Having worked in a porn shop more than a few years ago, yep, it exists. There are quite a few niches that your average person is probably blissfully unaware :)karlaporter wrote:I had no idea that even exists.welch wrote:

After awhile, i learned that if she came home from work with a brand new bottle of vodka, no one wanted to go into the spare room. She still only shudders when you say "granny porn". Ew.

Re: Jim the Pleb Made Me Do It
I don't think it can be emphasized enough that civil attempts at discussion have been made MANY MANY times, and are STILL being attempted (Justin Vacula being one example). It might surprise you but many of the people here were driven here after engaging in good faith at FTB or elsewhere. For example just recently mentioned: debaser71, KiwiInOz, anotherlurker. If you look at many people's introductory posts here you will see many similar stories, I have one for example. We didn't go to in expecting people on that "side" to behave badly, but they did. Reality brought us here, not denial of it.erikthebassist wrote:What I don't see is many pitters admitting that their own perception of FTB vs the reality might also be askew.
Perhaps it will be interesting for you to know that there are some people who mostly or completely left the Slymepit because they didn't like vulgarity (note: that is probably oversimplifying their positions, I don't mean to misrepresent them, I'm just trying to be brief). For example there are Damion and Notung who used to post here more but now mostly do not. Why are you not engaging with them, but are engaging with us here? Did you even know about them? I imagine that a significant reason why JV's recent interactions with Michael Nugent are getting so much intention is precisely *because* JV engages at the Slymepit.
So here's an important question: How are you supposed to engage with someone who attempts to silence, defame, and ignore you?

Re: Jim the Pleb Made Me Do It
One thing that's pretty clear to me is that the context of a lot of those quotes are EXACTLY because "someone big" is watching. I.E. you get the people who are just watching to wait for something awful and terrible so people exaggerate what they're saying in order to rile those people up and piss them off. Not something I like to think is helpful and constructive...I'm a bit of an idealist...ReneeHendricks wrote:LOL! Sally has decided we've changed our tune here on the 'Pit 'cuz "someone big" is watching us. She mentioned Zvan in this comment but I'm going to assume she meant Nugent.
But I have no doubt that it IS constructive. It bashes down the doors and forces conversations and discussion about the things that the baboons don't want to talk about, namely the bigoted, privileged and authoritarian/hierarchical ideas and concepts that they're promoting.
It WORKS. It's really clear that it works. Again, not something that makes me happy on a personal level, but it is what it is. It gets people's attention.
Note that Nugent is doing everything in his power to avoid opening that door and starting that aspect of the conversation, even though it's ESSENTIAL to understanding what is going on. He has the complete ability to defuse a large part of the situation, again, by taking a fair and unbiased look at the bigot brigade and to see what the fuck they're actually doing, but he's closing his eyes and putting his fingers in his ears and going "PIT PIT PIT". Yeah.

Slymepitter: What the fuck? Did you read what I said? What the fuck is going on?
Nugent: Why do you consider it is morally justified to swear?
Slymepitter: What? Swearing's not immoral. What are you talking about?
Nugent: Okay. But how is it morally justified to swear but you still don't want to see a photoshopped image of a female blogger's head on a nude woman's body on your forum? They are obviously for all reasonable purposes equivalent.
Slymepitter: Wait. Why aren't we talking about the hostile and non-skeptical behaviour of purported leaders in the community, including in creating an in-group of dogmatic ideologues?
Nugent: No. Together we need to move past the swearing. How do you justify it? Pick 25 posts from the Slymepit that you disagree with and why they are horrendous and why you consider it was appropriate for censorship to have occurred.
Slymepitter: Can I explain why we have an issue with the gender feminists? You might see then why we would swear in a social situation.
Nugent: No. Swearing is always inappropriate except with reference to religious people. Please do not talk about those issues and focus instead on your swearing and how you will repent.
Slymepitter: Oh. Fuck this then.
Nugent: Just as I feared. The Slymepitters are incapable of being reasoned with. I have determined change is unable to occur. Please give me an award when I have all my besties over in Ireland. Re: Jim the Pleb Made Me Do It
That's actually what pisses me off the most. Utter incompetence. Although I think it's unrealistic, I can actually understand the theoretical gender feminist stance, that gender traits are entirely social constructs and such can and must be overcome. I don't think that's correct (pregnancy and other physical differences are a real thing, although I don't think they should be prescriptive on our views on an individual), but I don't think that it's entirely wrong either.rocko2466 wrote:Nugent: That's terrible. That you would use that language. Settle down. We should talk about how plainly harmful that language of yours is. Do you know any swear word offends all women, except when we use it? The problem is, that statements like "offends all women", which although this is satire, is a very common idea, is basically utterly failing at gender feminism. It's assigning a gender trait about being offended to all women. It's like Adam Lee's little petition, that ended up being one of the most sexist things I've read in a LONG time, both against men and women.
That's why I disagree with the notion that it's gender feminism we're dealing with here. They're building up the gender-based social constructs as fast as they can.
I actually have friends that are raising a kid from a gender feminist perspective. They're making things as gender neutral as realistically possible. And to be honest, I don't think there's anything wrong with it. But it's a complete 180 from what we're seeing from the bigot brigade.

