What bothers me, though, is that they specfically approached HER to write an article about sexism in games without evidently knowing anything about games. (Or giving her the benefit of the doubt, at least knew nothing about the games she chose to feature in her hit-piece.) Rhianna Pratchett's frustration is well deserved, in my opinion, because it was an atrociously misinformed article - filled with several buzzwords and (radical) feminist claptrap.

Also, apparently the girl who wrote the piece of shit is making a game with someone called Beth Maher who made this game. A game based on an artist called Kreayshawn where the objective of the game is to ... er... get to the other side, and the enemies of the game seem to be women with bikinis and a handbag. The attack is, I'm not sure what, but I think it's supposed to be pure noise. If you must know, yes, I did play it (it's short, it only took 4 weeks to create according to Ms. Maher) and to be brutally honest? It's shit. The music is repetetive (the same six notes over and over again), the level design is unoriginal and unsurprisingly a pair of pink glasses was added to the protagonist (even though she doesn't have any in the video) - possibly to cater to some hipster ideal (hers, most likely).

At least I have a face and a pseudonymous name to put to the culprit. Pixiemania. I'll remember that.

By the way, am I only one who thinks it's funny that the first person to give praise to Pixiemania for her (imo) severe fuckup is someone called Maddy *Myers*? (Any relation?)
That game.. pretty bad. All I noticed was that the character's lil pink weapon thing had a swastika (or I guess according to wiki a sauwastika) in the center and I'm too drunk and tired to research why that was chosen. :shifty:

It's a fine idea.

Unfortunately, in the "Clownfall" storyline General Carrier has decamped to Argentina and Weidling (who was, indeed a General of Artillery) has already made an appearance. He's the General who sends Korporal Thibeault to tell the Peezus Youth gun crew to stop shelling Herr Myers' hentai porn.
Weidling has a much bigger role in the final scene (and appears in the closing credits that follow) but since that whole video is contingent on the resolution of the Shermer lawsuit, it may not see the light of day for years.

Meanwhile, I am editing to the work of a crack team of investigative reporters in order to break a massive story to the world (or at least the several dozen people who care about this nonsense): the first on-camera interview with the man claiming to be "Elevator Guy".

Why be Victim less when you can be Victim plus?

Victims plus we know what you did several summers ago and have our suspicions about who you did it to.
Victims plus we have unfalsifiable doctrines.
Victims plus we have a personal relationship with Peezus.
Victims plus we fight, well, anyone who isn't us basically.
Victims plus we abandoned critical thinking and skepticism a long time ago, because patriarchy/misogyny/rape culture
Victims plus we know everything is a feminist issue, even the speed of light.
Victims plus we know how to rewrite the past, the present, and we are currently writing the future.
Victims plus we love air miles.
Victims plus we make our own jewelry.

If you are not with us your are a douche nozzle.

YMMV

When asked how he could do this, Feminist Schwyzer said, "It was easy, Feminism taught me men think of women as toilets"
You know what. Perhaps I have been viewing feminism all wrong all along.

Sit back. Convince a bunch of co-eds that men (myself included) are piggish, thuggish sexual animals who just can't help themselves and are just barely aware enough to try and stop our own behavior. Get paid $90k. Plus writting fees & speaking fees. Bang the shit out of them and cheat on my wife, and lie to everyone, just because I am a man and I can't help myself. The key here is to lower their expectations all the way to the sub-basement and then move in for the kill because, since they are women, they know oh-so-much better than us animistic men. Wait... the baboons are calling Dick Carrier, the Intelectual Artillery of Athism Plus, "rape apologist"?

Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Is it Christmas already? I bet the tour de force this time will be awesome!
Not a single comment from the baboons, not sure what to read into that, if anything.
What's a little confusing to me is whether Carrier is arguing about what is considered first degree or second degree rape. As Justicar explained here:

second degree rape is already considered a strict liability offense, so all Carrier's talk of Men rea would be irrelevant. It would not matter what your intent was; if you raped, you raped, as in statutory rape. At the same time, one feminist agenda is to make first degree rape also a strict liability crime, presumably predicated on the whim of the victim.

