Anyway this Orbit thing. I do hope it lasts a long time as FtB was starting to run short on laughs and Atheism Plus dies ages ago.

But, they never learn do they? Their search for purity, brittle narcissistic personalities, addiction to social signalling, the thrill of back stabbing and self righteous bigotry is likely to make them implode sooner or later. I just hope it is later. Carrier's support is a death warrant too. Same goes for Shive's support. Not a good sign.

The only issue I have now is trying to spot a troll from a genuine poster. The only guide that has any reliability is the more bat shit insane a post sounds the more likely it is to be genuine.

It's typically, but not always, when I've got my proxy turned on.
That is always due to using a proxy. I have no explanation for when it's not, unless you live in Russia and your local network is being used to run proxy servers (I know nothing about how this works, as is probably obvious).

Question about Wu. I know she has that one game. Is that it? Has she ever done anything before either on her own or with a large company?
No that's it. Her parents (his parents? not sure how she identified back then) gave her 200k to start her own company and she's basically done fuckall since that time. She has the one game, which doesn't even reach the lofty goal of being considered shit, because that would imply it's generally known in gaming fandom (it's not, Gamergate is the only reason anyone has ever heard of her title). Like a lot of SJWs she's a privileged upper class piece of shit who wants to claim some victim points because it takes away the sting of being less than mediocre.

That is absolutely 100% it. Wu got seed money from her parents. She hired developers to code for her. The artwork style is obviously hers from her college comic days.

And her current work involves porting this same game from the iPhone to the PC.

This is her entire career in game development.

That said, I don't blame wu for trying, and not every effort will be a success. But I am kind of surprised that wu is continuing to port this same flop of a game over to PC.

I think the real money is in using wu's "developer" victim credentials for patreon bucks, kickstarters, speaking fees.

If wu was a real developer/game designer/small business owner, she would not be throwing good money after bad. And she would start working on another game that might show more promise.

From what I have seen her game got decent reviews at the time of release and won some awards.

I mean it looks like crap to me.

That is a problem with "games journalism." Your reviews are more based on who you know and how much money you are willing to spend.

There is a huge disconnect between the magazine review ratings and the user base review ratings.

I was never much of a World War I buff...and only knew/heard about the basics...dates, a few battles, the 4th installment of Black Adder...
But heard Dan Carlin's multipart podcast about WWI...mainly just the Western Front. Was excellent and it really made me want to learn more.

It is the "Blueprint for Armageddon" series...but these are all good.

I like Dan as really entertaining pub history. His account of the German march into Belgium was pretty cool and he poses questions that don't generally get posed. Like just how the fuck would it work spending all day hacking trapped Romans to death at Cannae, could you stay sane and how would that how played out in the cable television age ..

A couple of questions I have after reading the "About" page from this new writer from The Orbit:

What's an "asexual spectrum"?

What the fuck is a "womanist"?

Is "clinic escort" a real profession?

Is this real life?

So to begin with, this lady says she's on the "asexual spectrum." Now apart from a few articles in the Huffington Post (by the same author), a blog post by someone whom refer to s/h/itself as a "social justice mage (actually)", a Wikipedia page that heavily cites the articles in the Huffington Post, there doesn't seem to be anything substantial to properly explain what it means to be on the "asexual spectrum" so therefore I'm supposing it's either made up or not supported by the scientific community. Asexual I do understand, but "asexual spectrum" sounds like nonsense to me. Especially when the Wikipedia page on it (grey asexuality) says those who are on the "spectrum", as it were, "experience sexual attraction very rarely, only under specific circumstances, or of an intensity so low that it’s ignorable."

Here. Sure way of telling if you're asexual or not. If you're not attracted to either men or women, and if you don't have any sexual drive whatsoever, you're asexual. If you do have an attraction to either men or women or both, and if you do have sexual urges (but only under specific circumstances), you're not asexual. Easy! Then again, her "About" page also says she's in her mid 30's. Thinking that might be related. Moving on.

"Feminist with womanist leanings." ... A feminist... with womanist... leanings. ... Nevermind. I'll look this up myself.

So... according to Wikipedia... (snicker) ... womanism (snicker) ... is "a social theory deeply rooted in the racial and gender-based oppression of black women." Oh. Ohhh. Wait. What?

"Clinic escort" is not a real profession (thank the stars), but it's a volunteer position for people helping out at abortion clinics. Okay. Fair enough. I don't have a problem with that, but she also says she's a "Reproductive Justice Activist" and I just... I throw my hands up in despair and wonder if these people were grown in a vat or something. What is with FTB et al and their affinity attracting complete lunatics?

It all makes sense if you think to FTB as the Catholic Church (theoretically more inclusive, clearly lead by one figure) and to the Orbit as the Evangelical Protestants (moral absolutist, with no clear leader).

The point was a schism between the run-of-the-mill SJWs (PZ, Carrier) who don't care so much about "inbuilt ableism" and aren't 100% convinced that trans women are 100% women and the radical SJWs (Alex Gabriel, Zvan, Lousy, Miri, the rest of the bunch, now also Greta Christina) who are committing themselves to the cause of fighting ableism and to the complete, unquestionable womanhood of trans women since birth.

