It's a lot more than that but it varies. She has to make sure the venue is sorted, everyone is happy with their deals, maps supplied, questions answered, deal with last minute changes, numerous things. I can imagine someone getting overwhelmed by it. That's why regular speakers and venues are preferred as they will be low maintenance as they know the ropes. However, wherever you book there will be someone there to manage a lot of it for them

(sound for venue, seating arrangements, projectors, booking hotels, timings etc). So she won't be doing it alone.

It's not for someone who can't remain calm or who overreacts.

I recently read up on Narcissism and their behaviour was very similar (especially A+ but some in FtB) In fact it was striking. However we are all Narcissistic to some degree and I have no training whatsoever in the matter. StatsCan is not a trustworthy source in my opinion. I've been fighting with them over the census for a long time. It appears by the questions that everyone must legally answer, that if you have had sex with anyone you live with, you must tell them, including the person's name and whether it was gay or straight sex. I asked StatsCan if that was the definition of their questions, and their responses were as evasive as any radfem or politician would be. My case number was never resolved, and I shared it with anyone else who wants to let their local census worker know the reference number of why they've not yet been able to send in their forms. Scrapping the long form being mandatory was one of the few good things Harper's ever done. The left however, especially the NDP, wanted to bring the mandatory long form back again, along with even more mandatory personal information questions for everyone. The only part of a census that should be mandatory is the number of people living at that address and (maybe) also names. Not one's income, religious views, ancestral nationality/race, sexual activity and orientation, etc. Those should never be mandatory. Languages learned as a child (one of the ways one is forced to reveal one's family's nationality) is only a part of it. Well, maybe a big part, since the census was used in WW2 to find everyone with Japanese ancestry (even if they were born and raised in the US) and put them into concentration camps in Canada and the US.

Who's to say that a future right wing gov't won't round up all the non-xtians, or all the non-heterosexuals, or even all the unmarried people who have sex (must be revealed on the census), or all the people of [whichever] race/nationality? It's not like it hasn't been done before.

Whenever these ever inconsistent statistics are brought out I always have to wonder what criteria was used to determine rape or sexual assault. Some feminists consider junior highschool bra snapping to be sexual assault. I remember one woman describing as a sexual assault an incident wherein a stranger put his hand on her knee at a cinema. Now any unwelcome touch can be considered battery, is unpleasant, and shouldn't happen, but it's an insult to people who have suffered through actual attacks, and inflating the number of incidences by so broadening the definition as to render the term practically meaningless is deceptive.

I think they do it to steal the victim cred of real victims. They want to outdo each other in what horrible patriarchal sexual-based harms they've experienced, so a bra snap becomes as bad as a violent rape. Being called a cunt by someone on the internet becomes as bad as a violent rape. Being told on the internet that you deserve to have a [anything but a porcupine or rusty knife] shoved up you becomes as bad as a violent rape. Every glance from male strangers becomes as bad as a violent rape. And of course, every polite invitation to coffee/sex with no harassment and total acceptance of the answer "no" becomes as bad as a violent rape. Real victims be damned, the feminists are going to steal the attention and sympathy from them.

I think it's better put that it's not the goals that people are against, but against the details/specifics of their beliefs/model and how they enforce and express them.

The big problem with them, and it's why I feel, to be honest an egalitarian train, so to speak is going to tear a massive chunk off their movement eventually, is that they don't acknowledge any sort of criticism as being legitimate. So instead of improving their models and improving their communications techniques, they double down and triple down and quadruple down on the bad stuff. And eventually once people who share the same nominal goal realize that there are other groups, other movements in place that one can go to if they have those particular goals, but with more developed theories/models and without the bigoted baggage.

They want to treat these issues as they are written in stone. As if they were canon, so to speak. And we all have to write a test on the canon and score 100%. It's pointless wanking, to be honest.

But on the point above, Decius has been fighting the good fight with Novella, as an example. There's an example of a person (Novella) that eventually is going to realize that the SJW brand of feminism isn't the only game in town, and that one can have a different label on them and STILL care about perceived issues that yes, affect mainly women.

If she worked for me and was slagging off another employee in public for the quality of his work and the appropriateness of his ideas, I'd haul her into the office and ask her how she thought that was benefitting the organisation. I'd remind her that she answered to me, not some mob of idiots on the internet and that if you had issues with the hiring policies, you come to me first instead of airing them in public. If not, I'd consider that she was trying an end run around me and, if that was the game, I'd also point out that her own emplyment depended on those very hiring policies, but they could always be "amended".

I think the hysteria coming out of the so-called "feminist" camp is because they cannot believe that there are people who not only flat out reject what they have to say, but they aren't going to politely roll over and keep the peace for the sake of pleasant dinner party conversation. How much planning do these conferences require once you have people booked? I would have thought it was book somewhere, get speakers, profit.

Ah yeah, I remember a troll pitching a fit because I wrote a piece that, for brevity’s sake, rolled up attempted and completed rapes into the general category of men raping women. Apparently, there is no greater injustice than labeling a man a rapist because tried to rape someone but failed because his victim successfully fought off penetration, though obviously not violation. I’m unclear what the issue was. Perhaps the fear was that the exclusive club of rapists would be dirtied by having to admit men who aren’t successful at subduing their victims.

Just kidding! I know that what’s going on is that the knee-jerk desire to minimize any violence against women turns misogynists into blithering idiots, arguing about the numbers of angels dancing on a head of a pin while women continue to be violated in a myriad of ways every minute of the day, all of them terrifying and painful for the victims.

It sounds like Marcotte thinks that the only men who didn't rape anybody just aren't very good at it.

This line of reasoning has become a common theme:
"STOP MINIMISING RAPES by saying that a boob grab isn't rape!"

By applying the word to things that aren't as horrible as the actual thing, YOU are minimising the actual crime.

It's like calling all pub fights "murders".

The murder rate has skyrocketed this year, because we changed what the word meant to apply to fucking everything.

These bloggers aren't real people. Someone has coded a piece of software with basic personality attributes to churn out occasional blog posts. It has basic attributes like "professional victim", "vaguely feminist" and "outraged" and then pops out a post every day or so. I wouldn't use the word hysteria, but otherwise yes. Feminism has had a free pass from criticism for over a generation mostly it seems because it's been a trojan horse. The guise of it being about "equal rights" is and has been used to denounce and defame some of those who looked carefully enough behind that reasonable platitude to find that despite that claim, it is a hotbed of emotional drama, revisionist nonsense, conspiratorial thinking, androphobia and occassional misandry.

People have actually been silenced, lost jobs, publicly humiliated and reviled because the most of the general public think it is about equality, when any cursory glance at the behaviour and literature of many Feminists proves the opposite.

As far back as the mid-nineties I recall women rejecting the label (commonly differentiating between women's rights and cultural deconstuction) who were maligned, journalists who's editors would not publish articles, teachers and lecturers who voiced concerns were fired. They got away with it because as I say the common consideration is that it is about rights not about wants.

It is interesting to see how inadequate they are when it comes to defending their position. They have nothing but insults and claims of "straw-feminism" but never get round to actually explaining why such criticisms are not valid.