My favorite bits from Dick Handbag's "I Am Not a Crook" post:
It’s strange to see even atheists convert hyperbole into fact in the span of just hours or days. That’s supposed to be what religious people do.
It's strange to see a cat torture a small animal.
It should not have to be said that the mere feeling that something has happened does not mean it has happened. If I feel that you have murdered someone, that does not in itself mean that you have murdered someone. And this would be an issue in jury instructions when evaluating a claim of implied threat in a rape case: it does have to be objectively reasonable for the victim to feel threatened for consent to have been negated and rape to have occurred. ...

... Even then the total circumstances have to be such that any reasonable person in those same circumstances would have believed their life was in danger and the threat otherwise inescapable (without fear of harm). The same standard holds for a state of implied threat–not just in rape cases, but in all cases of coercion of whatever kind. And it should be obvious why this must be the case.

For example, if all I do is write an article about how cute kittens are, and you come to “feel” I have thereby planned to murder you unless you buy a kitten, I have not committed the crime of threatening you, and you cannot claim coercion in a court of law. Thus your subjective feelings do not make a crime. Those feelings have to be objectively defensible–by a reasonable person standard in a court of law–and surely any reasonable system of moral judgment must adopt the same principle.
LMAO - obviously Richie has been asleep in class for the last few years. This is social justice, Dick -- you've got a choice here -- float, and you're most definitely a rape-apologizing witch. Sink, and you'll be dead, but at least you'll be out of your misery. Aren't kittens cute?

Gefan,

It sounds like one and the same. My knowledge of the history of the general theory is not deep enough to state that Jaynes is the original source of the concept, but it appears that he was the first to incorporate the idea into a broader, integrated and very controversial theory. I've read his book three times and am still getting my head around some of it, but the opening chapters will knock you right off your feet. The schizophrenia aspect comes up later as a framework to support Jaynes' idea of the condition being a remnant of the former pre-conscious mentality that lies at the heart of his theory. Truly fascinating stuff and a unique work in the field of psychology. The theory had a few ardent followers, but mostly languished as most practitioners in the field just could not accept the basic premise. Even more interesting is that recent research tends to support the basic aspects of Jaynes' core theory. He may well have been decades ahead of his time with this idea.

I was able to locate an original edition of the book and it occupies a treasured place in my library. The book is still in print and two follow ups were published by the Julian Jayne's Society. I have both, read the first and just received the second, but have not read it yet.

I am more than pleased that you found the reference of interest. I am deeply fascinated by the subject. If Jayne's is correct, he has described a very fundamental aspect of what defines us as sentient beings, along with many of the inherent issues and limitations of the resulting mind space that exists within us. Do let me know if you follow up on this and read the sources.

Anyone with 15-minutes of fame, (thus becoming 'notable') can have a Wikipedia page. It may not last (see below) but it just takes someone to write it. And then you're open to all sorts of abuse that you can't get rid of as long as it's sourced. Just ask Tiger Woods or any other person who has gone through a bit of public embarrassment. :)

Its hilarious, though entirely unsurprising, to see this happening to both Silverman AND Carrier (the self described 'intellectual artillery' of A+). They deserve absolutely no sympathy for aligning themselves with these fanatic ideologues.

These SJW types must really have no idea what the real world is actually like outside of their tiny self-contained internet bubbles. When you actually go out into the real world and have face to face, human interactions with other primates you will almost never encounter a homogeneous set of opinions on every silly issue, as the SJWs would like.

Anyway, just stopping in with a brief comment. I still regularly lurk here as it is a pretty great source of entertainment.

Been there, done that. The drug dealers I could handle. They didn't want to piss people off enough to where calling the cops became worth the risk, so while they weren't GREAT neighbors, they were by and large polite. And did a good job of keeping the conflicts reasonably away from home. (Not perfect, there were some nights that made for great "in the dark window watching".)

But the dumb motherfuckers like you describe, those were the worst. I was working nights, and so when the 9am Lynrd Skynrd hour came on and I'm like "dude, seriously, just turn it down so shit isn't falling off the walls", because I have a really high tolerance for noise when I sleep, I'd get the "FUCK YOU, I CAN DO WHAT I WANT" or "I gotta JAM man" or the other stuff. They were the ones who got all threatening. Or would try to start shit.