The Orbit has adopted the Atheism Plus dogmas: they believe that ableist words lead to murder and genocide and that transwomen have and always had been women, period (and were only "assigned male at birth"). These dogmas cannot be questioned. PZ is more "moderate" on these issues, so he's a heretic, although he's also too useful to directly attack (for now).

PZ has frequently used ableist language and doesn't show any sign that he's going to stop. He also didn't side against Ophelia Benson when Benson was suspected of being TERF-friendly. Gabriel and Lousy were two of Benson's most vocal critics and they didn't like PZ' fence-sitting attitude.

Ah, yes, of course. If I didn't know whether she disliked dissent or not before I made my comment on her blog, I should've just checked her "About" page first.
You may have noticed that I’m quick with a block button. That is because there are many, many places where people can go and discuss and argue and the like. This is not one of those places. These are my thoughts and my views, and if you don’t like them, you can go elsewhere. If you can’t figure that out for yourself, I will happily show you the door.
Indeed. Makes perfect sense why this person would join a site meant for sceptics. Or, er, "sceptics."

The finer points of SJW doctrine may look ridiculous to us, but they're meaningful to them.

The difference between the Catholic dogma of transubstantiation and the "pneumatic presence" of the Presbyterian churches looks meaningless to an atheist, but it's meaningful enough to the believers to cause excommunications and schisms.

In case anyone missed it Nugent has a post up titled Why do some people feel entitled to casually defame others online?
I am returning here to the defamatory smears made about me last month by Aoife Fitzgibbon O’Riordan, who alleged that I was using dog-whistle homophobia to defend dog-whistle misogyny, and Aidan Rowe, who alleged that I support trans-misogynistic hate speech. I again ask them to withdraw and apologise for these smears.

This is part of a growing sense of entitlement to casually defame people online, by calling them racist, misogynistic, homophobic, fascist, etc., based on your own personal prejudice about that person’s beliefs. A good example is the American shock-blogger PZ Myers, some of whose satellites have this week escaped his orbit to found their own network.

It's a symbiotic relationship. We get lulz, and they get to pretend that they have an audience.
If a couple of Pit clicks keeps them off the street, that would be just fine. Because the heavens forbid they try to get on the job market...

It really is. Her doubling down in her follow-up is an exercise of mind-boggling inanity.

She supposedly described events with almost perfect recall, quotes and all, but when she's shown to be outright lying she tries to excuse it by saying she "did not remember all the details."

She still claims she screamed, audibly, "NO!" when he "barged in" to his own hotel room which she and another had occupied as a dressing room, when the video shows that to be a falsehood.

She says he's "lucky" (her scare quotes, not mine) that he "didn't remember all the details, either" when he found a video of the incident, as he had initially claimed he didn't have a camera. To his friends and allies, she says, this video "saved him." (Again, her scare quotes, not mine.) Yes, it's too bad he DID have a camera and videotaped the event, isn't it, you two-faced, vindictive bitch?

But the cake, the absolute cake-winner, of it all is: she's upset the guy she accused of being a sexual deviant took legal action against her. What an asshole. Tries to get him discredited as a photographer and possibly ruin his career, but heaven forbid if he tries to defend himself and clear his name, even litigiously if need be. The fucking nerve. :naughty:

Kid burglarizes a home, woman fatally shoots him coming out a window. His family is angry.

At some point oh about NOW Nugent should have the decency to say: "Slymepit, I don't like the cut of your jib but holy Mary mother of Christ you were right about these bastards right back in 2011 when ERV posted her first proto-post 'bad form Rebecca Watson'

Sorry it took me so long to cotton on, and it required attacks on me mate Dawko to see the light."

The way he is carrying on you'd think he'd had the road to Damascus moment.

No such thing. There's 'asexual' and people with low sex drive.
What the fuck is a "womanist"?

"Feminist with womanist leanings." ... A feminist... with womanist... leanings. ... Nevermind. I'll look this up myself.

So... according to Wikipedia... (snicker) ... womanism (snicker) ... is "a social theory deeply rooted in the racial and gender-based oppression of black women." Oh. Ohhh. Wait. What?
IIRC, Alice The Color Purple Walker is a womanist. It's feminism + woo.

Just tried to explain to my (young) 15 yo daughter the difference between homophobia and being wary of the SJ feminist agenda and being able to spot red flags.

I failed.

It was all a bit OTT.

I think they think "I know gay people at school, I want school education on this"

And I say "the simple fact is no one should feel bad or be made to feel bad about their sexuality - but go beyond that and it's subjective politics, agendas and slippery slopes. That's why schools have to treat a very careful path. Look here for instance at Danielle (shows photo) .......

He's had it, but I don't think we should feel entitled to any recognition in this matter. We probably only accelerated the realization, but I'm pretty sure it would have come to this at some other point in time, if only a bit later.

The SJW Feminist agenda is best shown when women attack young people or people who are clearly unable to cope with that level of aggression. At the end of the day no one should give a fuck about Muscato or whatever the fuck she's up to but they should give a fuck that Muscato shit on an autistic kid she was meant to be doing PR for.

You undermine SJWs by exposing their violence and their hypocrisy. Everything else is caring about random people's lives more than you actually need to.
