My thoughts after hearing the Comey testimony:

It's possible that Trump himself didn't understand that what he was asking Comey to do about Flynn could be interpreted as obstruction of justice. Trump isn't a government official, a lawyer or a member of law enforcement, he's a businessman with a very "informal" approach to his business, so his knowledge of laws and understanding of obstruction of justice might be sketchy at best.

He might have thought that he was simply asking Comey to do him a personal favor, which is what a boss might ask to a head of Human Resources ("hey, lay off Bob, he's a good guy") but clearly not so appropriate if you're a president talking to the head of a law enforcement agency about a criminal case.

It's also possible that Trump later realized (on his own or by talking to someone else about it) that his action was potentially criminal, he might have decided to fire Comey and threaten him with tapes since he thought that Comey pledged loyalty to him (even though Comey apparently didn't).

Trump might have convinced that he and Comey have "that thing" (a loyalty pledge) going on and that he could ruin Comey's career if Comey revealed something that might put him in a tight spot. Again, this is something you might do as a boss to a disgruntled employee ("don't squeal on me or I'll make sure nobody hires you") but not as a US president.

Overall I think that Trump still reasons like he's head of his business, not head of state, and that's why he's acted the way he's acted. He doesn't understand that he wasn't elected CEO of America, Inc., but president of a country. He finds it hard to understand checks and balances to his office since he's not used to checks and balances in his business.

My personal guess: the "golden showers" bit is untrue, the "blackmail" bit is untrue, but there might be something about Trump's economic ties to Russia that came out when investigating possible Russian meddling in the US election. I don't think Trump broke any laws deliberately, I think if he did it he did it because he doesn't understand the role of a president or care about legal details, because he thinks that he can run the US like he ran his businesses.

Most politicians are either former lawyers or legal scholars or listen to their legal experts, who know all the ins and outs of legal matters and if they want to make deals they know exactly how to make them legal, even if they're shady.

As for the tapes, never underestimate Trump's ability not to keep his mouth shut when he should. The guy has no filter, he says everything he wants to say. Even his lies are blatant, not very sophisticated. He's a bombastic con man who goes with the flow how what seems popular at the moment, he's no "super 4D chess genius", nor an evil dictator wannabe, he simply doesn't get why there are checks and balances to his power.

This is one of the risks of electing businessmen, incidentally, they're used to being the boss and to have few limits to their actions, they're not really used to a separation of powers.

I agree with you fully on that. I used to follow the now defunct Islamic Awakening forum which was run out of one of the more radical London mosques and they would drop clues from time to time about how much connection these assholes had to with "brothers" in the heavy duty prisons like Belmarsh. It seemed the regulars and the people running the forum and the mosque were cons and ex-cons. Other members of the forum would organize penpal type relationships with prisoners and raise money to help out them and their families because the poor dears were unfairly detained for their love of Allah.
One group they promoted was CAGE, formerly Cageprisoners which helped out people jailed on terrorism charges. At one time these scum were getting support from Amnesty international and funding from respected charities.

I think the exit poll is understating tory support a little (as the 2015 exit poll did). My prediction: tories win overall majority but not a big one - certainly not as big as Theresa was hoping for. So it would effectively be back to square one for her. Hey ho.
