Re: In 2017 Idiocracy is a Documentary
Am I not right in saying that there was a time at least, that if either of these two had ended up in prison for what they are accused of,
the other inmates, although not being the most perfect specimens of manhood or humanity themselves, would be thoroughly disgusted by them, and would have kicked seven bells out of them?
If this is no longer the case, then I am sure we can blame progressives for the change in attitude and for being soft on criminal culture.

Indeed. Although I've seen more than a few, Cathy Young in particular though I can't find it at the moment. But there's this recent one in the same vein:jet_lagg wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 1:04 pmThe universal outrage in response to that New York Times Nazi piece has been eye opening. I knew I'd drifted far from mainstream opinion the past 5 years or so, but I didn't realize just how ridiculously far. I saw exactly one response out of hundreds that agreed with me. The article doesn't normalize anything. That already happened when a generation born after nearly all the holocaust survivors were already dead learned that a "Nazi" is anyone to the right of Mao. What the article does is illustrate the banality of evil and give you some insight into how people might find their way towards Nazism. Unless it's a time of war and you're planning on defeating your opponents by killing them I don't see any use in dehumanization, which is what those complaining about normalization are really asking for. Not that many of them would admit it.
Meta: I see that a bare-neked tweet link doesn't show up in the Preview (hence the quote & underscore) and, at least previously, still displays as the full tweet. Work around? Changes made?
This doesn't produce any effect, as it did before, at least in the Preview:

So guest posting seems to require a username, but not necessarily one registered on the board, and any email address.??

Kudos to the Washington Post for adhering to objective journalistic standards instead of swallowing the lie because of "believe the victim". If O'Keefe had tried that stunt with someone like Sabrina Erdely he might have gotten his lie published.free thoughtpolice wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 4:45 pmThat creepy James O'Keefe fucker has fed a false story to The Washington Post to try get them to publish the claim that Roy Moore impregnated a 15 year old, and presumably then having to withdraw it.

This is why objective standards matter, and why progressives/liberals/Democrats should defend them instead of following the SocJus bandwagon. Not only those standards protect the rights of the accused, but they protect the media themselves from being suckered by assholes like O'Keefe.

Re: In 2017 Idiocracy is a Documentary
So do women really want affirmative consent sex?
If you believe all the feminists today, yes they do.
But here, the Mary Sue says yes they do, but not really.
The whole piece is about how sexy affirmative consent is, and then
When you are on a date with a girl going in for a spontaneous kiss is totally hot, especially if you are vibing well.
Here's Bari Weiss in the New York Times with an odd piece
This piece too is about the glories of the new age of affirmative consent
While we women revisit our sexual histories, the men I know — old and young, liberal and conservative — are doing the same from the flip side. A Republican man told me that he was considering reaching out to a girl he went on a date with in high school to apologize for kissing her in the car. She didn’t say no, and she kissed him back. But he worries that she felt pressured. A close friend, a progressive, told me about a college hookup he regrets. He is spending time wondering about how the woman thinks about the experience: Did it leave a scar? Or is it arrogant to even assume she remembers his name?
This reckoning would never have happened without Gretchen Carlson and Lara Setrakian and Selma Blair and Rose McGowan and Kyle Godfrey-Ryan and the hundreds of others who told reporters their stories. They deserve our praise and our gratitude.
Do women who go to a movie on a date, when they are in a car with a date, really want that date to ask for that kiss?
I know I belong in a museum, but somehow I just don't think affirmative consent is actually what most women will want.

Sleeping Beauty is too difficult for children of 6 or 7 years old to handle.
Their sense of gender can be affected by reading fairy tales 'Even so, Hall is not the first person to recognise that fairytales, with their centuries-old concerns and power structures, can be particularly problematic in shaping children’s sense of gender role and agency.
But young children are perfectly able to decide their gender for themselves and get appropriate clothing, unless they have read a fairytale when they will have been subjected to such powerful influences that they won't know where they are,

It's about as relevant as Bob Hope and Lucille Ball dressing up as hippies to comment on the generation gap in the 60s.
In other words - I'm all for it.
As much respect as Angela Lansbury (and her family - who did a lot of genuine work for the poor in Poplar) - may be due - this sort of thing comes across as grouchy 'get off my lawn' style complaining.shoutinghorse wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 4:26 amAngela Lansbury (whom I would have sworn was dead) has come out against the 'wimminz' and it's causing a meltdown with twitterfems :D

Sleeping Beauty passes out in her own vomit after the wicked witch, Harriet Hall, slips a mickey into SB's ninth IPA at the FairyTaleCon afterparty. A group of seven virgin neckbeards watch over her vigilantly, donating weekly to her Patreon and taking turns sleeping with her panties. One day, a knight in shining salary from Apple finds SB. He dismounts, kisses her puke-encrusted lips, awakening her. He lifts her up upon his steed, and they ride off to live in a condo in an upscale Bay Area community. He buys her a puppy, a surfboard, and some weed. They live happily ever until the Zoloft runs out. The End.
