I wondered about that myself sometime back and had sort of figured something out that worked with Windows XP and had asked a question here to clarify; several other posters offered some further suggestions for different operating systems and browsers. Those comments might provide you with enough information to get started. And generally using the Preview function to see how others format their posts helps as well ….

I've been using a little freeware tool called Screen Grab Pro for several years now. Works on any Windows OS from 95 to 8.

They sit in the House of Lords, which is a sort of oversight talking shop. Actual policy is made by the Lower House with elected MPs. They are still party political, but less so than the Lower House. It's not ideal, but does circumvent some of the pointless bickering associated with elected officials.

well yes, the problem with it is one of ideology - truth of the matter though is that it actually serves its purpose pretty well.
Having an unwritten constitution you have to be very wary when fiddling with what works - at least he bits which have been shown to work.
Im sure there could be reasonable ways to allow female CofE representation if they chose, but it seems the house is doomed to becoming an entirely elected house anyways - I think thats a shame

The Hamas charter of '88 is a whopper and contains much lunacy, but most likely due to the fact it was co-written by the Muslim Brotherhood. However, since 2006 (when Hamas won the Palestinian legislative election), Hamas has not used the charter (or Hamas Covenant as it's called) and has made moves to give it a wide berth. Whether they've done this as an act of genuine regret, though, or simply to use a ploy to further their agenda is up for scepticism.

However, if Hamas has gained access to actual missiles (courtesy of Iran) and not just homemade rockets which only serves as glorified paperweights with uncertain trajectory (so bad some of them even missed the mark completely and actually landed in Gaza territory, which cost the life of a four-year old boy), then we're about to see some serious shit. And by serious shit, I mean mass murder, from both sides. The amount of bloodshed would be tremendous, so I hope whoever gets sent out to talk some sense into these people brings his (or her) fucking A-game.

Not quite sure what you’re referring there to about Townsend; all (?) I see in Wikipedia that might be relevent is that Townsend “had used a credit card to register with a website advertising child pornography” but that he had claimed that was only for “research purposes”. And not quite sure what Oolon is supposed to have done IRC or on Twitter that might be considered equivalent.

But I was referring to his supposed “crimes” here that at least before did not seem that particularly odious. Although even for me the other shoe has dropped as his further comments don’t leave much “wiggle room” relative to the charge of trolling – little to support the argument that he’s not arguing in bad faith.

Which is somewhat unfortunate as I think he made or at least suggested some reasonable points about the nature of privilege in that AtheismPlus thread, “hard to insult a white person”. As the OP suggested, “ghost man”, “cracker”, “honky”, even “fish belly” don’t have the same impact as “nigger” or “faggot” or “cunt”, largely – or at least presumably or hypothetically – because whites or white males are frequently or generally at the top of the food chain or with the most privilege.

Interesting phenomenon how the size and power of the group one is a member of tends to influence, for good or ill, the power or autonomy of the individual. Identity and identity politics seems to be a tricky and complicated process – one might argue or suggest that individuality is somewhat of a luxury afforded by the power and privilege of being a member of a powerful group; those not possessing such have to rely more on identification with the group itself that they are members of so that an insult to one is an insult to all.

Pitchguest, you are looking at the current capability of Hamas, probably underestimating it, without acknowledging the whole picture. Whoever is historically right, and that's a minefield, the conflict has been going on for a long time and the Israelis have learnt one thing. That is that concession results in bloodshed. The Palestinians have been firing rockets, planting bombs on buses, suicide bombing supermarkets, firing mortars, sniping and all manner of shit for a long time. I know people who have been on the receiving end of Palestinian rockets and I have a new-found respect for paperweights. Apparently they can eviscerate people. It is true that the majority of their current artillery is unsophisticated, but that is ONLY because the Israelis have been very aggressive in eliminating their weapons. The Israelis keep asking the Palestinian Authority to stop the attacks and they never do. What else can they do but eliminate the perpetrators themselves, and there is no neat way of doing that. You just can't sit back and watch your citizens blown to pieces, which is what happens when they back off, because it would be unfair to retaliate.

The "glorified paperweight" bit would seem to imply that Qassam rockets are simply kinetic devices with no active warhead. This did not jibe with the pictures I've seen of the damage they inflict so I did a little research on the subject, and everything I found says that this is incorrect.

Qassam rockets consist of a steel cylinder with some fins, base plate, and nozzle(s) attached with spot welds. The propellant is a mixture of sugar and potassium nitrate. They do not spin so they are extremely inaccurate. (Although this may actually make then more difficult to shoot down.) They do, however, contain a warhead, which consists of either TNT or urea nitrate. There are various models with various different sizes of warheads, but the minimum seems to be about a pound of explosive. Some sources say the warheads contain shrapnel while others don't mention it. The warhead is fused with some sort of contraption made from a cartridge. Since some photos show the rockets being recovered intact I suspect the fusing isn't terribly reliable. (TNT may well go off from impact alone but urea nitrate is unlikely do so.)

And regarding the danger presented to people in Gaza, yes, there's a risk of the things coming back down there, but according to Wikipedia there have been 50+ people injured when explosive supplies for these things exploded and in another instance one child was killed and five people wounded when they objected to the launcher being set up near their home.

And FWIW, my prediction is that how this goes is going to depend on whether or not some sort of truce can be brokered before a rocket (the type is irrelevant) makes it past Iron Dome and lands in a populated part of Tel Aviv. If that happens I think a very nasty ground invasion is nearly inevitable and a lot of people are going to end up dead.

They have not got "less crazy". They have gotten better at PR now that they are supposed to be politically "legitimate".

What this debate over Israeli retaliation reminds me of is the public outrage when police respond aggressively to angry mobs throwing rocks, iron railings and petrol bombs. Those things kill and the cops have every right to respond with extreme force. Do you think poor plod on the front line gives a shit about power imbalances when doused in burning petrol?

So I just tried to post a link to my blog about how I have a Nexus 4 and its pretty and I dunno what to do with it.

And I got this:

An entry on the blacklist may have several reasons:
1. You are a well-known spammer.

3. Your ISP is well-known for a lot of spamming customers and is not fighting against spammers enough.

I use some real-time block lists to prevent spammers posting, and today I changed the settings to check posts from registered users as well. It works, and this is a genuine warning that scienceblogs.com is hosting a spammer somewhere.

I know it works because I was blocked from posting from my work address: the block lists reported that the external gateway my company uses was making outbound calls to several botnet command-and-control hosts. I immediately cut a ticket to our intrusion detection team, and sure enough, we found 12 malware-infected hosts.

Now, I can turn this off for registered users, but I'm a bit loath to do so, since it was very helpful for our security team in identifying the infected machines. You might want to reach out to the admins at NatGeo to let them know that scienceblogs.com is sending out spam,

I've had this shit before too. It is over enthusiastic. You need to delist yourself via the removal links, or make a global request -

Actually, if you want, Abbie, I can turn off link checking (as opposed to checking the IP being posted from), but again, that means that some real warnings like this will be missed.

I've turned this off, so you shouldn't see any more warnings of this sort.
