Those with 1% Indian history tend to bang on about that, not the 99% of their ancestors who committed genocide.

My ancestors did fuck all to Caine's: Caine's ancestors did it to each other.

I'm interested, but so far it hasn't been enough to do all the work.

Somewhere I have a passenger list that my aunt gave me, for the ship that carried some of my Swiss ancestors to the US. My father was from a Swiss Mennonite family in Berne, Indiana. I have a book written by one of my distant cousins, about the Amish Christian church, which was started by one of my ancestors there.

Ah, my great grandparents (father's side) were English 'black bumper' Mennonites who lived in Indiana. My great-grandfather is buried here:

Doesn't it at least mean your great-great-grandfather was a fucking slave owner?

Tricky scenario. Had the police or the prosecutor caught her out in the lie, I definitely think she should be prosecuted.

But but confessing to her lie, she prevented an innocent man from going to prison, and helped the prosecutor to avoid punishing an innocent man. And this might not have happened had she not confessed. This is something they would prefer to encourage. It is not a perfect solution. But it is preferable to alternative outcomes.
Knee Jerk, I'd say 'no.' But you're right. Because it's better late than never and him being in jail so if that's the price, it's worth it.

Don't plea bargain Elyse! Stick to the patriarchy and make them give you a trial so you can prove you're the helpless victim of police brutality!

I really liked him on that show and used to call him the poor man's Bruce Willis at the time.
When I first saw him I thought he must have been Bruce Willis' brother. Kind of like Charlie Sheen & Emilio Estevez. Or the Baldwin brothers. And since their voices, at least to my ear, have a lot similarities I went with that assumption for years.

Ah come on Little Paul, judging by your capering commentariat and your blog posts you have long ago learned how to overlook all manner of logical fallacy, and even utilise them. Youtube would be a breeze for you in that regard.

Oh and Little Paul's latest stub of a post is ragging on a homeopath, however, I thought that 'Big Foot' skepticism was no longer de rigeur in His exalted circles where real skepticism is practiced.

Hmmm.
Conservapedia, a site which has railed against the theory of relativity and claimed that New Atheists have a weight problem (I wish I were joking), which has had a sordid history of censoring editors who don’t toe the conservative Christian line of Schlafly and company, is saying that atheism has a problem of groupthink. - See more at: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/rivers/201 ... 8ZmDN.dpuf
But why is that a problem, Broadass? Surely censorship is only objectional when the government does it, right? Seems almost as if you think Conservapedia owes you and your fellow ideologues a platform, or something.

My only relatives in Canada are my daughter and her family.

I remember a rhyme in Swiss German that my father and his mother used to say, bouncing children on their lap, about riding on a horse, and a hoodleman falling into the ditch. After my father died, at a memorial service, I heard for the very first time a recording of him and his brothers singing a hymn in German.

I grew up thinking that the language of my ancestors was Swiss. I was a little traumatized when I read that there is no Swiss language.

I remember reading the same thing about the Creole in Martinique, Guadeloupe and some other Islands, people saying that it isn't a language. I think what they really meant was that there was no institutional standard for it.

I hear you.

We watched Columbo a lot, many years ago, and I keep thinking I might like to watch it again, but when I think of specific episodes that I remember, I'm not sure I would enjoy watching them again. If we run out of shows to watch on YouTube, we might go back to one of the Star Trek series. We really liked Deep Space Nine, but in later seasons it started getting too dark for me.

My favorite among the detective dramas was Rockford Files. The hero regularly gets the sock in the jaw that looks like it hurts, has trouble collecting his fee, has his good nature taken advantage of. One of the writers started playing a featured character named Angel who is a wonderful scoundrel friend

Because she is the pitch-perfect example of what happens when you ground your identity in victimhood and refuse to accept any personal responsibility.

Everyone has a purpose, and some exist to serve as cautionary examples.

The Rockford Files were awesome. I bought a '75 Vega kinda because of that show.

Mine was a pretty big piece of shit. Was faded rally orange and had an exhaust leak that really fucked up people in the back seat.

We liked the Rockford Files too. One line engraved in my memory was when he teamed up with Richie Brockelman, and someone asked him "Where's Brockelman?" Rockford said, "It's not my turn to watch him."

My Corvair convertible had a leak in the perimeter seal, which I only found out about after months of nearly falling asleep at the wheel. That might also be the car I was driving when I always had to have a spare fan belt with me.

Sounds like it could have been uncomfortable for them.

Well I mean I was totally killing my friends with carbon monoxide poisoning. If you were in the front seat with the windows open you were fine.

Sex was quick but interesting.

If we run out of shows to watch on YouTube, we might go back to one of the Star Trek series. We really liked Deep Space Nine, but in later seasons it started getting too dark for me.
Try Petrocelli.
Looks promising. I don't how we missed out on watching that.

Reading Wikipedia's description of the format, "with the client apparently certain to be convicted of a crime of which they were innocent until a late-emerging piece of evidence allowed the protagonist to suggest to the jury an alternative possibility," it seems similar in that way to Perry Mason, which we watched on YouTube until we couldn't find any more episodes.

Her only relevance is as a warning sign to other vulnerable children thinking of mixing with Skepchicks or SJWs. They fuck you up.

She's got Social Justice Warrior written all over her. Wouldn't surprise me if she has Pharyngula bookmarked. Fucking psychopath.

Really?

Dating a Skepchick. Not even once. They suck the life right out of you.

Think of the CO as an early date rape drug, one which gives new meaning to the diagnosis of post-coital headache.

I dont like rhetorical questions. So I'll interpret this as an actual invitation for an answer.

Elyse is relevant because she's Too Much Information prone, so we have copious access to raw data most people keep private. The touchstones of the persona she has cultivated-- being a Hillary cheerleader since high school, violent anti-police posturing, serial rape accusation, polyamory, her-- in middle age-- identifying as Queer-- are relevant to today's social trends & headlines.

People have asked whether she's still a worthy target of examination & ridicule ever-since she parted ways with the Skepchicks. I think she has done quite a bit to remain relevant, since then.

I didnt mention her much in the last year, because she is no longer surprising me on a daily basis, as in her 922 Smashparty heyday. But the very fact that her police assault case is still not adjudicated is noteworthy. "Right to a speedy trial" is one of the many rights which has been stretched-thin in my lifetime.

Julian Assange is a Russian spy and likely so is Glen Greenwald and they both should be strung up.
