A sentencing in the Chicago hate crime where the black people tortured a disabled white youth. I have to wonder what the sentences would have been had the races been reversed.

But yeah, it totally was a clever scheme by Evil Hillary to entrap trump.Starting in 2014, Simpson and Veselnitskaya had both worked on the same side of the Prevezon case, in which the Justice Department accused the Cyprus-based Russian company of laundering hundreds of millions of dollars via New York real estate. Beginning in 2016, Simpson was working with a former British intelligence operative on another project — the Trump dossier.

… a lawyer for Fusion GPS said Fusion's work on the dossier was totally separate from its work on the Prevezon case. Levy said the firm was unaware of the Trump Tower meeting when it happened.
[….]
"No one from Fusion GPS had any idea Ms. Veselnitskaya would be meeting with anyone from the Trump campaign," attorney Josh Levy said. "Nor did anyone from Fusion GPS know she would be sharing anything she learned from either the company or the Prevezon matter with the Trump campaign.
[….]
She provided NBC News with a document she says she prepared for the Trump Tower meeting, in which Clinton was mentioned in reference to contributions from the Ziff brothers, whom she accused of evading Russian taxes. She believes that some of the money they reaped from doing that ended up supporting Clinton and the Democrats, and she wanted the Trump campaign to know that. In fact, the Ziff brothers, who have declined to comment, also donated to Republicans.
[….]
In an interview this week, she said she didn't think those two statements were contradictory because she didn't expect Clinton to be aware of the allegations against the donors.

SPLC in Retreat as Maajid Nawaz Delivers Crushing Victory Against Powerful NGO and they source it to this National Review item Southern Poverty Law Center Quietly Deleted List of ‘Anti-Muslim’ Extremists After Legal Threat
As usual, follow the link(s) for the complete article etc. etc. etc.The Southern Poverty Law Center has removed the “Field Guide to Anti-Muslim Extremists” from their website after attorneys for Maajid Nawaz, a practicing Muslim and prominent Islamic reformer, threatened legal action over his inclusion on the list.
The report, which had been active on the SPLC’s website since it was published in December 2016, was intended to serve as a resource for journalists to identify promoters of hateful propaganda; but it included a number of liberal reformers such as Nawaz, a former Islamic extremist who has since dedicated his life to combating the hateful ideology
...
Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Somali-born liberal feminist who fled her home country amid civil war and now works at the Hoover Institution, was also branded an “anti-Muslim extremist” by the SPLC.
...
The inclusion of Nawaz and Ali on the “anti-Muslim extremist field guide” was the subject of criticism by conservative commentators and prompted a petition on Change.org, which drew thousands of signatures.
The SPLC did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

I'm curious. What do you think about Inuit and Native American reserves in the United States and Canada? Or preserving Aboriginal culture in Australia? Should they be preserved? Would it be better if they completely integrated into their respective dominant cultures?Kirbmarc wrote: ↑Sat Apr 21, 2018 9:10 amI disagree, of course, that cultures and tradition "must" be protected from "contamination" from the Evil Liberals or the Evil Imported Cultures, because cultures "contaminate" each other all the time (this is why the SocJus "cultural appropriation" idea is bullshit) and evolved through time.

I've read that he is an absolute nightmare of a guest, insisting on bringing his own furniture and all manner of home comforts when staying over. There is a story doing the rounds that he was scheduled to visit some country house with the hosts having jumped through all the requisite hoops and canceled because he was enjoying his garden too much. Also read that he has been known to whine about getting the short end of the straw compared to filthy rich business types. He has a reputation for extravagance which the taxpayer ends up paying for. He'll fly somewhere with the whole entourage when Liz 2 would be content with a public train.shoutinghorse wrote: ↑Sun Apr 22, 2018 3:05 amHIGHLIGHTED: 'Fog' is the derogatory nickname Prince Charles gave Cpt Mark Phillips (Anne's 1st husband) I have never heard it being used against him before, on the contrary, although he is often thought of as an undoubted snob Charles also has a reputation of being very good company. Re: There are 2018 genders... and a bitch ain't one
I only know one Price Charles story. It goes back to Denmark in the early 80s, when he was doing an official visit to the Australian embassy. Back when Australia used to have embassies. There was an elevator that took you up. Inside, the elevator had a panel with instruction on what to do while in motion. Being Denmark, this panel was labeled "I Fahrt". Some enterprising Australian chap thought the best thing do to do was to put tape over the label to cover it up in case anyone was offended.
So, Charles gets into the elevator. The first thing he does is peel back the tape, loudly exclaims, "I see!", then covers it back up again.

In his latest Shermer 2 minute hate:
Here he basically admits that he's pining for vigilante, moral panic justice. No wonder he hates the term. You know, initially I was sympathetic to Allison Smith's side of the story, but since I've learned just how much A/S meetups were promiscuous fuckfests, I'm more inclined to believe that the most serious--really the only serious--allegation against Shermer was almost certainly one among many instances of booze, crossed wires and regret sex. This is becoming a vendetta style personal obsession with Myers worthy of a Victor Hugo novel. That I recall, ALL the other allegations against Shermer (informal allegations at that), were along the lines of "he looked at me funny", "he filled my wine glass", or "he scratched his balls".He has to back down, because if he followed through he’d find himself exposed in the court of public opinion.

