Some lurker posted a questionable pic of a girl with what looked like jizz on her face. I said it looked questionable. Lsuoma banned the lurker. Ool0n had given up arguing seriously and was trying his best to troll people with the gendered slur arguments. He downloaded the pic and tried to troll some more. If people are looking for crazy foreign/subtitled films, I recommend Symbol. It's probably not for everybody. But if you're the type of person who is intrigued by human "Mouse Trap" type things, it's a quite entertaining watch.

The movie is broken into two halves. First, it's about a mexican pro-wrestler who is apprehensive before his next fight. Second (the main part) is about one main in a blank white room, trying to escape. How they come together is...interesting to say the least.

I AM NOT AN MD, but it MAY BE that what your doctor meant was that as the surgeon removed the piece of tongue, a pathologist would rapidly freeze the piece of tissue and examine slices of it through a microscope. The purpose is to make sure the surgeon removes all of the suspicious thing, and NOT to provide a diagnosis (that will be done later, using a similar process but with better preparations of the removed tissue).

So, the "issue" your doc suggested MIGHT be whether the surgeon has been forced to leave behind some suspicious tissue in order to preserve important structures.

re: the secular census bs-

One of my closest friends in college and several years after was a woman who got her degree and worked in a STEM field. Conservatively, I'd guess that the gender split in her field was 80/20 m/f. She never complained about anything like sexual harassment or misogyny, but she was always terribly insecure about often being being the only woman in the room. It's not like she was some shrinking violet, either, it's just human nature to feel uncomfortable sticking out. I worked a job for a few years in the exact opposite situation. A lot of times I felt uncomfortable being the only man in the room.

The online "atheist census" puts the gender split in atheism at something like 75/25 iirc. That's probably weighted to the male side just by virtue of being an online poll, but based on experience it's in the right neighborhood, yeah? All things considered, I'm honestly kind of surprised the number of women who reported feeling uncomfortable sometime somewhere at some event wasn't even higher. Maybe the data actually shows what a great job secular communities are doing promoting women's attendance at events.

Or maybe the data shows that women are more forthright about feeling uncomfortable than men. Or maybe the data shows that women can expect rampant ass-grabbing and fake jewelry at secular events. I know I'm like the hundredth person to say this today, but there's no way of knowing because the survey was so poorly designed.

Only answers are yes or no. How do they know whether you've complained about keeping religious shit out of public places, or whether you really want someone to finally fix the pothole in the road near your house?

They are also very interested in whether or not you are a charity donor or not, including how much you've donated. I expect that's more to line up potential ~~easy marks~~ donors.

Smells corrupt as fuck. And a big fail at collecting data, if their purpose is really what they claim.

I did biology and psychology in undergrad-- we had numerous *courses* just on generating surveys. I assumed this one was written by someone with no training at all... not a goddamn PhD. I dont even know how that is possible...

Complaining that nurses get paid less than the average construction worker as if it were a misogynistic culture that promotes this is retarded. They're just two different jobs and the employer will always pay the least they feel they can get away with.

When male nurses get paid less than female construction workers (they do) people don't scream about the matriarchy.

This is actually a big deal among mainstream feminism. It's called comparable worth. The idea is that they create an index figure for different job categories. The indexes are heavily weighted on time spent getting educated for the job and do not weigh risk or personal discomfort. As a result, jobs like coal miner tend to score closely to jobs like waitress, since niether requires a high school education. Yes, they are trying to push this into law, and Minnesota published their index on the web.

Of that, I don't have a doubt. However, they told me and my guy that as soon as they removed the mass, they could check it and see. Kind of assholish if you ask me.

I hope it hasn't spread further and your guy has a speedy recovery. It was irresponisible of them to tell you that they could determine it right away. It might be obvious at the time of removal, but often it isn't and requires labwork to be sure.
When I was in the recovery room just coming out of anesthesia from my biopsy, the surgeon stopped in and said "Looks like cancer." and left. He didn't answer my calls for ten days after that.

It's my understanding that Canada did this a while back. It made construction work and office cleaner the same pay grade. It didn't take long for all those construction workers to go for the nice cushy office jobs, creating a severe labor shortage within the construction industry.

When I wasn't on moderation, my posts would simply appear, I could get replies, etc. But now when I post, I feel like it just might be for nothing, because it's not even posted. Now, I can see how you could interpret the parts where she acknowledges she's gotten enough of a response from her readers as dismissing the contributions of the pitters, but given how many pitters were himming and hawwing over anonymity or outright refusing, I can't imagine a great deal came from the pit, and it may not have been easy to identify those that did due to anonymous donations, making it a rather unfair interpretation given the bolded parts.

That was when I immediately changed from supporting you to saying you should be banned or moderated.

When it was pointed out what you did that was so problematic, you didn't take responsibility for it, instead you said, "I was only joking". Of course, the big rationalization of false accusations is they are made in the heat of the moment, and the person says, "I was only joking."

Eucliwood -- no one wants to ban you for your ideas but the truth is you have repeatedly acted irresponsibly towards this forum and to Jason Thibeault and you have done so that makes it very problematic for everyone including, especially Lsuoma and possibly ERV because you are underage.

Having scientists mess with our food on behalf of industry is pretty scary. I certainly don't trust them to put safety ahead of profit.

There are probably people who are dumb enough to think it might result in mutant killer tomatoes, but for others there would be concerns about introduction of alien species... what effect will it have on local populations of insects and the knock on effect, for example.

Farmers are not particularly well trusted either after the Mad Cow Disease thing. We just had this thing in the UK with burgers being contaminated with horse meat which caused some people (my daughter) to freak out. So it is understandable that people get nervous when they are told that scientists are splicing in octopus DNA to our food (or whatever). I think half the problem is that very few people know anything about GMO.

I don't go to FTB and don't get their tweets. But am I right in saying that those that promoted the idea are now keeping the forum at arms length? Has this new wave, new movement become just a forum with a few whiners or is somebody actually pushing this forward elsewhere?

I never see mentioned this very legitimate concerns of farmers:

* People around the globe are willing to pay a premium for non-GMO produce.
This may well be evidence-free emotion-based purchasing, but a massive market exists, nonetheless.
* Farmers can gain a fair bit of extra money for their crops if they are able to certify them "GMO Free".
* If it is a "free go", such that their neighbours are permitted to plant GM crops, then this infringes on their business-plan, as they are no longer able to claim "GMO Free" status. This is a lot like ancient "riparian rights" disputes in law, but not related to water supply, but clean pollen-free air.
* Tasmania is trying to take advantage of this premium, and declare the entire island to be "GMO Free", not out of any concerns about wither the technology, nor the influence of Monsanto, but because as a whole, Taswegian farmers can make a SHIT-LOAD by selling their produce in Europe.

Nothing to do with "safety", nor "corporate control", but everything to do with consumer choice, rational or not.
