca Watson. A later paranoid interpretation of a tweet became the post hoc rationale. This white bitch is really conflating her middle class, white little club non-issues with the motherfucking one-drop rule? Why don't you go ahead and say next time that woman is the nigger of the world? It took me a while, but I finally figured out what was so familiar about it. It’s the one-drop rule rewritten for our situation.

We're going to need our own dictionary pretty soon, and with entries like that I think it would outsell PZ's red-shifted opuscule.real horrorshow wrote: Poor agapornis is taking a right slapping over there, with our old pal LeftSidePositive going for some kind of Chyme Pit* record post length. Tough buns Zeffalump!"Disbelief in the existence of a supreme being or beings." That's it. You want to go wibbling on about feminism? Well there's already a word for that. It's 'feminism'. Aren't dictionaries great?

Yes I have and the offer still stands. In fact I have always made it clear anyone I talk about or have a dispute with is welcome to come on my show and clear up any misconceptions or to tell me what they think of me directly. I have a certain amount of respect for anyone who will do that no matter what it is they have to say.
I utterly despise philosophy.
I am not a humanist.
I have residual speech difficulties.

I am Australian.
I don't enjoy juvenile banter (anymore).

So, no longer the "third wave", no longer "purging" the misogynist minority from the atheist ranks, no longer pushing aside the privileged, old, white, males to make way for the New World Order etc. Now even they can't see themselves as the "big tent", the moral majority and, if that quote sums them up, what a sad little collective they have become.rayshul wrote:Currently in A+ forum land, where they're talking about the haters. It seems as if they've decided that A+ is only for the marginalised and people-without-privilege, which is confusing because by their definition a bunch of us here would be considered marginalised or people-without-privilege (PWP, eh! HAH). Via Setar:
Hng. It's not for the marginalised. It's for people who enjoy the idea of being victims. Big difference.Atheism+ is not a big tent. It's not intended to be a big tent.
Big tents are for and by the privileged. Marginalized people may exist inside a big tent, but the will of the big tent will always be skewed towards its most privileged members -- see the Democratic and Republican parties in the United States.
This is a small tent. This is a tent of the marginalized. This is where we go when we're sick of people in the big tent trying to push us around.
You'd almost give them the "loser" sign, but it seems like laughing at the weedy kid after the bad boys stuck a knife in his football.
Ah. What the hell.

Now, to be fair, it was the number of attendees at the whole festival (which included acts such as Blind Guardian, Motor Head, Twisted Sisters [Dee Snyder was with us at the airport, without make-up, reminded me of Bryon James], Dragonforce, Sonata Arctica, Jethro Tull, Y & C, Angra...). The public we had will performing was around 2000, as we played on one of the smaller stages.Michael K Gray wrote:In a double-tiered enclosed Opera Theatre? Beer tasted like piss, sandwiches were horrible, ambiance was grandiose.
In 2010, though, I played a show with Iron Mask for the Grasspop festival, and the tent we played under was fully packed (about 5000). I won't even bother to list the bands, but will probably post a pic of myself with Slash, because I like to brag!

Wonderful innit? A+ inclusivity. Speak our language or fuck off you third world turd. I used to take care of genuine apostates on another site, one's from places like Iran where they get murdered, encouraging them to discuss, bad english be damned (that's the kind of bigot I am). Imagine any of these people encountering A+ as their first baby step away from religion?Specimen, bonjour!
I speak several languages including French, and I'm afraid you don't possess the English language skills to communicate properly in such a serious and mindful discussion. I think you are better off just reading right now, and maybe you can get a buddy who writes English better to help you write posts so you can participate and offer your own contributions to this thread.

Wow, some great new faces in here. What does that tell us about them? Does that mean they're 'haters', 'misogynists', or (even more bizarrely) 'racists'? No it doesn't. All it says is that they don't believe that simply by posting in a particular forum you somehow become 'unclean'. I've posted on Christian forums before. Am I a Christian? No! Do I agree with everything on here? Of course not.
I haven't posted in a while because I moved house and such a backlog built up that I can't be bothered to go through it. Also, I do feel slightly intimidated by those who forced Justin to step down. I really do tread as carefully as I would with Scientologists, and it's sad that it's come to that.

To be fair, they have some discussions of atheism but by just briefly looking at the numbers I would say that maybe a third of the discussions there are about atheisms, at the very best. The most lolzy thing about their forums is that they ban people on a whim:ReneeHendricks wrote:Stephie Zvan just puts fingers to keyboard and vomit flies out: http://freethoughtblogs.com/almostdiamo ... -activism/

during the discussion of male birth control some guy named "Ramrod" posts some crap, then he is banned after one warning and then the A+ people justify their trigger happy attitude with this kick-ass mind reading ability:
Hahahahaha!Ramrod is a name from an old movie called "Vice squad" and this character was a horrible pimp and beater of women and murderer. This character was really, really sadistic and would use metal hangers to beat up his prostitutes. I personally think that is where this dude got his handle and was here to make trouble to start with.
