I still don't get what was the main reason to ban Ecliwood. Sure, she's underaged, and it makes the forum liable to legal actions in case of misteps, but at least she's the one who revealed this information. I think one of the issues that helps fuel the pseudo-science crap, especially in regards to health issues, is that actual scientific reporting and knowledge gets buried in a sea of pop-science journalism, and when the average person sees a TV report or news article with "random person X, PhD" it's easy to be misled. With so much scientific knowledge held behind pricey paywalls and exclusive journals. I think the scientific community has left a door open for parasites with fancy titles and the occasional one-off study to greatly misinform large numbers of people.

I think Lsuoma is doing what is prudent based on the legal advice he has received. Eu makes good points sometimes and I don't mind her style, so if there weren't potential legal or liability issues, then I would vote to let her back in too. But she's young and impulsive, and she joked about doing something that could hurt the forum and Lsuoma. It's possible it might be safe to let her back in, but I'm not going to encourage Lsuoma to take that risk when it's not my neck on the line and I don't understand the situation as well as he does.

I was just trying to relate to my own experiences as a (quite distressed, as per normal) teenager being accepted in a circle of older folks. The initial acceptance was quite a thrill and I would have done a lot to "fit in". Stupid jokes and OTT commentaries were part of the equation. I have been rejected from a few of these groups after some time for being tedious or just plain annoying, and I can totally understand what Eucliwood must be feeling.

I was just giving my opinion. Lsuoma is the utlimate arbitrer here. Anyway, Eucli, if lurking, maybe let it go for now and come back when, at least, your legal age situation doesn't threaten the forum. I'm sure it will be fun then.

I was just trying to relate to my own experiences as a (quite distressed, as per normal) teenager being accepted in a circle of older folks. The initial acceptance was quite a thrill and I would have done a lot to "fit in". Stupid jokes and OTT commentaries were part of the equation. I have been rejected from a few of these groups after some time for being tedious or just plain annoying, and I can totally understand what Eucliwood must be feeling.

I was just giving my opinion. Lsuoma is the utlimate arbitrer here. Anyway, Eucli, if lurking, maybe let it go for now and come back when, at least, your legal age situation doesn't threaten the forum. I'm sure it will be fun then.

I have some sympathy for her too. If she wants to talk about the things we talk about, there are other places talking about those things too. For example the SSJ forum is a young forum, could use more people, and was started by some of those who left or were kicked from A+, and the JREF A+ thread has become something similar to the endless undead threads here. While it can be upsetting to be disallowed in a particular place, we aren't actually "cooler" than any of those other places, so there's no reason not to attempt to connect elsewhere.

I think we did: IIRC she had already made the comment about being underage and there being agents with whom she was in contact, and who might be interested in some folks at the Pit.

I may be wrong, but that's how I remember it.
