It's in the cards...
Based on the comic series of the same name - so if they keep the ending, I'd be happy.
Ouch! Right in the childhood...
Hmmm...maybe you'll know the answer to this: the latest Slipknot release is linked to "The Boys" and features clips throughout the video (below), is called "Solway Firth." The lyrics don't mention why the song has that title and I can't find anything online from interviews that might explain it. Having never read the comic/graphic novel, is there a connection between Hughie and Solway Firth? It's a very random name for a song by an American thrash band and it's been bugging me.MarcusAu wrote: ↑ One of the great contributions Scotland has made to world culture.
I'm amazed that Frank Quitely (although quite frankly that may not be the name he was born with) - managed to make a fortune out of re-purposing this art style to portray Batman, Superman & the X-Men in American comics.

Much like Dave Sim did with Grandma from the Giles cartoons I suppose.
I see what you (he) did there... ;)
Hmmm...I'll need to wait until more info is released.MarcusAu wrote: ↑ No obvious connection that I can think of.
Solway Firth is near the Scottish-English border.
In the comics Hughie is from the small highland town of Auchterladle. Which looks like something off of a tin of shortbread they would sell to tourists. (Garth Ennis is not always the most subtle of writers).
Returning to the title of Slipknot's latest song - it appears that the track might be named after this infamous photograph:

The online theories seem to make sense but I'm still looking for confirmation. Bloody annoying...
An avalanche that selectively irradiates one person and removes eyes and tongues? Don't listen to Phil, Matt, he's clearly one of them.
Have you considered getting it printed on one of these?

Gaming--sorry "esport"--reminds me of chess. I always thought chess was gender segregated, some kind of holdover from sexist days of yore, but it's not. It's just that women comprise single digit percentages of competitors. There are women-only tournaments, meant to encourage female participation, just as I hear there are for esport. But, the numbers are still miserable, and what's more, nobody seems to know why. Are men's brains just better at doing chess? Are women being hounded out of chess by sexist players? Or maybe women just don't like chess as much as men (my guess).Bhurzum wrote: ↑ I had written a monster "Fisking" post* about the following but decided against it. You'd think #GamerGate never happened.
* I actually shocked myself at how sweary, ignorant and poorly written it was.
Exceptional work.

Two chess grandmasters playing a game and trash-talking each other after each move?
IMO it's not boring to play but it sure as shit is boring to watch other people do it. Trash talking does not improve the appeal.Matt Cavanaugh wrote: ↑ Chess is stupid and boring. Discuss.

I was never very good, but when I played it, I can say that it has its moments. I can see how people who are very good can find it obsessive. It's a mix of intellect, greed and conquest, so it has all the elements for high entertainment. But it's all going on inside people's heads, so the entertainment value is nowhere near as obvious as video gaming.Matt Cavanaugh wrote: ↑ Chess is stupid and boring. Discuss.