THOSE fuckers, I called the cops on. Not the coke dealers. The stupid fuckwits who wouldn't let me sleep.

yes, I realize how fucked up that sounds, but my sleep is more important than someone else's coke habit.

There is a super wide chasm between you and kids who are bullied for no good reason.

Hugo Schwyzer

what makes a bully is the emotion they feel when they type hateful words. Anger is anger is anger is anger.

Angry Black Women
And anger isn't valid? *BZZT!* Wrong. Bullies don't always act out of anger. No matter how angry, it's still not bullying

Hugo Schwyzer
they also act out of fear and hate, true. So anger fear and hate are all defining emotions of the bully.

Angry Black Women
So you were angry and fearful and hateful of these women you bullied. Why?

Hugo Schwyzer
I was angry and unkind to BFP and BA and Ecydsis and a few others. I never hated them, I just wanted them to stop attacking

Angry Black Women
Oh so you've always been a victim, then? I see. HEY EVERYONE, HUGO'S BEEN A VICTIM SINCE WAY BACK

Angry Black Women
To stop them "attacking" you (i.e. pointing out truths abt u that were valid & correct by your own admission) u attacked them

Angry Black Women
but somehow all these folks angry about that are the bullies.

Angry Black Women
Look, son. The bottom line is this: You're not being bullied, you're facing the consequences of your actions.

Angry Black Women
You were a horrible example of humanity for YEARS. You victimized people by the dozens. You don't get to play victim now.

Angry Black Women
Whatever ppl have to say to/about you is based on what you DID, not what you are, not prejudice, not bigotry, not ignorance

That is why none of this is you being bullied.

Of course she is. When your talent and inherent sex-appeal is limited, you've to ramp-up interest in some other way. It's the smart thing to do and I think she should do it until she flames out her audience because she's not going to make money trying to compete head-to-head with actual, currently-active talented singers like Adele or Pink on vocal talent.

I mean, come on:

I still get shivers when I hear her sing. Her voice is amazing.

As for Hanna Montana, er Miley Cyrus... I hated her on the stupid Hanna Montana show and I'm not impressed with her 'to date' adult career though Wrecking Ball was at least decently autotuned. Maybe she matures and becomes a good vocalist to go with her carefully crafted, manipulative 'sex appeal' career. Maybe not. I really don't care.

In fact, she's got to compete with the 'sex-appeal, auto-tune' crowd. So many of the current generation of pop stars are so dependent on autotune that it's pointless to worry about whether an artist is actually talented or not. They autotune the studio product, the audotune the concert product, they autotune the live events.

Though sometimes they fail:

But, hey, nice rack Katy!

Anyway, Miley is doing the smart thing. She's competing in the market in the only thing she really has to sell -- sex.

Well, the drug dealers need to be fine, or else they could attract attention. At least, that's what I would do, if I was a drug dealer: be a model neighbor, nobody sees me, nobody hears from me, etc. The last thing you want to do is someone calling the cops because you're too noisy and then they bust your business because of that.

A drunk wife-beater, on other hand, knows that his punchbag will grant him immunity, because he "loves" her, and she "can't just leave him!", so he does whatever he wants. Until drug dealers move in to the next house, and then they become annoyed that police is always being called to the neighborhood because Mr. Smacks-A-Lot is beating on Ms. Punchbag again, and make him have an accident or two.

Okay, my story (true story) is what feminists should be focusing on, and not imaginary rape.

This is why I fucking hate most SJW feminists, because where are they when this shit happens?:

I was in administrative medicine for many years and then I took a few years off to raise my kids. I decided not to go back into that field because I wanted something less stressful. One of my friends told me about this super secret members only club that she worked at and said she could get me in there. It's difficult to get in because it's a pretty sweet job. Bartending and serving local celebrities in a private supper club. Tips from people wiping their butts with 20s. So, I interviewed for the job and got it and really enjoy it, however, I only work two nights a week, so I wanted to supplement it.

