Got into a 3 day argument some years back with a PETA supporter over owning dogs. At the time PETA wanted dog breeding outlawed
and wanted people to only get dogs that had been spayed from the SPCA (or animal shelters I'm assuming) I told the person this was PETA's weasely backhanded way of outlawing dog ownership, since there would be no dogs to own in a generation. Could not make the person connect the dots. Just a good little PETA drone like most of them.

One more thing, what was with the antibiotics in the tank? Would it render the cows unfit for use?

If so, what do they think would have happened to the animals?

Any hoo, thanks we haven't had cows in my neck of the woods for a hundred years.
If there are antibiotics in the tank the milk is poured down the drain as it can't go into the food chain. If it gets onto the tanker and into the bulk tank at the dairy company it would contaminate 50,000 litres and the farmer is liable. It's straightforward sabotage. As a dairyman a great deal of my time is spent ensuring the quality and cleanliness of the milk I produce. PETA and their equivalents spread an enormous amount of disinformation about antibiotics/mastitis and 'pus' in milk. To say nothing of the lies about welfare.
I've picked up quite a few dairies since I got the whole milk hauler gig. The cleanliness of the dairies I've picked up has varied wildly. The worst one has the rubber gaskets on the tank lids removed so legions of flies & other bugs can get in to drown & cowshit is always smeared all over the hoses. I had one load I picked up elsewhere rejected (ended up at a calf farm) after a mouse that must've gotten into an unsealed hose was found in pieces in the mousecatcher in my pumping gear. I've seen a few loads rejected at the plant for antibiotics or blood, too. You guys have a tough job keeping that stuff clean for the rest of us.

PZ retcons Watson hatred of Dawkins:
And then, of course, it’s all Rebecca Watson’s fault, because she hates Richard Dawkins and evolutionary psychology. I’ve known Watson for a few years, and again, this was not a prior bias. This was a gradual and strengthening rejection of what they stand for, built on experience and evidence. When you’ve been blacklisted by Dawkins, I think it’s only rational to oppose him. As for Watson and evolutionary psychology…
Don't know and couldn't give a shit about her evo psych.

But re Dawkins:

She was a fan girl on June 04 2011.
He Muslima'ed her on July 02 2011. But not by name.
She immediately responded by boycotting him in full snark mode on July 05 2011.
He counter boycotted her at Reason Rally promo prep in September 2011.

"Gradual and strengthening" my ass. Fucking liar.

Is their version of the truth really so plastic and malleable or do they know they're lying and justify it by their version of the greater good? I really would like to know.

PZ's white knighting of Watson and, fuck me, defense of Massimo (because of his Dawkins hate) here.

Apparently Jamy Ian Swiss is also coping 100% of the blame for the dis-dis-invitation. On the basis that Dawkins addressed him when declining to participate in the rescheduled pogrom.

PZ goes on:
You might want to read Siouxsie Wiles, a fellow Kiwi, rather than Perrot. She points out the real problem with the attitudes that too many skeptics and atheists have:

(Quoting Wiles) "Watson and Roth continue to be active in the atheist/skeptic community but many others have left because of the treatment they have received. It saddens me that Dawkins either doesn’t appear to understand the impact of his actions, or doesn’t care, and neither do his supporters. Perrott ends his post by implying that Watson and others are bullying extremists who bandy around words like “sexist” and “misogynist” to shut down important discussion. I disagree. They are valuable members of the atheist/skeptic community ....."
Emphasis added.

I'm going to go with sick and deluded over lying.

Yea, it just reeks of desperation. I don't know why but I'm envisioning this Rowe (dude ?) banging out entries to this account between bouts of smashing things in his ( hers? ) bedroom.

I've decided, I want to make that "her" truth a thing.

Perhaps that's how these slack fuckers sleep at night.

That Becky had a long and steady disenchantment with RD is " their" truth.

I've worked with her for a few years ( his truth)

I've worshiped and dreamt of being her unworthy toilet slave for the better part of almost a decade( truth truth)

See how that works.

I am increasingly convinced that the SJ mindset constantly reshapes the past as a reflection of current feelz.

