No offense meant to either you or your donor, but that seems like an extraordinarily large amount for something like this, and IMO would be much better spent in Oklahoma than Dublin. Also: wouldn't it be better for your own PR, atheism PR in general, and society, if you were to skip the conference altogether and go help tornado victims instead?
It's your time, and their money, and you all can do whatever you want with it, it just seems like a waste to me.
I 100% agree with Metalogic42 here.
Once was fine, to make a point against the #FTBullies, at WiS2. But really, what did you do there that was so productive? What real insight was gained from your tweets and blog posts? What the hell would sending you to Dublin accomplish, other than "Hey, I got away with WiS2 and was only contemptuously ignored, so now I'm going to more women's conferences and there's nothing those women can do about it! Ha ha!" It wouldn't be about the Dublin conference, it would be about The Justin Vacula Show. No. Just no.
This seems seriously pointless and somewhat stalker-ish to me. And it makes you look like the self-involved narcissist that people on both sides of the schism have accused you of being.
There are MUCH better things you could do with the funds you have received, things that actually involve SOCAS or humanitarian causes.
You begging for large amounts of cash so you can be a gadfly and non-factor in yet another women's conference produces the exact same revulsion in me as when I read that Greta Christina had bought those fugly Fluevogs with that "cancer" money she begged from her readers.
For once, Justin, would you THINK instead of impulsive making these ill-considered leaps of illogic?
