Oktoberfest is great. The Stuttgart one is very similar and also great.
I looked it up and their's is in Spring. I'm talking about next week.
The Canstatter Volksfest is not in Spring. It is from 25 Sep to 11 Oct.

The Oktoberfest will finish this weekend.

Though her arguments seem to be firm and round sound, they will need much more hands on examination and much more delving into before I find them believably convincing.

That is, if her arguments are real, then they are spectacular.

Went to Ocktoberfest in Munich a few years ago, loved it, although he prepared to burn through some money coz it's bloomin' expensive.

Yes, it was the point. We wanted to try recording some chorals in a natural setting. Aside from having to wait for the occasional plane to fly away, the result is surprisingly good. Plus no neighbors to bother.

BTW, this mountain top is really in the middle of nowhere. We used a generator set about 50 meters away and shielded it with sound panels to kill off its noise. Worked great.

Obviously, he was using hyperbole and not calling for what can be paraphrased by the "fuck him into the ground" remark. It recall a lot of people in acurately paraphrasing critics of Islam saying that they would like to see Islam eliminated as those critics calling for genocide. I would like to see an exact quote and possibly some context before I would believe she actually said that.
If she did say that, that was a stupid thing, but it would be less than surprising if she was just inaccurately quoted.

I think they should just be fired.(No not burnt at the stake! :burn: )
To be fair to PZ, he was only going to fuck Gelato Guy TO the ground - not INTO it. That fucker's such a lazy do-nothing, he can't do anything right, not even by giving his victim a decent burial.

Only if you want to play on the CTE (i.e., beta testers) servers. The regular, vanilla, game is still fucked up - the last time I played I still saw the same problems it's had since release - horrible lag compensation, one shot kills around )through) corners, walls, etc. The premium probably has the map packs, but I'm not sure anyone really plays on those anymore. Most of the you tubers who still play BF4 do so on PC and in the CTE servers. I tried to find servers playing any of the newer maps on console and found squat. PC might be different, and maybe they actually fixed things they said they were going to fix months and months ago, but given their track record of promising much and not delivering, I doubt it. EA used to have a "free play" for a week or so - if they still do, try that before you spend money. With the release of BO3, Halo 5, and others within 3-6 months, you might be better off waiting, or going with battlefield 3 or bad company 2 (lots on those from what I hear). Disclaimer, I gave up on all FPS games for months after continually trying BF4. The game sucked that much. I have no trust or confidence in DICE to be able to produce a working game. So take my advice for whatever you want.

Off Topic.

A good friend of mine that was with us in the mountains this week-end took the opportunity to come out as a born-again christian. That made for some interesting discussions.

He was proud to state that he got baptized two weeks ago. When asked by whom, he said by a "disciple", which among other things makes me a bit worried he's fallen into some kind of sect/cult (I mean, more sect/cult than mainstream religion in general). The only argument that seemed to make him think for a bit, and that I hope makes him think a lot longer, is when I pointed out that according to his doctrine Willdric, myself, and all the other people he knows and cares about who don't believe in his bullshit are going to end up burning in hell forever, and is he fine with that? He couldn't answer and even looked embarrassed, so I don't know whether that's a good sign or a bad one.

Anyway, we'll keep an eye out for him, just in case he was sucked into something shitty. Only positive thing (for now) is that he hasn't tried to proselytize yet and has talked about his new-found faith as a personal choice not to be imposed on others.

Late to the party, but that statement from PeeZus doesn't even make sense. Medical students don't go through "neurosurgery training programs" at any US medical school AFAIK. There are neurosurgery electives in the fourth year that some medical students might take, but they wouldn't involve animal surgery taught by an undergraduate like PeeZus. A handful of medical students might be involved in neurosurgery-related research using animals, but that doesn't constitute a "neurosurgery training program." Neurosurgery isn't a core clinical clerkship in the third year - surgery is, but students aren't going to be trained in surgical techniques by an undergraduate. PeeZus' statement is, as usual, likely to be a complete fabrication, in response to being challenged on his bullshit. He needs to be challenged again, and asked which neurosurgical techniques he was training medical students to do, and in what context.

I like how she claims that a key reason for her shooting videos "back to back" is that setting up the camera and mic takes "a lot of time" where her last two videos were clearly shot using an iPad, if the camera wobble and the light bloom (which she complained about in her last video) are anything to go by.

Apparently I was wrong. She shot it on her phone because it just ran out of space. Also, I'd probably worry more about getting any used snotrags out of shot before I worried about fluff in my hair or wearing the same shirt from video to video.