Re: Jim the Pleb Made Me Do It
Guys, maybe Nugent has a point. There's been way too much lowbrow activity on this forum. We can try to step up our game and discuss more intellectual topics for a change. How about some Classical verse! Nothing too offensive there, right? ... Wait, what was that, Catullus?
Now quote that out of context, fuckersCatullus wrote: -

It's right for the devoted poet

Necessary for his verses to be so.
Verses which then have taste and charm,
If they are delicate and sexy,
And when they can incite an itch,
And I don't mean for boys, but in
Those hairy old men who can't get their dicks up.
You, because you have read of my thousand kisses,

To put it more in Mick’s terms, where are you drawing that line if it isn’t “Someone big is looking†or “That person isn’t a regular
Here is the thing Sally. when you have a standard, and you are not a hypocrite, you apply that standard consistently, and it does not matter if anyone is watching or not.
For example, there was a similar type image posted previous to the current one which apparently has so far apparently escaped attention.
Let me remedy that now:
viewtopic.php?p=61068#p61068
“Fuck it. I’ll risk the banhammer. If young tits are okay so should old ones be. Avert your eyes!â€
Here is just one response. Not mine.
viewtopic.php?p=61078#p61078
“Not enough.
Not witty enough.
Not interesting enough.
Not topical enough.
Not funny enough.
Not satirical enough.â€
I can not be arsed to check further but if you do visit that thread you will in time come across my response, and his if memory serves where he is miffed at my lack of appreciation and calls me a “Grannyâ€.
All in all, this is just one of the issues. Not that “those people†are feminists, but that they fail to apply their standards to themselves. The same standards they insist must apply to others.
If you wish to allow “those people†to set themselves up as your moral arbiters feel free. Just do not expect me to do so.

One possible response is that it isn't actually their business any more than it is ours how PZ moderates his blog.
I'm happy to take a strong stance for free speech here, but there is the risk that a bunch of trolls will come in and fill the place with something gross. That might just be the risk we have to take or the price we have to pay. We won't necessarily become 4chan, but then again we might. We could also go the route of trying to articulate rules or guidelines more explicitly and then try to enforce them. Lots of forums do this, and they don't all become Atheism Plus, though obviously some do. Or we could continue to judge things as they come, as we have been.
If nob was just someone with poor taste, rather than a troll, is there something we could do to prevent such events in the future? If there is something we could do, should we? (Note that in a lot of cases "we" really just means "Lsuoma" unless he decides to delegate)

My tiny little thoughts on Nugent's latest post and its affect on O.Benson: http://beliefblower.com/michael-nugents-backfire
Judging from her tweets, he did not do a good thing. Neither did noblehawk2.

Oolon may be in the clear - but have a granny-porn lover on his doorstep!

Pretty much. He wants to have it both ways, only he's not even as good as oolon at that. At least oolio was smart enough to seize on the TROLOLOLOLOL shit as a reason why he'd post here.Lsuoma wrote:Yeah, the cunt really is a tiny colon clone, isn't he?welch wrote:

you know, if he'd just stuck to his original "not going to engage at the pit" statement, he'd have far fewer problems.

Are people de-cloaking in large numbers here? That at least would be a positive outcome of nuggetgate if nothing else.

I think Svan needs reminding that she's a third rate hack blogger with an audience in the double digits, not Joan d'Arc.

The thing with many SJW' is that they feel so oppressed and belittled by the outer world that for them narcissistic, becomes a radical, revolutionary act on par with the storming of the Bastille.

She seemed depressed the other day and this just seems to have made it worse. It's not much and it may seem hypocritical to some but I donated $10 to her fund. I figure she can go out and get a coffee or two or those cookies she goes on about - whatever brings a small smile, you know?debaser71 wrote:Thanks for pointing that out ReneeHendricks. Yeah, I changed my tone and called this Nuggets guy an asshole at least 3 times since this started. I want him to watch this and then go pass moral judgement on his fat cow of a mother. I don't think Svan actually feels oppressed or belittled by the outside. She always was a narcissistic egomaniac, SJW "activism" just gives her a bit of cover for it.

“I would also note that this bastion of freedom contains very few (if any) examples of similar efforts based on racial hostility. Would the pit be so enthusiastic about someone ripping into a black skeptic using the obvious slurs and old racist descriptions?â€
No. We tend not to do that.
However, seeing as the Slymepit has many members of all different races you could ask them. All you have to do is register and pose your question.
Here, let me help you:
“Which one of you niggers, spics, gooks wops and honkeys get upset about ripping into someone’s race instead of attacking their ideas?â€
You could also ask this while you are at it:
“Do any of you faggots, trannys and dykes feel uncomfortable being around so many breeders?â€
YMMV

Of course, his "argument" could be applied to any larger pet, but none of those are called pit bulls.
Proffe, you are the fucking worst of the whole bunch.
