Let me lob a softball into your hitting zone, then.

One of my (many) great disappointments in Obama was his inaction on torture after saying (while campaigning) that some things that the CIA had done were torture. The Convention Against Torture is very clear: a signatory must investigate all instances, starting with those it has, itself, committed. It does not say that you can turn a blind eye and only "look forward" if that's what you think will "heal the country."

LONDON — Pedophile panic has struck one of Britain’s least lovely seaside towns. A vigilante gang of mothers claimed they had broken up a brazen pedophile ring operating in plain sight.
In reality, they were just ruining the vacation of a small group of teachers from Greece who had probably gone on vacation to Essex by mistake. Southend-on-Sea may be one of the closest beaches to London but its rough reputation means it’s more Jersey Shore than the Eastern Shore.

The unsuspecting holidaygoers were taking photographs of the seafront fountains, which were recently installed in a bid to attract tourists, when they were confronted and then detained by a local mob who accused them of creeping on their children.

While they were waiting for the police to arrive, one of the angry mothers took photographs of the men and reportedly posted them to her Facebook page—where they were shared thousands of times with a caption claiming that she had “smashed” a pedophile ring.

It took police officers a few minutes to determine that the women had done no such thing. They looked through the images on the teachers’ cameras and concluded that they were all perfectly innocent snaps “of the general seafront area.”

It was the most cockamamie pedophile conflagration on the English coast since roaming gangs of vigilante mothers forced four innocent families out of their homes in a Portsmouth housing estate in 2000.

It's ben fairly quiet on the drama front. Oxford grad Gabriel is couch surfing and complaining. Ophie is reveling in the recent split by a bunch of FTB bloggers to a "no, we're not really rivals" blog site The Orbit, which also added a number of personality-disordered new bloggers. FTB added a bunch of new bloggers but haven't really said or done anything very controversial. Michael Nugent got accused of being homophobic by an Irish blogger who is now on The Orbit.

Slymepit folks did a hangout with Sargon of Akkad. Comhinc bought a weasel. A Youtube video of a giraffe fellated a pole got posted. I think that's about it.

PZ just established that the use of 'enemy, lists was idiotic and beneath his dignity.

Now he has claimed that asking your own toxic commenters for advice on how to remove said poison also constitutes stupidity.
It’s an interesting series. They’ve made a good effort at identifying the problem, but then they go looking for a solution, and unfortunately, their answer is that they don’t have one. So they throw up their hands and ask their readers to leave a comment suggesting one. Unless that’s a trick to get some more comments to analyze, that doesn’t sound like a good approach. It’s a bit like polling a cancer to ask it how we can make our body a little more pleasant to live in.

Nothing happened in Colorado. Not a damn thing. The Colorado caucuses mean nothing at this point. Not that a bunch of SJW causing righty/conservatives should be allowed to vote anyhow.
I'm even feeling sympathy for Sanders at this moment even though I think his policies are insane. He keeps winning and winning and is basically funded by his supporters and yet it is all in vain. The nomination will be handed to Hillary. The whole voting system is corrupt. It shouldn't matter if you are left or right, you should want Sanders to win the Democrat nomination and Trump to win the Republican nomination. Both the GOPe and the Dems need to be burnt to the ground.

The Republican party is a private organization that can choose its candidates however it wants. If Trump doesn't like it rather than whine and threaten to sue people maybe he should run as an independent (or hire a competent campaign manager who knows how the various states choose their delegates. All the stuff Cruz is doing is perfectly legal within the party's rules). No one is forcing him to run as a Republican.
Then why hold the primaries in the first place?

A reasonable question and relates to the superdelegate bullshit the Dems deploy specifically so party leaders can choose their candidate.

Sol'n: taxpayers should not pay for primaries or hold them. Make them a cost the party must bear.

Critical thinking really is taking a nosedive among a few members of the Pit these days. You are among them. The law does not inform ethics, rather the other way around. By your argument, which is that "it's okay because it's legal," a shitload of things that are abhorrent are perfectly okay like female genital mutilation and stoning people to death for adultery. Those written into the law in some countries? How do you feel about slavery? That was legal (still is in some places) at various times as well. Not only is your argument incredibly weak, it's based on flawed thinking and you've only made it because YOU PERSONALLY aren't displeased with the outcome.
Well said. I mean it is not like we are talking about 'WE THE PEOPLE' here in some obscure document and their right to vote for the person who represents them.

Instead, I simply nod and smile when people go on about their religion and then bringing the conversation back to the laws that go against secularism. I have had more success this way, including getting a majority of my Catholic relatives to agree that the Parsonage Exemption should be eliminated (my current focus).
I think marginalisation and limiting their political influence should be the goal as they are never going to go away.

Hillary has like 2 million more votes already. Sanders wins mostly in caucus states, where 4,000 party insiders get together in school gymnasiums.

While I'm waiting to pick up the spoons that will enable me to write my first real blog post here, I thought it might be cool to posit a thing or two about my commenting rules.

You want to comment here? Wonderful. No, really. But first ask yourself: Why? Do you disagree with something I wrote? Well, tough luck. You don't get to tell me in my own safe space that I am "wrong". If I thought I was wrong, I wouldn't have written what I wrote. Obvious, ain't it? So keep your asshattery to yourself, thank you very much. Just don't fucking come and 'splain to me I am wrong. I will ban your stupid ass so fast that you won't know what hit you.

Also, if you're a cishet white male, and you feel the urge to comment here, please have the decency to come out clean about that up front. Tell us you're a cishet white male before you start 'splainin'. This rule also applies if you fancy yourself an ally. No, make that: especially when you're an ally.

And please, y'all, Don't. Wear. Surly-Ramics. while you comment here. My tolerance for ableism is less than zero. I won't let it creep in in any shape or form. Your lame piece-'o-shit Surly tells me that you're supporting a vile ableist. You're not welcome here. Just. Stay. The. Fuck. Away. OK?

That's about it, I guess.

Oh, yeah, there's something else I wanted to yap about. I would like you to weigh in about the name of this blog. I am not all that happy with the one I'm using right now. You know the feeling, when you think so long and hard about a word that it loses all meaning. So I cannot tell which is better. Trans Position. Trans Location. Trans Lucid. It's all a blur to me right now. Suggestions appreciated.

Sounds like a perfect recipe for an echo-chamber to me. And I might be wrong, but "lame" and "stupid" are considered ableist, no? Do I detect a whiff of hypocrisy?
(Cishet white male here, would rather be found dead than wearing Surly-Ramics.)

Wait wait...what? This imbecile doesn't want you to wear offending items of clothing while...writing comments on s/h/it's blog? Fucking SERIOUSLY??

Have you got a link to this? Cos I need to know if this shit's real. I just looked at the Orbit but couldn't find the blog listed there - which doesn't mean much considering Tweeaboo's running the tech side of things.

Saw a documentary the other day on BBC, about James Randi. Storyville. It was pretty good. Saw Michael Shermer on there and DJ Grothe. Got all maudlin for you lot.

I dunno. It could go either way - classic Poe's Law in action.

Be not too carefree why thy promises, Parse. Zvan might hold you to that, especially if she sees your twitpic and gets wind of what a man-hottie you are. It'd be like that scene out of...shit, what was that film called? The one about bowling, featured Woody out of Cheers licking out a manky old lady then puking in the toilet afterwards. Ah. Kingpin. Yeah, that's the one. Anyway, it'd be like that.

This is what happens when I'm away from the ranch & have too much time on my hands -- simultaneous patheos scrums on

Dick Carrier and Bayes and Jesus:

Trans in toilets:
http://www.patheos.com/blogs/lovejoyfem ... -myth.html

I feel a banning coming on in the latter.

Now I recall where I'd seen that Trans Formation logo...Jan did a previous one, attached to one of his fish cartoons.

It seemed so real, though. That honestly could have been a genuine Orbit post.

At least Parse doesn't have to lick any of Zvan's fleshy lobes. It's nice having him back, wouldn't want to lose him forever.

Nowt interesting. Just shite all really.

How's things with you and yours? Sorry if it's a sore topic, mate.....I been out the loop and that.
Cheers, mate. Actually, pretty good all things considered. He's doing his second round of chemo now but other than experiencing bouts of pain now and then, he's doing fine. Yeah, I'm a bit calmer now than I was a few months ago. Thanks for the worry, though, appreciate it. ;)

As for what's been happening at the 'Pit, it's been pretty shite for events, too, truth be told. The-Orbit.net is very lulzworthy, however.
