Re: Periodic Table of Swearing

Thanks tea drinkers! :) I think I tried lapsang sou chong once and didnt like it, but I may give it another go and I'll see if I can find the others. I've mostly been drinking what my partner prefers which is usually a rooibos tea or raspberry quince black tea. Right now I have an old fashioned kett...

Re: Periodic Table of Swearing

No worries JR :)

Grats to J"F"V! :D

Tea Drinkers: what tea is the best? There is a large array of fruity and herbal and black teas. I have yet to find a black tea that wakes me up the way soda does.

Re: Periodic Table of Swearing

I don't mean to say that she didn't do anything, just that my father did far more. Also I think she had reason for being that way, but my father did pick up the slack. I don't know how appreciative she was of him, that's not really my business, but she did at one point accuse him of molesting us (h...

Re: Periodic Table of Swearing

That father's post actually reminded me of my own parents. I was too young to remember how it was when I was born, but when my younger sibling was growing up my mother had PPD and my father basically took care of all of us. When she went back to work her hours were long and she'd sleep when she got...

Re: Videogames

I think we can happily (or grumpily) agree that things were better in the old days. Never played much MoO, but I have vague memories of it being fun. I have tried liking all these new-fangled games, and while there is the occasional gem I think I have to accept that what I really like is what I was...

Re: Periodic Table of Swearing

I'd like to respond to an older crommunist post about how people reacted negatively to him because he was black. In the post (IIRC) he was going door to door for a survey and he said that people reacted better if he stood back. The implication was that if he had no problem making allowances for othe...

Re: Videogames

I recently received Endless Space as a birthday present. I haven't gotten to play it yet. Anyone else a fan of the genre or know about that iteration in particular? *raises hand* Yo. I bought it when it released. Quite like it, though I found the combat a bit frustrating after a while. I tended to ...

Re: Periodic Table of Swearing

I remember that comic too SN :? I have had experiences with people who behave as though their own emotions change reality. For example someone whose account of an act of intercourse changes between consensual sex to an act of rape depending on the mood they are in when asked. I think some fraction o...

Re: Jean Kazez

It seems like people are falling to the poisoning the well fallacy. They remember that we are "misogynists" or "MRA/PUA scum" etc. but when they realize PZM et al aren't to be taken at their word they don't remember why they think so poorly of us. They don't remember that their opinion of us was giv...

Re: Periodic Table of Swearing

Phil I am sorry for your loss. I'm sorry this is so late, I would have said something earlier but when I tried to think of something thoughtful to say it always sounded hollow. It might interest you to know that when my grandfather died my father didn't have an emotional response until almost a year...

Re: Periodic Table of Swearing

The FtBs lot seem to have a lot of 'evidence' of your iniquity as well - actual things said and done by members of your 'community'. Is your evidence better because of its volume? Is their evidence better because of its extreme nature? I'm curious what evidence you are referring to here. What evide...

Re: Periodic Table of Swearing

Oolon's first post on the slymepit was August 28th on page 98 of this thread. Note that the oolon impersonator was active on the 27th. Oolon was responding to a post by Tigzy about how the impersonator was NOT the real oolon: "Given you lot spotted it was not me... I have to apologise for using the ...

ERV, that was my recollection too. If I wasn't on my phone and too lazy I'd go back and find quotes/links.

I remember that oolon asked what our issues with FtB might be and I think I answered honestly and without rancour. It's a subjective memory though so I might go check to be sure.

PZM: "If people don’t criticize bigotry, if they go silent at bullying and threats, then they don’t get harassed either. Why, if we’d just learn to tolerate the intolerant, we could all go on pretending to be happy and cooperative. Oh, wait. I’d rather not. spacklick, you’re a dishonest as...

Re: Why I am still an Atheist

I think it's a slightly amusing story so let me tell you how I stopped believing in hell. For background you should know that I was raised by parents who were vaguely christian, they read to me from the bible, but we hadn't been going to any church. I was 6 or maybe younger when I came to the realiz...
