He mentioned on FTB that he has a daughter. I really feel sorry for her.
Yea I wonder if he fucks with her just for kicks....It's really too bad he gives the perception that he might and doesn't even care

By the way, Melody's out of her shell and actually conversing with people for a change. Well, maybe 'conversing' is giving her too much credit.
Yeah, Melody is complaining about the "misogynist cyber mob".

And that right there is why I don't comment on FTB or engage in direct conversation with these people. What an enormous waste of time.

Although, Pitchguest, it's entertaining to watch someone else do it.

I'd be surprised if he has had sex let alone brought up a daughter. With the sheer amount of contradictory shit he types on a daily basis I can't believe a single thing he claims. If Oolon said water is wet I'd go and check for myself.

She's pretty much done with her version of conversing, since hate mail is harassment and you apparently don't know that. I have to wonder, then, what hate mail she has gotten from anybody here? Or what hate mail she has gotten from those who follow people she doesn't like - how does she know, in advance, that they will send her hate mail? How does she think, as you point out, Paula Kirby or Harriet Hall, deal with such harassment?

Oh, and not to resurrect a dead issue, but both Chris Hallquist on his various sites, so linking isn't good (just look up his various Incredible Hallq blogs) and recently John Loftus (at Debunking Christianity) have written a lot on Craig and his tactics (and the lies). Craig is a skilled high school debater, but that's about it. The man spouts so much bullshit, he makes Oolon look like a constipated baby.

Damn - keep forgetting - on Tapatalk, the spoiler images do not load at all, so all I see of them is tiny images in the app. When I click on them to look at the larger image, it goes back to the last image posted before that time. Not sure if it is me, the iPad app, or something with the coding. I assume it is the way the app is written, but I figured I'd bring it up and see if anyone else using it has had this problem.

Oh the letter-writing campaign we all supposedly ran on her after her cheap shot on Sara Mayhew. Which was totes wrong, but the actions against Abbie were totes okay.

For the record, I don't agree with fucking with people's jobs outside of clear need. Melody being a short-tempered overprivileged yuppie larva ain't it. Melody says something bitchy, tell her that and move on. Letter campaigns to get someone fired are lame.

I'm really perplexed as to how PJ is going to drag out The Hobbit into three movies.

The Dwarves, however, do have really cool costumes, from the pix I've seen. There are already patterns for some of the knitted items on Ravelry.

I thought your comment was, as usual, rational and well-stated. Melody just seems exceptionally spoiled and neurotic. Is there really a sufficiently large subset of humans who prefer people like her as partners? Who would actually seek out a person that self-involved and neurotic as a mate? I find it difficult enough to deal with people like that in the context of work, though I have to say that no one I can think of is quite that extreme.

I don't think the teaching cases I've heard presented when I've sat in on a colleague's psychopathology lectures are that extreme.

My dad goes to great lengths to squirrel-proof all the bird feeders, and complains mightily about how the squirrels ruin pecans by chewing through the shells when they're green, yet he always takes nice walnut pieces along when he and my mom walk in a nearby park, to feed ...

Rebecca doesn't understand why someone would say this:
"If you don't recognize feminism as the blight it has become on mankind, I can just think of you as a moron right back."

Not eloquently stated, but Rebecca Watson-esque feminism IS becoming more and more the norm from what I've seen, which is why I'm disgruntled with the entire movement now; it's not just the thoughts of some crazed internet douche.

This guy is a moron, no doubt about it. Still, though, I have to wonder how much attention this would be receiving if the genders were switched? Food for thought.
Thankfully, her followers on twitter show her what that looks like:

Hey there 'pit. I feel like I know most of y'all, if only because I've been lurking for so long.

About me: I'm an enlightened former!! FtB supporter, now turned happy 'pitter.

And hey, I'm on Hensley's banned list, so will that give me a little extra cred as a newbie?

Dunno if I'll jump in much, but I was tired of being listed as a guest, hence my crossover.

Disagree with someone long enough, especially over mens rights issues, and soon they are telling you what a lousy father you are and how they feel sorry for your kids. I'm not saying it's triggering, or abusive, but it is a cheap shot. Sometimes it goes further and the feminists tell you they will call up school systems, principals, teachers to let them know what a horrible probably pedophile and rapist you argued with them on their blog.

There is a good chance that many of us have tortured relationships with our kids that we regret, and I wish we all had wonderful relationships with our kids, and we probably don't.

Anyway, I prefer to leave other people's kids out of our grown up fights.

Well, this is some interesting blast from the past:
http://i.imgur.com/Ethdo.png
http://i.imgur.com/DagqY.png
So the background was, that Dr. Kurtz disagreed on how the organization that he founded was run. Ron Lindsey, Kabuki Face and her ManBoy became attack dogs. Another interesting tidbit of information, around that time, CFI went through a round of layoffs and a certain gentleman Norm Allen was terminated. This is a most interesting commentary...

It's not as if we are talking shit about his kid, we aren't even sure if he has one. And this isn't about one subject or comment. This is an observation from numerous examples and multiple forums. It is a valid observation. Maybe he will read the post and give a thought to his role as a father and not live to regret anything.

