I stayed out of that one. The Israel/Palestine business is something I learned quite early to STFU about.Michael K Gray wrote:GoyGatesacha wrote:anything else in the past few days besides DragonConGate?
Not only am I genetically around 12.5% Jewish (Spanish Sephardi ) but I have relatives with the right to return, a cousin who lived on a kibbutz with his family and another cousin who lives in Israel.
My Godmother was Jewish (Portugese Sephardi) but married a Christian Arab. I have another friend who is a secular Jew and friends with some of his relatives who include the offspring of a Jewish father and Catholic mother.
Then to top it off, I spent a significant amount of my formative years around Syrians and Lebanese (Druze/Muslims/Christians) and still count a number of them as friends.
There are certain topics we never discuss. But that is not the only touchy subject I have kept radio silence on. For example ex-wife's Maltese/Italian relatives to this day have no idea that I have German relatives.

(But the traditional cheery greeting round these here parts is a hearty "fuck off", as a test of robustness.)
The various incarnations of the Slimepit/Slymepit have been essentially dedicated to revealing the innate and alarmingly endemic naked hypocrisy in the FfTB, Skepchick, A✟Theism, and other sundry incestuously related propaganda sites that act all "crawly bum leg" to any fake self-declared feminists.
And documenting it, providing textual evidence, links, references and LOGIC.
And a bit of joking around that annoys the Social Justice Word Police, to provide comic relief from the depressingly outrageous lies, fraud, and cultish demagoguery of the above hypocrites.

I know from recent / current experience, how much it sucks having to wait for test results. Rather grating experience.
Today I accompanied my gal to the hospital for the first out-patient check-up after her release. Further info at the end of week. Another CT and MRT will be scheduled around the end of February. Immuno-suppressivas aren't completely off the table yet, but I feel like my gal might get lucky, as the first look at today result's were quite promising.
We'll see how the further tests will turn out.
Again, I'm on a 3+ hour ride on public transport towards work tomorrow... can't wait to reach my sleeping location, Friday, I'll go back home again, to spend the weekend with the fair maiden. At least the job pays well enough, so I can go home as often as possible.
I have 5 pages to catch-up to, so I'll wait till I'm done reading them or coming upon a post I want to reply to before commenting again. AFAIC, I'm bailing off the zionist/muslims/arabs conversation. I don't care enough about these issues to bring anything new to the talk.

Ok, one last thing I wanted to comment about re Muslims in Europe, from a post by NippleTwister:
Here is the thing with halal food that bugs me the most (beside the animals' suffering, which goes without saying): everytime you pay for meat labelled halal (some of which is not even halal but still sold as such), a part of the price you pay goes directly to the muslim organisation that certifies the meat. So when you buy halal meat, you more or less directly give money to a religious organisation. Same with the kosher label.
People can do whatever they want with their money, but you won't find me financialy supporting a religion. Any religion. Which means I don't order food from my local delivery services, since they've all switched to halal meat. And when I want to have some cholent or other traditional jewish dishes, I cook it myself with ingredients and meat that haven't found a god yet.
He complains about western institutions considering serving only halal meat as the standard, because offering choices would be too costly or impractical, and seemingly, the complaints of minority activists are more important than the complaints of the majority. Many westerners do not like halal because of the suffering of the animal.

Maybe it would be a more practical solution to freeze his assets until after his trial? I don't really know if that's legally doable, but if it is, it would speed up the justice process substantialy.Dick Strawkins wrote: It's hardly like he hasn't been given an opportunity to have his day in court.
It's been over 12 YEARS since the original charges were made and his entire strategy is consistant with someone who has one single intention - to delay the case against him for as long as legally possible.
In the meantime he is able to have his freedom and has been caught in a hotelroom with a naked underage boy.
Yes, nothing proven in court. Yet.
The problem here is that continuing to support him financially seems to be closely connected with his avoidance of the court case.
These are serious charges and we probably both agree that he deserves to put forward his case.
The question is whether treating him as 'innocent until proven guilty' is the ethical policy here.
I am not saying we should lynch him, just that giving him money isn't helping to quickly resolve the situation.
There is a saying that 'justice delayed is justice denied' that may well apply here.

Lsuoma,is there anything I can do to get off of moderation? For me, instead of being kicked out of the house, it's like being chained in the basement with special hours for upstairs play time (when you're here to approve my posts).
If so, should I kiss your feet or something?
On a more serious note... if not, then tell me - if there is nothing that can be done by me. I'd have to start looking for some place to replace this place, but it's better to be told upfront than to sit as the months pass by and realize "okay, this is not going to be lifted no matter what I do."

Mr reading of the situation is that they desperately want him gone but not at any price.
I guess they could do some sort of winding up of the company and restarting it without him but that would probably expose them to legal action from him (if DragonCon was his idea he might claim they are infringing his intellectual property rights)
In any case I don't envy them. It's a horrible situation.

I bow to your expertise on mindless dogmaticism about Israel. Clearly, you are a SME on it.Git wrote:Welsh, I couldn't give a fuck what people like VickyCaramel think, especially when they reveal their true colours, and bring up the same old tried anti-Israel arguments time and time again, or deny reality staring in the face. Yes, I've lost patience with them, and handled them roughly, but so what? You can't reason someone out of a position they haven't reasoned themselves into. For the likes of VC, their anti-Israel hatred is a religion, and they are true believers.
Re: Now sponsored by
my dick
Oh look at you, telling people how they are allowed to criticize Israel.Git wrote:I never said that.Steersman wrote: And, for one, to assert, apparently, that all criticism of Israel constitutes “anti-Israel hatred [as] a religion†doesn’t seem particularly charitable or creditable.
Criticising Israel to a similar standard as other countries is fine. Hell, I'll do it myself: the lack of civil marriage in Israel (marriages must fall into one of three religious Abrahamic categories) is utterly ridiculous and completely wrong, for example.
The problem arises whenever, and I've made this bloody clear, when Israel is held up as some sort of unique evil. That is when it becomes a religion.

An average score for this test is 26.2, or 21.9 for an adult with Asperger Syndrome or High-Functioning Autism
(I noticed that whenever a "new" emotion showed up in the list, that was often the right answer, though. So I'm either neurotypical or aspie-ish enough to fake it by spotting a pattern in the test.)

This story was passed on by my dad, probably by his dad...as my dad was only 3 when the Italian AirForce tried to bomb the shit out of Malta. apparently they were so hopeless that the Luftwaffe had to come in and do the job properly...which they almost did.Michael K Gray wrote:Don't mention the war.AndrewV69 wrote:For example ex-wife's Maltese/Italian relatives to this day have no idea that I have German relatives.
The story my dad tells me is that the Italians weren't hopeless it was just that a lot of the Italian nobility and upper classes were hiding in Malta to get away from the war on the mainland...thinking Malta would be safe.
Malta, the nation, was awarded the George Cross for their resilience and bravery.
All stand for the dodgy youtube version of the Maltese national anthem:
