So, after Burzum's recommendation, I've watched the first 4 episodes of The Boys.

It's gross, disgusting even, lots of gore, violence, sex, vulgar language, bad jokes.

In other words: I love it!

However, as they have white-washed (or Americanized - it amounts to the same thing) the identity of Wee Hughie from Scottish to American, there maybe something lost in translation going from comics to TV.

No references to 'The Broons' or 'Oor Wullie' for one.

Hmmm...maybe you'll know the answer to this: the latest Slipknot release is linked to "The Boys" and features clips throughout the video (below), is called "Solway Firth." The lyrics don't mention why the song has that title and I can't find anything online from interviews that might explain it. Having never read the comic/graphic novel, is there a connection between Hughie and Solway Firth? It's a very random name for a song by an American thrash band and it's been bugging me.

I was never very good, but when I played it, I can say that it has its moments. I can see how people who are very good can find it obsessive. It's a mix of intellect, greed and conquest, so it has all the elements for high entertainment. But it's all going on inside people's heads, so the entertainment value is nowhere near as obvious as video gaming.

That being said, I can say from experience that there's nothing more mortifying than having your ass wiped all over the board by a better player, so it's best to stay in your class.
