Caine just seems like she loves the power she holds in the pharyngula comment threads. Adoring fans, the ability to order Myers around. She's so fast to call out people on their slightest "indiscretions" for the "horde" to pile-on. The dream of every SJW.

Any speculation on why Peezus is in such a good mood?
Re: Bleeding from the Bunghole
Without knowing what he did, we know that there are people on the sex offender list who are guilty of having sex as a teenager with another teenager. I have no idea of how common it is, but I have heard of a few (and knew one). Depending on what he did (I had considered trying to look it up, but decided not to), he may be scum or just a kid who screwed the wrong person's kid (consensual but not to the parent). Either way, it doesn't make her any less fallacious.Kevin Solway wrote:Rebecca Watson writes:

Even if the fellow was once a sex offender, or a murderer, or a bank robber, or whatever, it doesn't mean he can't ever speak the truth.
I can just imagine Dawkins summing up his argument at the next Oxford debate, "I've shown my critic is a sex offender."

These are called 'Romeo and Juliet" sex offenders. Kids having sex, boy gets in trouble. When we lived in Nashville, we had one of those our neighborhood. A 15-year-old boy was fooling around with 16-year-old girl and knocked her up. Daddy went ballistic, he was arrested, admitted it to the cops, and now he's a sex offender. She's not, btw. Because of Patriarchy and shit.SPRINGFIELD, Ill. • Shane Sandborg isn't allowed to go near a school, park or playground. He can't go to many events with his two young sons. His housing and employment have been limited.
Sandborg is on Illinois' Sex Offender Registry. He was placed on the list because eight years ago, when he was 17, he got his 16-year-old girlfriend pregnant. Police found them together during the investigation of an unrelated burglary. She never made an allegation of force. Today he's married to another woman.
And there are plenty of other things (which don't apply to this case) that'll turn you into a sex offender if some stick-in-the-ass makes a big deal out of it: Get drunk and pee in public (me). If you're a child and run outside naked, you're a sex offender (me).
I will say that these are RARE compared to the stuff that's on the sex-offender list and I'd say a good 95% of those on it deserve to be on it. But it does happen. And a quick, but non-in-depth look at the page made me think it was a possible Romeo & Juliet case. Not that St. Becky the Boozehound would have a clue, or care.

24" x 22", Acrylic on canvas
Acquired by Tom Stankowicz from the Children's Hospital Thrift Store
A comment on issues of power as experienced by those who dwell with feline pets. Is the artist consumed with or consumed by his love for this cat? Does he identify with the personality of the startling animal? Does the similarity between these inseparable cohabitants stop short at the nose? Or is he simply trying to observe a tree-lined avenue through a cat's eyes?

Not 10 minutes ago I was just reading on CNN about a 19 year old florida woman who had sexual relations with a 14 year old girl. (I think we talked about it here a bit too). Anyway (and as far as I read on CNN....so it may be 100% bull) the state wants the young woman to accept a deal where she will have a curfew but not spend time in prison, not wear an ankle bracelet, and not be registered as a sex offender. I tried to comment about a "pussy pass" but CNN placed my comment into moderation. Oh well.Badger3k wrote:There was another one I heard about - a girl in Florida (maybe?) was charged with something similar. Looks as if the person in the video lives in a not-very-luxurious trailer, or at least a very small house or apartment. Certainly not as spacious as the rooms typically seen in the backgrounds of various FtB video hangouts or whatever.
After listening to some snippets of Rogi Riverstone's radio interviews on the linked PRX site, I'd say she's got a lot more SJW credibility than any of the pharyngulanhas, including PeeZus himself. She actually talks with people who have disabilities and who care for others with disabilities, and presents their stories. As opposed to just making shit up about them. She may indeed be a complete moon bat, but given a choice between dinner with her or dinner with Caine, I'd choose the one who's not licking the lining of PeeZus' duodenum.

Anyway, Alex Gabriel fits right in. Writes a post on that Cardemon guy (who it seems is the darling of the SJWs) on how we need to get people to stop asking for coffee when they mean sex, or something like it. I think his mom told him he was funny or something. Yawn.
I also saw the Stefunny article on the Beast "interview". I read it and thought it a parody as well. But she is so confident she even added an update. Of course, this is the one who got their own hosting service wrong, so take that for what you will. Considering that Shermer hasn't directly said anything about PZ's allegations, probably on the advice of a lawyer, does she (or anyone else) think he would give an interview on it? Seriously?
I just did a google search on "sheerer" "beast" and "interview" and saw the storify that elevatorgate did. I saw Renee saying these were an email exchange. So far, the only source we have is the beast, and I think the bias is a bit noticeable, so I'm still skeptical that it was even an email exchange - I'd hate to think Shermer was that stupid, but I could be wrong. Anyone have anything on this? Any twitter followers of Shermer know if he has seen this or responded? I can't believe the usual suspects didn't send it to him to gloat, although they may have all blocked him with the Block Bot, so who knows.
Re: Bleeding from the Bunghole
Yeah, if you assault people at a hundred conferences, if would be hard to narrow it down... but I love how they ignore the simple fact that, if you go to hundreds of them and never assault anyone, it would be impossible to narrow it down. Of course, if he expressed knowledge of which one, you know they'd be all "We never said which one, but he knows, that's proof!"