I then applied at, and got a job at an upscale breakfast/lunch place where I was told I would be in training for 3 - 6 months, hostessing, expediting, doing barista duties and then I would be promoted to a server. I like the hours, which mirror my kids hours away from home (while they're at school), and the servers make really good money (like $300 a shift), so I decided to try it.

So, on my first day, the bat shit crazy Greek owner came in and yelled at the female GM, who apparently has battered female employee syndrome or something because she never stands up to him, but is a tyrant to the rest of the employees because she's the designated messenger. So the crazy Greek owner tells her (the GM) that everyone looks tired and sloppy and he's furious about it. Afraid for her job, she just puts her head down and nods and then proceeds to go up to me and bunch of people and tell us we have to look "sharper". Now, I think I pretty good. I don't wear a lot of makeup, but I do wear some. I opt for the natural look, but I was dressed elegantly and had mascara and eyeliner on and did my eyebrows.

So, I asked the female GM if the bat shit crazy owner said anything about me and she said, "Yes."

Apparently, I need to wear more makeup. He requires all of "his girls" to wear eye shadow and foundation. (I'm not making this up!)

And then she pointed to one of the servers, who has a 1950s bouffant hairdo, wears either bright blue eye shadow or black eye shadow and bright pink lipstick with lipgloss and she says, "There. The owner wants you all to try to emulate her."

!!!!!

Okay, I'll admit, this woman looks good for her age, she's 56, and she's apparently a famous body builder, but she also looks like a drag queen. Don't get me wrong, she's very pretty, but IMO, she looks really trashy over over-done. Because she is very pretty, I think she'd SO MUCH better w/o all the whorish makeup.

Come to find out, even the restaurant's female bussers wear false eyelashes and foundation, because the owner demands it. All the women there wear really bad foundation, probably because they buy the cheap drugstore stuff because they wouldn't wear it otherwise. I hate foundation personally. I have good skin and I don't want to paint a punch of fleshy colored paint on my skin.

Now, nobody told me about this when I was hired. I wore the same makeup as I did in the interview.

I couldn't even believe it was legal, so I Googled it and much to my dismay and shock, I find that it is perfectly legal in the U.S..

Now, this is discrimination IMO. They hired me with the makeup I wear everyday. The SJW are so busy focusing on shit that doesn't affect ordinary, everyday women that they miss the things they should be fighting for. That's why I hate them. They're fucking useless. Clueless and useless, which is a really bad combination.

And so is the U.S. Supreme Court in this instance.

I just cannot believe it's legal. I'm offended, astonished and appalled.

Not in this instance. Requiring women to wear makeup is one thing. Requiring them to look like a Drag Queen is another. And women should be allowed to go makeupless if they want.

This is clearly a legitimate feminist issue IMO. Not the bullshit the SJW feminists are focusing on. These kind of requirements is where they should put their energy, but they would rather focus on perceived rape intentions of individual men of which there is no evidence of intended rape.

Priorities.

I sincerely think that some people are pushing society in the wrong way, puting too much weight on acessory things just for looks even when that's not cost efficient.

Example: pressing clothes. I mean, why? You expend a lot of water and soap to clean your clothes, but that's something you must do for your health. Pressing the clothes, however, is just a cosmetic bullshit requirement that costs a lot in electricity bills and time. Besides, your clothes will adjust to your body during the day; pressing them is wasteful and pointless.

Another thing: wearing a suit on summer. Who the fuck had this stupid idea? The temperature is 40ºC outside but jackasses insist that everybody needs to look "nice and professional" (i.e. "like a robot drone wearing a stupid strangling device"). The result? Air conditioning running at full power in the lowest temperature possible, boht in offices and cars, wasting more resources on bullshit. The Chilean government had a neat idea last summer: they allowed their workers to dress up in casual summer clothing (t-shirts and shorts) to save up in air conditioning. That's something in the right direction.

It's all such bullshit, but society will ahev to collapse first before those old cranks change their minds over such minute things.

