No. Milton Friedman regarded tax cuts that weren't accompanied by spending cuts as not being true tax cuts at all because the difference would still have to be funded out of the general economic output and be as enervating to the economy as the tax cuts were stimulatory, with no benefit to economic growth. The number of upper and upper middle class people are not growing. The number of upper middle class is shrinking while the lower incomes are growing. The rich haven't grown in number, they have just gotten richer.

For sure Trump has many of these behaviors. Part of what bothers me is that psychology is supposed to determine if someone's behaviors are harming their desired lifestyle. Right? The first thing a good headshrinker does is ask a patient what they want... or what is not working for them. Trump's behaviors serve him pretty fucking well. These headshrinkers diagnosing him from afar should have their licenses revoked. Seriously. I suspect these quacks are doing more harm than good for their patients. Fire them all... YOU'RE FIRED!

And... you will notice... that he can make friends with the very same person he previously attacked. It is all part of his normal negotiating tactic. For example... he HATED Lindsey Graham... up until he loved him. I don't think this is thin skinned. Someone whose ego was really hurt by Lindsey Graham would never forgive him... but Trump practically started kissing him once he got some support.

Trump is an odd guy for sure, and I would not care to have a beer with him, but he's not insane.

I have been writing against the criminalization of political differences for decades, because it is dangerous to democracy. It is even more dangerous to pathologize or psychiatrize one's political opponents based on opposition to their politics. Using mental health professionals to pathologize political opponents was a common tactic used by the Soviet Union, China and apartheid South Africa against political dissidents. The American Psychological Association took a strong stand against the use of this weapon by tyrants. I was deeply involved in that condemnation, because I understood how dangerous it is to diagnose political opponents instead of responding to the merits or demerits of their political views.

No doubt that Trump has a few "warts". But seems many are losing sight of the lesser-of-two-evils principle, that he may precipitate a very necessary corrective, a decidedly necessary "draining of the swamp". I wonder whether those throwing stones at him think that, for examples, Title IX wouldn't still be in force, that ISIS - in Syria at least - would be more or less toast, that the stock exchange would be as robust, that #TransLoonies wouldn't be experiencing some serious push-back, that Islam would still be touted as the "Religion of Peace", that immigration would be under control. Etc., etc., etc.

But still moot though whether the cure will be worse than the disease or not ...

Is it likely that most presidents are psychologically normal? The amount of people trying to destroy you that you have to climb over to get the job.... The pressure of the role once you get the job.... You have to tell lies of all types while your every word is chewed over and discussed by people who are trying to bring you down. Most of them strike me as high functioning case studies for personality disorder.
