Wow. Now I'm fantasising about what I would do with a list of actual names of people who were trying to destroy me.

I would also see it as a huge compliment. In evolutionary theory it's called the 'derogation of rivals'. Justin must be some rival!
As a joke, there are also some of us who signed that petition as a joke with a joking comment, things like "because Justin is evil and made it rain last weekend" and something like that (I forget what mine was). It was probably a bad idea, since the petition starter is allowed to strip comments but leave the names showing. Also a bad idea since it upped their numbers.

mordacious1 wrote:Jerry has an article https://whyevolutionistrue.wordpress.co ... ery-store/ about ducks today, which reminded me of this joke which I know he wouldn't allow, so I'm posting it here instead (with slight modifications):

Ducks in Heaven
Ophelia and two of her female friends are leaving a "Women Skeptics" meeting, get hit by a bus, die and go to Heaven. When they get there, St Peter says, "Don't worry about being atheists, we don't care. We only have one rule here in Heaven: Don't step on the ducks!"

They enter Heaven, and sure enough, there are ducks all over the place. It is almost impossible not to step on a duck, and although they try their best to avoid them, the first woman accidentally steps on one.

Along comes St Peter with the ugliest man she ever saw. St Peter chains them together and says, "Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this ugly man." Ophelia remarks to her friend that the man was hideous and they'd better be careful.

The next day, the second woman steps accidentally on a duck, and along comes St Peter, who doesn't miss a thing, and with him is another extremely ugly man (in fact, it was Greg Laden's long lost twin brother). He chains them together with the same admonishment as for the first woman.

Ophelia has observed all this and not wanting to be chained for all eternity to an ugly man, is very, VERY careful where she steps. She manages to go months without stepping on any ducks, but one day St Peter comes up to her with the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on. He is tall, tanned, slim and muscular.

St Peter chains them together without saying a word.

Ophelia, thinking that this is great, remarks, "I always said I didn't like men on Earth, but I lied. I always wanted to be with one, especially a handsome one. I wonder what I did to deserve being chained to you for all of eternity."

The guy says, "I don't know about you, but I stepped on a duck."

Best version of that joke ever!

Why is our Supreme Court all wearing Santa Claus suits?!?!?! If they are having self esteem problems, maybe they shouldn't dress so funny. Why did I not know they looked like this? I'm so embarrassed as a Canadian to see this. Is this because the North Pole is on Canadian owned land?

The Supreme Court should be a serious thing. Please tell me that this picture is from their xmas party. Please?

I think a common defence is 'she/he didn't resist or shout out'. It is even in the bible as a defence. So yes I'm sure it is something worth looking at.
Yes, it was only up until quite recently that a woman had to prove she resisted - if she didn't, it wasn't rape. The tonic mobility thing is interesting, I suspect its akin to 'playing possum/dead' - animals do this involuntarily in many species. I also think it's interesting in light of other findings about psychosexual difference such as women being far more risk averse than men (one of the reasons why they live longer!)

Well, you would be, unless you were a big girl and blew them all out your backside and got on with a normal life.

Yes, Ophelia Benson. Go find what I'm referring to.

Lots of hits on this page for Ophelia Benson. Not sure why. Would Ophelia Benson have anything to do with it?

OMG They're talking about me on the Slymepit again says Ophelia Benson. Can I copy and paste from a thread? Yes I can.

Fuck you. Girls don't get those. Only men deserve suitable misogynistic, rape enabling, patriarchal, chill girl, woman hating, mansplaining welcomes.
i think this is about as short and effective an encapsulation of the slymepit as can be done

You should post your real name, address and the location of all your family members before you... etc. etc.

Interestingly, the hostname this post was made from began with "ool-". Should I be concerned?

Still $1.25K away from the goal. Check out http://support.operationsmile.org/goto/reneehendricks and put the word out. I know that Justin Vacula's fundraiser will help a bit. But I'd love to hit that $5K mark before the end of the month!