I agree with this very much. Our society tends to be so exceedingly wasteful and self absorbed it makes me wonder just how long civilization can last without suffering irreversible damage from the effects of climate change and overpopulation. All the minute things really do add up - they also want to power the AC in the cars and the offices with dirty tar-sands and imported oil from the middle east, devastating the ecosystem in the process and leaving death and destruction in its wake. We are a dumb, short-sighted primate species and it clearly shows.

Don't talk about overpopulation and pollution. It makes you a 'racist'. Yes, really:P

Well, my post at Carrier's blog no longer shows as "in moderation" so I guess that particular brave social justice warrior, Mr. Intellectual Artillery of FfTB himself, continues to show his true FfTB colours. Colours.

Carrier, fuck you and your Titanic sized ego into the ground, hmm? OK? OK.

haha, well its clear from my last post where I will fall in that debate - and what I think of diversionary tactics of slandering your opponents instead of actually addressing their arguments (I post on the slymepit, right? Isn't this supposed to be where we don't stoop to that kind of FTB-level stupidity?)

I guess some people suffer from acute tunnel-vision. This is actually increasing in a lot of media right now, as the next looming UN climate science report will problably tell us with even more urgency that our current course is unsustainable, therefore we have people telling us that everything will be alright because "there really is no such thing as a human carrying capacity". Really!

Yes, if you read the thread I linked to, this very article was used as 'proof' that we 'racists' are 'in the wrong'. :)

My comment, a pithy quote from the Simpsons still shows in moderation.

Are you this pleasant in person, too? No wonder your hosts keep kicking you back out onto the street.

Hugo converted? Oy.

And his conversion is not seen as part of his manic behavior?
And his conversion is not seen as yet another attempt on his part to evade personal responsibility?

Double Oy.

His new found Judaism will not keep Hugo to either a moral or ethical path.

I vote for neither Dems nor Gops.

FTR, this Dem administration has trampled nearly every civil liberty in our Constitution, including due process and the writ of Habeas Corpus. obama's drone strikes, which have killed 6x the civilians that Bush did, are a violation of the Hague & Geneva conventions. Just last week, my senator, Diane Feinstein, (D) CA, declared free speech a "privilege, not a right." This despite free speech being enshrined in The Bill of Rights.

Peezus' and similar proglodytes' hatred of the GOP is mirrored by their cultish defense of swami/obama & blindness to the many sins of the Church of Democrats.

A few things the Republicans have been good at.
1. Constituent service, be it an expedited passport, or bringing home more pork from the budget to their own backyard.
2. Identifying niche needs & desires and catering to them. Like hunting, owning guns & shooting them? Republicans are pretty much the only game in town. Hate abortion? Same thing. There are probably several other areas, but those are two big ones that I can think of.
3. They organize well on the national level. They look at the national playing field and pour money into campaigns they can win and make a difference.
4. They have been excellent in whipping their base into an emotional frenzy over key issues. Democrats are doing a better job of that now too... and thus the decline of US politics... nothing of any substance gets hashed out.
5. Republicans USED to have a reputation for being fiscally conservative. (However anyone with a shred of observational skills recognizes that is no longer the case.)
6. They have been playing up the religious card.

Personally I think they are turning off more & more of the independent voters. But the elections will tell.

Here I am, I couldn't be more sympathetic to the cause of Fathers, equal custody, and custody support, and yet, once more when reading AVFM, I find myself weeping for the tortured English language.

Won't someone think of the metaphors?

Pressing the clothes, however, is just a cosmetic bullshit requirement that costs a lot in electricity bills and time. Besides, your clothes will adjust to your body during the day; pressing them is wasteful and pointless.

Why worry? Spence read an article about the potential for nano-clothes irons.

It all comes down to a few issues as to why the US system is fucking terrible currently.

1) we let politicians draw the districts they represent.
2) We still use FPTP as a voting system, which kills any chance any other party can rise up.
3) Money in politics.

It all leads to a system, where 80% of reps have a bigger threat coming from their own party. On the republican side this means (as the current opposition party) if you dare to vote with the dems to get things done, next election we'll send someone who won't!!

@deLurch, How many decades are you going back for Republicans to be "fiscally conservative" and that meaning something other than "defund shit I don't like"?