Becky felt during her posthoc video that the lift "incident" was creepy and scary. At the time no doubt she simply rolled her eyes. But so it became.

Alison decided that her drunk, allegedly enthusiastic coupling with Shermer was raep. As so it became.

Stollznow felt that after a professional tiff, her complex relationship with Radford was best interpreted as simple sustained abuse. And presto.

Here the feelz are positive - RW tried but failed to see the non existent good in Dawkins. Over many years. Because she is a good person and that's what a good person would do. And zing. A turkey materialises.

That's why facts matter. Even boring prosaic timelines.

Somehow he/she/it hasn't thrown a hissy fit about the account-holder joking about baptism causing autism.

So, now he's sidling up to him with this honorable opponent horseshit and doesn't think anyone will notice it's a greasy move? Peez really hasn't learned anything beyond the 3rd grade playground

The account has been going only a few hours and Aiden stumbled across it and decided to follow based on hardly any tweets? And he's one of only four followers?

I'm pretty sure it's either his sock or a close friend of is.

And he attacks others for ableism while following/writing tweets that joke about autism?

Oh, yeah, I'm scared. They pose a clear and present danger. They can't fight their way out of a wet paper bag, loathe firearms and have the tactical cunning of a dung beetle. But revolution, they'll show us what's what. By the power of Twitter and Tumblr, we shall be humbled. The trains won't run on time, or even run, but the revolution will ensure that everyone's pronouns will be respected even as starvation destroys society. Glory be.

Are you giving the depth of their arses in foot or have you just mucked up the position of the apostrophe?

Good observation for the SJW dictionary:
Raising awareness - Lying, allegedly for a greater good. (Compare: Taqiyya; Lying for Jesus).

We should write an SJW speak to English dictionary.
Would be quite the amusing read.

The shoop artists can do the pics.

I finally overcame bad reviews to watch MOON, which was simply brilliant, and SOURCE CODE, which requires one initial suspension of disbelief before taking you on a well-paced, exciting ride (then one gaping plot hole at the very end, but roll with it.)

The bad reviews of AUTOMATA, however, were accurate. It made a terrible hash out of a potentially fascinating premise.
Moon and Source Code are the only reasons I'm going to give the WoW movie a chance. Duncan Jones is a fucking genius director.

Oh, and Travis Fimmel (watched the first episode of the new Vikings season. It was ace.)

The head in the vice scene is from Casino. Easy to mix them up though, both Scorcese movies, with De Niro and Pesci amongst others.
Then I must have some edited version, because that scene is missing from my copy of Casino. Was it some kind of Director's Cut thingy?

And if it turns out to be crap we can just cobble together a selection of old posts from the endless thread and pass it off as new material!

Hmm, I don't know then. It's been in the versions I have seen. Even when shown on UK television, I"m not really a film buff though, all I have is my lived experience!

I think Samantha Bee and Donald Trump could have a great late night career.

An interesting article on opendemocracy about the rise of a new "shame culture" through SJW activism, and about why it's a huge deal (h/t Claire Lehmann):
In an interesting essay, Lukianoff and Haidt deplore the moral and civic poverty of “catastrophizing” — a self-infantilising attitude whereby common events such as offense occasioned by free speech are hyperbolised into nightmarish trials from which the “victim” might not emerge unscathed
The elevation of victimhood to the level of celebratory virtue serves as a trump card curtailing debate by allowing the “victim” to make unsubstantiated claims about racism and the like. Victimhood becomes a cloak behind which the dagger hides. It places on the purported offenders the undue burden of proving their innocence in a climate poisoned by those posing as, or speaking on behalf of, victims. There is no better way to lash out with impunity than posing as a victim.
Interestingly enough, in the comment there's a plethora of SJWs who defend the idea of taking down the statue of Cecil Rhodes (the event which inspired the article) which caused the readers to with various arguments which basically boil down to "tearing down the past sends a signal to the present" and that they're not reacting out of outrage, but because they're "fighting against injustice". Many suggest destroying or spraying painting the statue as a way to signal their virtue.
