Yeah, it sounds about right. The political and social climate around certain issues is so toxic that people are just glad to see smug holier-than-thou wannabe censors knocked down a peg.

I'm convinced that the call-out culture of the SocJus has alienated far more people than it has persuaded. Most of them aren't even anti-SJW, they're just sick of all the bullshit and don't care anymore. I think that the more the SJWs will double down on certain issues the less people will care about them. Even the current zero tolerance policy on sex scandals will actually lead to more apathy towards the issue rather than to any kind of real change.

The attitude of blaming society for one's problems is typical of identity politics, both on the left and on the right (lots of online white supremacists rants and rave about how they can't find a wife because of mixed marriage or some other bullshit).

A reasonable, evidence-based left isn't much about blaming one's personal problems on society, but recognizing that society isn't perfect as it is, but always needs some degree of adjustments in order to function and to react to new challenges, not to mention to avoid leaving some people behind, which creates a whole lot of trouble.

A functional social democratic left isn't focused on creating a nanny state that give every single Protected Identity something nice to stop the whining, but on protecting equal human rights for everyone, assuring that the largest possible number of people are reasonably healthy, not excessively poor and educated enough to find a decent-paying job, on promoting meritocracy by helping brilliant but poor or social disconnected people, on ensuring governmental transparency, a healthy balance of independent powers, protection from abuses of authority and a decent legal representation even for people who can't afford a crack-shot legal team and on regulating the market to avoid as much as possible damaging monopolies, cronyism and powerful lobbies.

The SocJus is part of the left, but is far from all of it. Actually the existence of the SocJus is an obstacle to the solution of some real social issues that a more reasonable left could try to tackle. People spend way too much time and effort discussing fat-shaming in video games or "cultural appropriation" or the damage done by mean tweets or the right pronouns for the 586859659 genders other First World Problems and not enough focusing on improving healthcare, reforming welfare, fighting cronyism, promoting transparency, etc. etc.

I think that in order to at least repair some of the damage done by the SocJus we need a strong leftist anti-SJW movement. I can't see it happening anytime soon, though, since when people like Sanders even try to approach the issue they're instantly demonized as alt-righters.

RadarOnline.com has exclusively obtained the explosive police report that charges the devout Scientologist, 63, of harassing a male spa employee during a late-night rub-down.

The Saturday Night Fever actor allegedly groped the man’s bare buttocks, indecently exposed himself and made lewd remarks about gay fantasies.

The supposed victim’s shocking description of the incident threatens to blow the lid off Travolta’s long-rumored double life as a happily married family man.

Traumatized by what happened, the 21-year-old reported the incident to Palm Springs Sheriff’s Department, who sent an officer to the scene.

Upon arriving at the hotel, Officer Mark Peters was told an employee wanted to file complaint against Travolta for sexual battery, his report states.

Interesting how during the 2016 elections youtube was paying dozens of Kremlin sponsored channels to broadcast propaganda to influence the elections. Presumably their new system to remedy that monumental fuckup is to review any channel that receives a complaint and rule on the video according to how much the Anita Sarkeezian crowd likes or dislikes the person that made the video. If the video makes it through the first review you can just keep complaining until someone that hates the videos maker sees it.
Presumably, the major push is to assure advertiser friendly content but if they are going to screw over content producers like this they eventually will be stuck with pablum content and not enough viewers to draw advertisers.

Cut sprouts in half. Place on baking dish with the open end up. Spray with olive oil. Sprinkle with spices (garlic etc). Bake at 350 F till the ends start to brown. Cover with shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Broil till the cheese is brown.... enjoy.

I'm starting to see a number of UK feminists use the latest sex scandals to push for criminalisation of 'sexual harassment'.

At the moment, outside of the workplace, it's things like stalking or groping that are criminalised by specific laws. They want to extend that criminalisation to various other behaviours, and the concerning thing is just how wide their definition of sexual harassment can be.

"Of course sexual harassment should be criminalised," says Samantha Rennie, director of Rosa, a charity which supports initiatives for women and children.

Two-thirds of UK women have reportedly been sexually harassed so it's important that we have the law behind women, she says.

That 'two-thirds' statistic includes women who've experienced an unwanted sexual advance, had someone stare at their body, or overheard a sexual joke/comment that made them uncomfortable. I can see the argument that it's all unacceptable in the workplace, but what exactly do they want criminalised when it happens on the street or down the pub?

The last time I heard of 'Rosa' they were stirring up moral panic about sexism in music videos, especially the track Blurred Lines. They condemned it as a "rape song" that promotes violence against women and were involved in a petition against it. Their goal was to get sites like Vevo and Youtube to remove it, but the best they did was get it banned by a few right-on clubs and student unions.

I'm pretty sure I remember them, or one of the other feminist groups they were working with, argue that publicly playing songs like Blurred Lines was itself a form of sexual harassment... Not people I'd want deciding what behaviour should be criminal offence.
