The incident happened at the “Rooseveltplaats” in Antwerp. According to Belgian newspaper HLN, the elderly man was drinking alcohol together with his son on the terrace of a Kebab shop. Because the owner of the place doesn’t sell alcohol, he approached the father and the son to tell them he disagreed with their behaviour.
So, because they don't drink alcohol (the backwards bastards), nobody can drink alcohol and if they catch you enjoying a pint, it's entirely acceptable to beat the living shit out of you. Seems like a perfectly moderate attitude.

Is the Australian character defined by what it is in opposition to? For instance, I re-watched Barry McKenzie a while ago - which was written by ex-pats (temporarily at least) - about Australians in London in the 60s/70s. Without the constant foil of the English - I'm not so sure their character would be so well defined. (And that' does not take into account all the normal decent Australians who were appropriately mortified that this aspect of their culture became a defining characteristic / stereotype).
As to the free stuff...how do other authors feel about those that just give it away?

Two possible reasons for the reduction in hate crime reports due to cameras:
(1) Less hate crime.
(2) Fewer false reports.
It's analogous to body cams on cops. Did body cams stop cops beating up black kids for no reason or did body cams make it less likely people would try it on with cops?

Too lazy to calculate. If whether you have short but fast rotor blades or long but slower will the tips be faster than the speed of sound on Mars (about 240 m/s) and will this reduce efficiency?

Balloons have the same problem: low atmospheric pressure.
You'd have to have a whopping big balloon just as you would to fly in the Earth's upper atmosphere.

If I remember correctly, the Martian atmosphere is roughly equivalent to Earth's at 50,000 feet, pretty damned thin but you can still get some lift. Add to that the fact that Mars' gravity is only 38% of Earth's any lift you do get will go a lot farther.
