Seems like "out of her depth in a puddle" would probably fit her to a T. At least as a VP.
:-) Glad to hear it. Surprised you apparently hadn't run across the movie and clip before though it's rather old, but a classic in both cases:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_(1976_film)Network is a 1976 American satirical black comedy-drama film written by Paddy Chayefsky and directed by Sidney Lumet, about a fictional television network, UBS, and its struggle with poor ratings. ....
In 2000, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".[3][4] In 2002, it was inducted into the Producers Guild of America Hall of Fame as a film that has "set an enduring standard for American entertainment".[5] In 2005, the two Writers Guilds of America voted Chayefsky's script one of the 10 greatest screenplays in the history of cinema. ....
Sounds wise ... ;-)

That movie is eerily prescient regarding the situation, but missed how Homerized the US population would become.

From an outside perspective it has never been anywhere near this extreme, at least in my lifetime. I think 9/11 was the catalyst, or at least the excuse, for the phenomenon. Bush used it to stoke a permanent state of threat to justify an erosion of civil liberties and expansion of the surveillance state. Obama and Obiden accelerated the process using state power to designate internal opponents to it's agenda as enemies of the people. Media and big tech of course aligned with this for reasons we can speculate about so now you have a circumstance where the powerful align against anyone challenging the narrative. But how long had they gone without the state of threat? The Berlin Wall fell on 9th November 1989. The Twin Towers fell on 11th September 2001. 11 years, 10 months and 2 days. Barely a decade. Since Pearl Harbour, the US has been without a state of threat for 11 years, 10 months and 2 days.ThreeFlangedJavis wrote: ↑ From an outside perspective it has never been anywhere near this extreme, at least in my lifetime. Maybe try reading some anti-liberal authors? I am 60 years old and I read this argument 50 years ago. So... yeah. 50 years of being wrong. Last time I checked that was half a century. I'm hoping that history does not have to repeat itself and that Western liberalism is not on it's way out, but the American circumstance looks very much like an end of empire one. The critics are probably right in that liberalism contains the seeds of it's own destruction and it needs some illiberal and un-Kirbmarcy pragmatic form of self-protection to prevail. MMT is accelerating the death of the dollar and Biden is behaving in ways that presume the un-assailability of American power.
There was no credible competition 50 years ago. The explosion of the money supply is unprecedented. The West is filled with self-doubt and is being sold out by elites. The collapse of empire is the null hypothesis here and the signs are present.
That was a painful waste of my time. It did make me think though that “ethno-nationalism” is a tautological construct.
Someone is forgetting about the Soviet Union and China. but... I am just saying... there are racks of books from the 1970s describing the collapse of the US in a decade. Same in the 1980s... and 90s... all of these describing specific little reasons why "This time it will happen!" I am just not seeing it. Trouble is ahead... no doubt... but the video you posted has many of the same points written about a half century ago. Was that the same episode with Maajid Nawaz as a guest? I thought Maajid went overboard... upgrading Stephen Bandera to "a nazi", rather than mere 'nazi collaborator' (who joined forces with the nazis to kick the CCCP out of Ukraine/ then was sent to a Concentration Camp by the Nazis-- for attempting to maneuver Ukraine into independence-from-Hitler.ThreeFlangedJavis wrote: ↑ Carlson is questioning the sanctity of St Volodymyr again. No. I haven't seen the Nawaz episode. It's Carlson talking about the narrative spoiling habit Zelenskyy has of abusing his office to silence opposition.Service Dog wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 4:53 pmWas that the same episode with Maajid Nawaz as a guest? Maajid also deemed the swastika-brandishing contingent of the Ukrainian military & politics... to be "actual nazis" and "not neo-nazis"... which is strange and silly. Like... have they been in-hiding since WW2? No way. Maajid said those Ukrainian swastika-lovers are "as if" the US military had a batallion comprised of the KKK. 1. this is more true than Maajid intended-- since the KKK has been a wiped-out shell of a thing... for decades. And so a sudden KKK unit would NOT be a bunch of sheet-wearing recruits being sworn-in en masse. It would be... something else.
AND 2. It's pretty fucking weird for Maajid Nawad to be loosely calling people "KKK" and "Nazi" like he's the fucking SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER?!!!
(given his successful defamation lawsuit against the SPLC)
I'm not sure how that proves a point. I would argue that since cyclical empires are the norm it is you that is saying "this time it is different". I do not know if this is the end of the road but there are definite signs. For one thing there is a rising challenge from China which is not something the American Empire has ever seen before and it coincides with other pointers which are the usual indicators of an empire on it's way out. I do not want to be right but I fear that those in power are increasing the likelihood by projecting weakness, compromising the value of the currency and undermining values.John D wrote: ↑Haha... yeah... you proved my point.... you say "This time it is different!". Bit of local history. The Detroit zoo is pretty old. One of the main features of the park (first started in its current location in 1928) is the use of "invisible" barriers. The animals were kept in their enclosures by moats and walls. No fences where needed so you could view the animals without obstruction. This is a very common practice today, but it was not common in the 1930s. So... you can say to the lion...haha!
If you really cared at all you'd get in there and rough them up a bit every once in a while so that when they chase you off it feels like it means something.John D wrote: ↑Another odd experience. I figured out how a lion makes a challenge noise. Just from watching TV and observing at the zoo. It is a low grunting sound... a kind of "braw braw" in a very low register. By making this noise I can get any male lion to come toward me and growl or roar. I don't do it very often because I think they may not like it. On the other hand... maybe it is an event that makes their boring day more interesting. I don't know. Maybe I do them a bit of a service by getting them angry at me. Ultimately... they always successfully chase me off.
And sometimes all of those differences add up until a tipping point is reached. Chaos theory and all that - as Jeff Goldblum suggested in Jurrasic Park ...
🙂👍 But sad that I don't have enough words to do justice to that work of art ... 😉