There are plenty of stories about him and I suppose people will believe what they will at the end of the day, I just think a lot of it is made up. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the head of 'The Chas Windsor' fan club or anything and I agree his (and other senior Royals) treatment of Diana was appalling. However his philandering is a family trait and don't forget Diana's family are from high English nobility and they must have known what he was like but still, marrying into the royal family and all that. Diana was expected to lay back and think of England, kudos to her that she didn't maybe but I don't for one minute believe she didn't know what she was marrying into.ThreeFlangedJavis wrote: ↑ I tend to take pro Chuck stories with a pinch of salt because his people try to craft his image using PR firms and some of the reporters on the royal beat are real arse-licker toffs . Chucky is an idiot ( eg evangelist for homeopathy ) and far from mixing it as one of the lads, likes his luxuries....
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/ ... -tom-bowerAccording to Tom Bower’s Rebel Prince, published on Thursday by William Collins, Charles once “shrieked” and “trembled” at the sight of an unknown plastic substance covering his dinner, only to be told “It’s cling film, darling,” by Camilla. On another occasion, Bower claims the prince brought his own mattress, toilet seat, Kleenex Velvet toilet paper and two “landscapes of the Scottish Highlands” when visiting a friend in north-east England.
The biography also alleges that Charles took a trip on the royal train from Highgrove to Penrith to visit a pub, a journey that cost £18,916; at another time, the prince reportedly complained in his journal after flying Club Class to Hong Kong in a chartered British Airway plane: “It took me some time to realise … that this was not first class (!) although it puzzled me as to why the seat seemed so uncomfortable. Such is the end of Empire, I sighed to myself.”
Charles’ army of employees – Bowers claims that he has more than 120 staff – include three footmen to escort visitors to his office, “each responsible for a short segment of corridor”; four valets to help him change his clothes up to five times a day; four gardeners who “lie flat, nose down on a trailer” to hand pluck weeds, because of the prince’s hatred of pesticides; and “retired Indian servicemen … deployed to prowl through the undergrowth at night with torches and handpick slugs from the plants of leaves”. According to Bower, the prince has arrived at functions with his own pre-mixed martinis carried by a police officer, with an aide delivering a bag containing the food he would eat.

I have worked for five years for a rather large Oregon based company that specializes in sportswear. One item that consistently comes up in our annual 'why are we dysfunctional and we are really going to fix it this time' surveys/programs/training sessions/pep rallies is: Communications. Not timely and lacking actionable information. Again and again this comes up.
My wife has worked for the same firm for a bit under a year now. Very different department, but the same class of issues.
So here we are in 2018. The new flavor-of-the-year process improvement program is having a rolling two day start. Wife and I both have ours scheduled for the same two days. Different buildings and with different facilitators, but the same pop psychology that Will Fix Everything. We each thought we had a unique jaw dropping story when we got home. Turns out not so unique.
At one point we have breakout sessions to scribble down on poster board the top three changes that could improve the company. All six breakout groups from my department had some variant of 'use clear and concise communications' in their top three. All three of the wife's breakout groups also had the same. We come back together and the facilitator reveals each group's findings and briefly discusses them. In all nine cases, the facilitator literally scratched out the communications line.
Culturally fucking insensitive was the reason. Did you know that in some cultures, being direct and getting to the point is not preferred? These cultures place a high value on first making small talk or approaching an issue from an oblique angle. We need to remove our own cultural blinders and see how a call for actually addressing an issue in business communication could be considered gauche.
We're not sure if my group of introverted, machine loving IT geeks or her group of introverted, data loving accountants face palmed more.

Also, they'd likely have noticed the signs FARTKONTROL on the motorway before entering an elevator.
There's an India based website called FART (Fashion Art Rhythm . Technology)
Bet they thought they were being so cool.

And even a different F Art magazine from Denmark could have known better publishing in English. You can be pretentious but dont be a laughing stock

https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/ ...

Defending yourself from libel and slander is not a crime.
Let it go, PZ. You're not judge, jury and executioner.

Defend Europe appears to try and force the hands of countries to do the right thing. Pun intended. Certainly there was flow on by the Italians against NGO over-reach in the Med. Not sure what the specific point is here. So... I kinda like Lost in Space. It is really stupid... and reminds me of the old serials and old sci-fi stuff. I like stupid sci-fi so it is right up my alley. Just dumb entertainment that doesn't take itself seriously. I can watch for a few seasons... and then I will get tired of the dumb stuff.... like how mom doesn't think they should have guns because...well.... mom reasons... even thought they live on a unexplored planet... haha... No guns for you special forces Marine dad.

I'm not into country music, but I've always had a fondness for Shania Twain.
“‘Cunt’ is good, too. My friend said: ‘Say: “She’s a fucking cunt”’. That felt good to say. Those words were cathartic.”
I tell Twain that I feel bad naming her former friend in front of her. “Don’t say the name; you can say ‘cunt’.” She roars with laughter, then tells herself off. “That is so disrespectful! I’m having a laugh.”