Apparently one of her subscribers asked if that was her favorite shirt, or whether she was recording the videos back to back, so it sounds like at least one person might be getting an inkling that a minimal amount of thought and effort are being put into these.

It's quite funny watching Becky rail against YouTube videos featuring people with perfect makeup who have devoted fans unwilling to see any shortcomings. She's toying with the idea of doing her own satire on them although she seems uncertain of whether she will enact the labor (probably not).

It's not like her own unique approach to video blogging isn't wide open to counter-mocking. This is like the guy with a comb-over making fun of someone wearing a wig.

Wow. Watson really has a full on hate for Glenn. Ripping on her boobs, intelligence, stupid "youtubby" stuff, compares Glenn to Peter Popoff, and how Watson can't convince people that Glenn isn't worth people's time. Watson is the last person to be popping off on someone else's intelligence. Glass house babe. Glass house.

Protip to Watson: Wearing glasses does not automatically make you intelligent.

Yep. I think plagarism is an odd word for political propaganda/evangelism videos. In a 'get the message out' campaign, they're allies signal-boosting each other; against a shared opponent. I don't like political hacks with astroturf grassroots messages/ who disguise mass indoctrination as one person's genuine, individual opinion... so fuck 'em both. BUT...

If repeating "talking points" is plagarism now, FEMINISTS ARE IN BIG TROUBLE. No more cookie-cutter bumper-sticker slogans about the wage gap. Check Your Privilege™. Feminism Is The Radical Notion®.

What about Anita Sarkeesian's schtick-- 'popularizing' previous feminist theories, by parroting them. Plagiarism!
This.

Really worth a read:

1 in 4 Women: How the Latest Sexual Assault Statistics Were Turned into Click Bait by the 'New York Times'
by: Brian D. Earp
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/brian-ear ... a&ir=Media

Surprised it was published on HuffPo but I guess the chance at taking a (deserved) swipe at the New York Times was too good to pass.

From the article:
Now, much more could be said about caveats, but using just the information we have so far, we can see that a more accurate headline would look something like this:

Approximately 1 in 4 of 19% of a Non-Representative Sample of Women Who Responded to a Non-Representative Survey of 27 Colleges (Out of Roughly 5,000) Reported Experiencing Sexual Assault, Where "Sexual Assault" is Taken to Mean Anything from Being on the Receiving End of an Unsolicited Kiss to Forcible Penetration at Gunpoint, Regardless of the Particular Context

Obviously, that's too long to be practical - so let's see if we can think of something shorter:

Latest Campus Sexual Assault Survey Paints Complicated Picture: Report Stresses Methodological Limitations

That's about right in terms of accuracy ... but it wouldn't sell very many papers.
From the article:
Even more to the point, there is a risk that "overselling" these kinds of findings will actually backfire in the long run, casting a shadow of cynicism over the efforts of those who are struggling--against not inconsiderable odds--to establish a culture (but hopefully not a bureaucracy!) of affirmative consent on college campuses.

The last thing our society needs is one more excuse to take rape statistics lightly.
From the article:
The goal, in other words, should be to massively reduce the incidence of sexual harm--not only on college campuses, but everywhere. But in order to do this, we need to be serious about how we estimate the prevalence of assault, frank about the limitations of what we know and don't know, thoughtful about how we define our terms (including the range of behaviors we feel comfortable collapsing under one label), and painstakingly careful about how we communicate our findings to the public.
I have to wonder how many SJWs think it's good to oversell the stats so that we can achieve a better society. Like, lying for Jesus, or perhaps more accurately, misleading for Jesus.

So since Watson was taking pot shots at someone's else's appearance and presentation on youtube, let's just take a look at this random sampling of screenshots of youtube videos presented by youtube (but I assume she or her boyfriend selected the screenshots that would best represent the video).

https://veuwer.com/i/37bh.jpg

Mildly constipated. Constantly confused and unsure of the world around her (cables, camera). I would say that she is a poster child for menopause if she wasn't too young for that. But it is OK, she threw on some glasses & a bunch of books behind her (short thin books) to make her look more intelligent.

I think Peez' jab at surgeons applies to himself -- in college he was good at memorizing things. Beyond that, he's pretty much an easily-confused, illogical, shit-for-brains.
Peez is really just spoiling for a fight with anyone anymore. Never met a med student who impressed him? Even if it's true, he needed to say it?

http://imgur.com/4YDmEgF.png

Of course, everyone who sees that is thinking, "Then why the fuck are you so impressed with Rebecca Watson?"