Racist! Senator Booker is very saddened and disappointed by your white supremacist bigotry. It's because of people like you that America can't have nice progressive things. Hearings are not the appropriate venue to be asking disrespectful questions of the rightful next black female SC justice. What a shameful circus!Matt Cavanaugh wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 10:03 amTuesday was not a great day for Judge Jumanji Jackson Brown. She:
- Was unable to provide a definition of "a woman", saying "I don't know -- I'm not a biologist";
- After claiming that CRT was not a factor in her rulings, was reminded of her 2015 speech in which she name CRT as one factor she considers in her rulings;
- After claiming CRT was not taught in K-12 schools, was presented with evidence that the private grade school on whose board she serves of openly teaches CRT. To which she blurted out, "I meant public schools";
- Was unable to explain why she told a hardened drug "kingpin" convicted of possession of 2 kilo of heroin/fent, and running a meth lab in his kids' bedroom, "I share your frustration" that she had to give him the 20 year mandatory sentence because "I believe in second chances";
- Had no explanation for why every time a convicted pedo came before her, she gave the lightest sentence possible;
- Was mute when confronted with her public statements that most pedos aren't really pedos, just 'collectors';
- Had to pretend she'd never heard of judge Janice Rogers Brown, who was on the fast-track to becoming the first black female SC justice, until none other than Joe Biden filibustered for two years her nomination to the U.S. Court of Appeals.
WTF was that? Is Nick Fuentes part of the GOP? Seeing as he got kicked out when he crashed CPAC, I think not. Do you think maybe they're deliberately inverting the gist of Trump's Putin comment? Are you just trolling now or do you think there's some point to posting Lincoln Project style slime?

No. MAGA or MAGAt is a follower of the populist screwball Trump. Real conservatives don't like Trump and are called Never Trumpers if they speak their mind about Trump or they are cowards that placating the Trump crowd for now and just hope they will fade away.Is MAGA a general term for associating all conservatives with the far right?
