We may differ by as much as 2 or 3 years as to where the line should be drawn, but there does need to be a line.

It's fairly simple. At that age, AndrewV69's son is legally an adult. AdrewV69 has no more legal rights & responsibilities in regards to rearing his son. AndrewV69's son could easily tell AndrewV69 to just fuck right off and there is nothing legally AndrewV69 could do about it, beyond cutting off support & contact.

Ultimately AdrewV69 would just have to accept it. That is what I did when my sister got caught up in a relationship like that with a wider age gap. And while in many respects her partner was good for her, it led to a bit of a failure to launch scenario. By being taken care of, she never quite developed the life skills to take care of herself. Now that the relationship has ended, she has a hell of a lot of catch up to do. She is fully educated with an advanced degree, but is still debating what to do with her life & isn't sure she wants to pursue a career in the education she has. What she needs to do now is recognize that she needs to earn money to pay for her food & a roof over her head & save for retirement. I get the feeling that Clarence was trying to have a dispassionate philosophical discussion about the morality of this issue, a la Peter Singer. There is nothing wrong with this in principle. But to be dispassionate, one can't have (or have the perception of) a vested interest in the outcome.

Otoyomegatari has some really, really nice art, the amount of attention spent on tiny details in clothing, interiors, etc is very impressing (example), and it really fits the story and helps it feel authentic. Same thing with YKK, the story is so slowpaced, almost poetic, and the style it's drawn in complements this very well. Both are very different kind of stories than the fighting action stuff that is Berserk, Gunnm, etc, so probably not everyone's cup of tea.

If well-drawn action/fighting stuff is what you want, Blade of the Immortal and Vagabond might be worth checking out. Neither really have a superb story, but they are decent enough, and the art is great. Vinland Saga has worse art, but makes up for it with a (IMO) better story. Tenjho Tenge also have some really nice art, but the lacking story and the excessive nudity and sex (guy who made it used to draw porn mangas, and it shows) makes it hard to recommend to anyone.

The art aspect of manga is one of the main things that draw me to the medium, and it's the main reason why I prefer it over anime (which seldom even try to preserve the unique styles of the artists). Neither really have a superb story, but they are decent enough, and the art is great. Vinland Saga has worse art, but makes up for it with a (IMO) better story. Tenjho Tenge also have some really nice art, but the lacking story and the excessive nudity and sex (guy who made it used to draw porn mangas, and it shows) makes it hard to recommend to anyone.

I've read both of those. Blade of the Immortal has good art (really loved the full-page spreads), but I stopped following the story after tiring of how long it was getting. I still think the first ten volumes are among the best manga ever produced by anyone. No doubt SJWs would wring their hands about all the graphic depictions of rape. I didn't care for Vagabond at all. I think the story is shit. Haven't read Vinland Saga, but now you've peaked my interest... Oh wait, yeah, I remember seeing ads for that. Looks cool.

Ah My Goddess is a little light and fluffy for my tastes, but if anyone here is into light romantic comedies and motorcycle racing, I definitely recommend the manga.

Shit man, I've read... Damn, so many manga. The library carried a ton of the things, and for health reasons, I spent a lot of my teen years housebound. Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku and Claymore are pretty cool too. Shame Urusei Yatsura only had the first ten volumes or so translated. I have some old fan-translated scans I printed, and the site has since gone under due to DMCA. Sooo, I'm sitting on probably some of the only english-translated copies of certain Urusei Yatsura stories. :snooty:
