It is, but it's not always fun. I'm afraid that losing significant weight is not an option for me any longer - fortunately I'm at a healthy weight, but then I keep thinking of my svelte younger self. :bjarte:

I agree with not blaming the Pit for John's death, but I wouldn't blame John either.

I never seriously thought about killing myself, but there was a time when I thought I could understand why a person might want to. For me, all the comfort I needed was the thought that I was going to die anyway some day. There was always a possibility that something might happen along the way that I wouldn't want to miss.

Years ago I was a volunteer at a refuge for runaway teenagers, and once a few of us were in a conversation with someone who said he wanted to kill himself. It had something to do with a feeling he kept having, and when he described it to us, we were all like "That sounds a lot like the way I feel sometimes." I know the hazards of saying "Oh yes, I understand," but in this case, when we told him that we had feelings like that sometimes too, it was a big relief to him. He really thought he was the only one in the world who ever felt that way.

I don't imagine there's only one reason why people want to kill themselves. There might be many very different reasons. For myself, when I thought I could understand why a person might want to, it was because I didn't see any possibility at all for any future I could look forward to.

I think now that if I knew that someone in my life was considering suicide, I would try to let them to know how important they are to me, and what a loss it would be for me if they died.

Going to the barn now to tackle real, instead of virtual, piles of shit.
Heh. Galen Broadarse. Probably not that much of an ex-fundie in reality - he simply swapped Jesus for Peezus. Frequently seen popping up in various comments sections across t'web simply to defend Peez to the hilt. Bit of a twat and extremely boring with it. How that dull fucker got a plush Patheos gig I'll never know.
Galen strikes me as the kind of fellow who burns his toast every single morning, but remains perplexed as how to avoid it.

No. Fuck you. You are a fucking asshole. There are people here who really knew John, had conversations with him, and deeply cared about him and reached out and did where they could to help him.

They don't need you showing up with your bullshit. They don't need your approval of what they are doing and they certainly don't need your empty fucking words.

It's disrespectful and you fucking disgust me.

John was my friend. There are other people here that new him better than me but I had a lot of conversations with him last year. He helped me get with some stuff and I tried, and failed, to help him.

It's a bunch of twits who love to talk but hate to listen. I say peek inside once a while to see if they've started eating each other yet but otherwise not worth bothering.

I said it before but their primary audience is people who set up permanent camp in comment sections discussing how every article is actually about them, and that when they're no longer able to talk about themselves in the space below an article they'll stop bothering to even pretend to have read it and wander off someplace else. Closing comments means ditching their entire readership. The dumb fucks should really just save the hosting fees and spend a buck-fifty each on a notepad diary.

Oh fuck me -- my new huckleberry , Galen Broadass, is a secular minister!

http://centralillinoiscelebrant.com/about-galen/

You know, I was nice to him about a month or so ago, empathizing with his confusion & disillusionment at the athie-secu-skeppie-human movement not being a full-blown love-bombing, super-conformity cult like his baptist church upbring.

But seriously, these fundie apostates need to be placed in quarantine and given some sort of deprogramming before being let in. Or just ship them straight to PETA.

Broadass is a wanabee PZ, basically a nasty little shit who thinks his morals are more important than people. He loves to block anyone that disagrees with him. Also had a thing with Michael Nugent last year.

He was the only thing that even sounded interesting in that movie.

I use discuss movies with the the director Dan Trachtenberg back when he was doing the "Totally Rad Show" on Revision3. Never really enjoyed his take on things.

It's a fairly decent movie, not Earth shattering but an enjoyable enough way to spend an evening. Mind you, I loved "Cloverfield" and even though "10 Cloverfield lane" is a sequel (of sorts), it's a fairly different beast.

The ending though, that's where the movie falls apart. But hey, don't let me put you off - give it a go!

I care.

It would be nice if you stopped trying to speak for the pit. Put him on ignore and be done with it if he annoys you so much. As it stands I'm more irritated that every time I scroll past one of his posts I have to scroll past another one of yours declaring how irritated you were by said post.

See I didn't like Cloverfield, but I liked the idea of the film if that makes sense? Found footage films don't do it for me. They make me queasy. I will check it out through.

This is a slight serve but if you enjoy John Goodman the Amazon Prime show he is on is very good and smart.

You care? You actually care about this religious nut who talks to himself and refuses to answer questions when people attempted to engage him?

Jim is part of a cult and his purpose here is to convert people. Unless it happened behind the scenes he had zero to do with John. I am speaking for myself when I say I do not like him trying to use John's death as a way to endear himself to people. That is a level of emotional manipulation I can't stand.

So sorry if I am irritating to you. That wasn't meant to be snarky. I can understand people not liking it but I did stop engaging with him a while ago but I wouldn't feel right just letting this slide by.

You can count me in if I can find a bike for a fat fuck like myself that I can afford.
I would likely contribute to a GoFundMe for a bike for you to participate, Com. Just putting it out there, dot dot dot. A pic of you hug-raping the Shermrapist would be worth the price of admission.

Caught up now and have read your comments, Com. I disagree and can't see the reasons why you get so worked up, let alone righteous and indignant, over an current of ex-fundie, or whatever he is or pretends he is, making a bit of a goop of himself and generally being socially awkward. Put him on ignore.

I remember when, back in the day, my auto reply SMTP rule got into a conversation with someone else's auto reply. It got messy fast.

Don't know why I just thought of that.

Jim is ultimately a person. I'd probably PM or ignore him if I gave a damn. I mean it's not like he's old school FtB or anything.
