The primary beef about Dunham is that she threw Aurora Perrineau, a woman of color, under the bus when Lena tweeted out she listened but didn't believer her, she believed her white Jewish male writer Murray Miller.

The secondary beef is that Dunham is a hipster racist and the guilt by association stuff. Though I don't think it's quite guilt by association. Clemmons is saying Dunham's social circle were all these sorts of racists and then gives the example of the one n word girl. But it seems clear she means everyone in Dunham's crowd behaved that way and condoned that sort of behavior.

Probably the biggest factor has been loss of novelty. Atheism as a rallying cry was never going to last forever. It was fun for a while, but it gets old fast. These days my eyes glass over the moment I even attempt to read an article or blog post on creationism. How many times can you repeat that something is stupid before it begins to drive you nuts? The only ones who are still in that game are in it for other gratifications. Some people simply like the feeling of calling other people stupid. (I think we all know who I'm talking about.)

Then of course there's the fact that the cons have been infected with COCs Who really wants to go half way around the world to be monitored by Big Sister, potentially commit some faux pas or other, lose credibility and perhaps livelihood?

I would never attend a meeting with someone as toxic as Clementine Ford. There are certain people who just break the deal for me. Amanda Marcotte, Rebecca Solnit...etc. You might as well dig up Dworkin. I will not be in attendance. I'm not quite that self-loathing.