He mentioned on FTB that he has a daughter. I really feel sorry for her.
I dislike this sort of comment.

I've heard plenty of feminists say this again and again in reference to me, at places like Pandagon, Salon, all the usual places including Free Thought Blogs. And I am 99% sure that PeeZus himself has made this comment to me.

Yeah I know. Still I am pretty sure what you wrote could have been written by any of the feminists that on a daily basis harangue commenters in precisely this fashion on their forums. I just don't want to have anything to do with it.

Regardless of how I feel about someone's politics or beliefs. up until they are monsters or criminals, I truly hope and trust they have a good relationship with their kids, and are capable parents, and I won't tell them how their words on the Internet inform me that they cannot be trusted with kids.

I just find there is far too much of: 1) You defend rape jokes, 2) you are most likely a rapist, 3) I feel sorry for your kids 4) LOUD CHEERS FROM FORUM.

Call me an asshole, an asswipe, an assface, but leave the kids out of it. It's a cheap shot and polarizing.

As much as Oolon is an asshole online, my assumption is that he is a terrific father and a terrific person in real life, passionate about his beliefs that he argues them online.

Any assumption other than that makes me curious as to what we really think of as a separation of online debate, online personas from real life and even with a hint of societal approved misandry.

It's made more complex that the web is only about 20 years old, and the social norms around online debate etc., are still just forming and still fluid and still different from one community to the next.

When the kids grow up, there is plenty of time for them to learn about who their parents really are and form their own relationships with them. And as rational adults with agency, I assume they will.

There is no need for me to assert or imply or wish, based on Internet words alone, that there is anything other than a great relationship between the kids and their father.

I have argued with people on Taslima's blog, (back when I was brainwashed), who appeared to be MRA's, and often they would talk about their daughter(s) and how much they loved them, cared for them, and wanted them to grow up into a world that respected them.

To make a cheap shot at their children just felt wrong. It would have been so easy, and such a dick move (zomg gendered insult) to say something assholey like 'you misogynist you, I bet you'll laugh if your daughter gets raped'. Completely and totally unfair in every sense of the word, and the sad thing is, as somedumbguy stated, that kind of statement comes natural to the feminazis. They wouldn't have batted an eye over it.

And for the record, the "MRA's" (and I use quotes, thats just how they were characterized) that I read and/or debated all sounded like good folks. We may have had a difference of opinion, but most of them appeared to be good people at heart.

As someone who's actually had cheap shots taken directly at my kids and my parenting, I simply say "water off a ducks' back". Though, I do have to say I've actually made some online comments about feeling really bad for a kid. This was, of course, in regards to a bat shit crazy fucking stalkery asshole who is, amazingly, someone who popped out a kid. So, grain of salt.

Although we are frequently lumped in together, my impression is that this place contains a very diverse set of beliefs and attitudes. I don't see why you would feel the need to take responsibility for what other people say beyond pointing out that you think they're being a dick by saying it (I agree).

Quite likely that is all that you're saying. I have occasionally objected to things said by other people here to the extent that I almost felt a need to disavow them, but I think the only people who would assume we all think the same by posting here in the first place will damn us regardless of what is said.

I don't know that I am taking responsibility for it -- I am saying that I don't want to have anything to do with it.

Not trying to play either a victim or trump card here, but as a targeted man with two alienated kids that faces real life misandry every day and blaming of me for how my ex has in real life brain washed the kids, and who has to fight that, my default belief is now that all men are good fathers until you prove otherwise. Because the feminist and societal view is that men are default bad fathers and did something to deserve how their kids in a divorce treat them. If you ask the feminists, it's probably the case the fathers were abusive, or pedophiles, or creepy, or puritanical, or drunk, or beat them, or abandoned them, or were deadbeats.

So my default view is that all men are good fathers until there is real life proof that they aren't.

Arguments on an internet board is no way to assume:

1) A man isn't a good father
2) Some person is mentally disturbed and needs help (another often bullshit Internet diagnosis framed as smear)

If people continue with this, I am not going to say I have been triggered, or demand they stop. I will just point out the fallacy of their thinking and conclude they are a bit less skeptical and logical than I thought or would prefer them to be and perhaps unable to get in a valid criticism on their own.

Why would you assume that? Maybe it seems like a nicer assumption, but it's at least as baseless as assuming you know something about his parenting based on online interactions on other topics.
somedumbguy wrote:Any assumption other than that makes me curious as to what we really think of as a separation of online debate, online personas from real life and even with a hint of societal approved misandry.
How 'bout just assuming that either you don't know anything about him as a parent, or that he's most likely "average" rather than "terrific" as a parent? Either seems more supportable.

Yeah, I agree with this sentiment. Even though oolon is the worlds biggest cunt, bringing his family / parenting skills into it isn't the right thing to do IMHO. Of course, this is a free forum, so just MHO.

But people can carry on calling him a paedophile as much as you all like, given the dodgy pictures he likes to scrape off the internet.