I'm not as bright as Peez, but it looks to me the middle tweet below is the opposite of what he's trying to argue. He's saying willful ignorance is excusable, but genuine stupidity is not?

http://imgur.com/F17hhZW.png
He's just pissed he failed at his career and his avocation. As for Medical Students, there is some back-door truth to the matter, but it's not quite so cut-and-dried.

How it works is that many medical students, who are all very bright, at some point in their education (in many programs) will rotate through the biological sciences department to learn science actually works, including lab techniques, projects, etc. The scientists in those labs try and recruit those that have a talent for science (creativity).

Unsurprisingly, not many of them have it because the kind of mind you need to become a doctor (great a memorizing tons of information) isn't going to give you a leg up in science (figuring out how things work). Most doctors (like most people) are not terribly creative. Which is fine and not a knock. You need people who can learn and understand the nearly overwhelmingly complex body material and get it right the first time. And the last you need is someone paralyzed by the uncertainty you tend to find in the sciences.

The Department Head's husband, while teaching at Vanderbilt, decided to do an experiment and started to wear a coat-and-tie for his lectures. His student rankings went up a full point. Nothing else changed. Same room. Same materials. Same difficulty. Same grading.

Yet a full a point.

Which doesn't negate the variance. Or expected grade portion. It's just another factor. Look like a slob, people will down-grade you. Even if you are, like most all of my professors, a CIS White Patriarchal Shitlord.

I lasted, maybe, two or three months in the early days. She ran out of steam fast and I unsubscribed. She's really good looking. SHe has a good speaking voice. She presents well.

Sunder wrote:The thing about Glenn that has people in a tizzy at the moment is that once upon a time she pissed off SJWs (despite formerly being PZ Myers Youtube darling for a short while) and now they're wetting their pants over an opportunity to paint the other side as being just as bad as dudes like Werleman and Avicenna.

Even though the response from non-SJWs has mostly been "she absolutely deserves this."

Even though Werleman and Avicenna were serial plagiarists who got away with their shit for years whereas Glenn seems to have been caught immediately on her first attempt.
Three points and an addendum:

1. Yes, she was a chip in the SJW wars. Myers deployed her. She wasn't controllable. He then hated her. Dawkins, at one point, was endorsing her (at least via twitter).

2. They've been gunning for her for a long time. But she's been pretty smart and not played into their hands.

3. She got a bit lazy and did, in a minor form, what Avicenna and Werlemann were doing on a daily/weekly basis. That means she's 'worse than them' because she's an enemy-of-goodness while they 'made regrettable mistakes' but were 'fighting for the cause.'

Also, FWIW, there's a shit-ton of plagiarism on YouTube. From ideas and layouts all the way to ripping-off entire videos. SJW HERO Sarkeesian is among the worst of them, constantly ripping off other videos, directly reading from Wikipedia (seriously, directly, word-for-word) and other sources, and stealing every single thought in her videos from other sources. ALl of which makes her completely unoriginal and a plagiarist thief. Yet it's ok when she does it.

Point is, YouTube is YouTube and for anyone who is a vlogger on YouTube to grouse about plagiarism needs to make sure their hands are clean. This would include people like Watson, who has spent a lot of time ripping off others to produce her stunningly unoriginal material. And the fact this is the only one, unlike Sarkeesian, Watson, etc., is really small potatoes in my book. Not worth the tempest in a Tea Pot.

This right here. She wrote a long ass winded letter to the teachers about what her kids wanted in regards to saying the pledge. Of course it sounded suspiciously like what Elyse wanted, and not the kids of that age.

So what do the kids want? They want to join the boy scouts and girl scouts. Get out in the woods. Carve up some stuff with a pocket knife. Go hiking. Go camping. Build a pinewood derby car. Learn how to tie some knots. Do some crafts.

But no. She needs to tell them about how the kids need to revolt against such things. Shitty ass mother. Kind of like the Jehova Witnesses that won't let their kids celebrate a birthday or Christmas.

Last I heard that it's still broken and crappy and the that PC version is inferior to the console versions to the point you're actually penalized do to bad controls & coding issues. I'd stay away unless they have a FTP run. But there are alternatives. You can play World of ...

Tanks
Warplanes
Warships

For free. When you get to the mid-game, like Tier 4/5 in World of Warships, you can either start paying to shorten training, etc. or keep grinding. But until then, you can fairly evaluate these games and see if they're worth it to you.

I'm playing a lot of World of Warships right now. It's a lot of fun and it's much more thinking and strategy (especially group) oriented than tanks and warplanes. If you're more fast-twitch, WarPlanes is probably the best bet. Tanks is a lot more about tactics than Planes or Ships.