That's his prerogative of course - since the law is sometimes wrong. However, in this case, I think the law is right.
If Myers retracted his web page at this stage it would be like admitting that he's a dunce, and it wouldn't stop proceedings against him, so I don't think that's likely.

OK. The place I'd like to start is with three very basic things. These are general to science, and my point is really just that they apply here.Cold wrote:The latter, obviously.VAXherd wrote: Very good. The next thing is: Are you more interested in talking about the SJW carryings on, or in how social scientists actually handle the concept of privilege?
First, any particular study will need to be focused. However broad the theoretical implications may be, you'll need to pick something specific to measure and run statistics on.
Second, you need to be careful with terms. "Privilege" per se just means advantage over others. If your interest is with advantage due to characteristics that can be neither chosen nor changed, then you have to check which studies fit.
Third, if the construct you're after is complex or multidimensional, as you multiply through the component distributions you are also multiplying their uncertainties. In the real world, you can easily run out of statistical significance before you get your result.
How are we so far? All good?

Thank you, Tribble!Tribble wrote:I know that answer! They frequently make things up or design really bad survey's to get confirm their conclusions.VAXherd wrote:Let's start with the easiest thing: You do know that what the SJWs are spouting is not what real Social Scientists do. Right?
OTOH, I've known a couple of sociologists. Real ones. People who do it with math. Who spend a shit-ton of time trying to make sure they get it right. Because they're interested in the real problems so real solutions can be crafted.
Thank you, nippletwister!nippletwister wrote:To explain my own ignorance a bit, when I dumped on sociology earlier, I am a layman, and talking only about broad theories written for more or less layman consumption. I have yet to read one that didn't seem to be more of a belief system than any kind of testable theory that might be applicable to real life. I am obviously more familiar with works that are much more personal and political rather than research-based. "Social criticism" is more what I should have been crapping on. Stuff that tries to explain too much with too little.
Apologies to those who have studied more than myself.

Wedding stuff. Dresses, gloves, tux rentals... I mean, I assume that, but I probably shouldn't be so sure. Anything I think I read on it may be a hallucination.Sulman wrote:There's obviously some back story I'm missing. What...what was that website for?

I hate to criticize Richard Feynman, but that was "I don't understand it, therefore it's wrong."debaser71 wrote:Richard Feynman on social science.
He tried working outside his field on a few occasions and didn't do very well. Looks like he should have learned more from that than he did.

The reason he's in such a good mood is because there are three spires coming out of that globe.

A new post by her moves on from calling DJ Grothe a nazi...
Now he's a slaveowner!
(.....blather...snip....) The kind of sex where a dudebro plies a woman with alcohol until she becomes too out of it to consider whether or not she wants to have sex with him and just has it – that kind of sex there would be less of. (...snip...)
And women are literally children, tentatively sipping their first taste of illicit wine at the grown-up's (men's) party, and getting into all sorts of inevitable rape-based scrapes. I blame the irresponsible adults for not watching them more closely.

Our podcasts are pretty much like that. I've tried to make a habit of having the occasional short interview with Atheists from less fortunate parts of the world. Like the United States and Western Australia.zenbabe wrote:Clownshoe that was hilarious :Dclownshoe wrote:Our new Full Frontal Zealotry podcast episode is up.
My co-host is a moderate in "The Shit". and not a member of The Slymepit (though he does lurk occasionally to see what I'm going on about). At about 34 minutes or so I make a barely veiled reference to current goings-on, and he erupts for ages about the last two years of bullshit. The frustration is palpable, and just when he thinks he can stop ranting, I meanly mention something else that pulls him back onto the rage train.

I loved all the talk that lead up to the rant, which you prolonged, by Shane ("You said you divorced yourself from skepticism now GO AWAY! Fuck off!" "I want to think about something ELSE!"). The parts at the beginning when (was it Shane again?) lost his mind laughing about the vet who performed chiropractic care on horses, was just.. I mean who doesn't laugh to hear someone crack up that hard, and with good reason!. And the parts about the Vatican with the two breasts and countless penises  And on and on.
Super fun. Are all your shows like that?
I guess I'll check the archives.
Anyway. Thanks, cheers :)
Tomorrow night we have teed up a recording with Rock2466. That should be fun.
I'd have him on as a regular, but the two hour time difference is a killer :D
Re: Bleeding from the Bunghole
Saw a thread on After the Bar Closes (hints and allegations). Mostly two people going back and forth. I made a contribution, but it's not much. I did try to put in Maryam Namazie's "report it" post. When I tried to find it, I got a 404 error. I still can get to other poster's blogs, but hers is down. I find that...interesting. I even went to "up or down" and it says it wasn't just me. I wonder if there is a reason for this?
